You can not compare Football to Basketball, 1 guy can throw off the total chemistry of the whole team.

Most everyone can agree Rutgers is an NCAA team next season. Throw in one player who isn't a cancer and has NBA talent, especially if it's a position of need, and that team isn't just an NCAA participant. They are a contender.

He might better than Cockburn. Just saying. I'll take of bunch of Cliff's. Especially if they are bigs.

One and dones aren't the saviors some on here think they are. I'd rather win playing team ball than being a developmental team for a one and done.

agreed.. a couple years ago.. yeah... because it help juice recruiting and put fans in the seats.. get buzz.. but we got recruits, buzz, fans now.

Next up new big-money sponsors... because we will be on national TV quite a bit.. if there is a season, that is. I wouldn't be surprised if some networks approach Rutgers to play some big OOC games early... for TV.

no

that ain't Pike's program...
What are you talking about??? Maybe that's not "your" program but most fans and the entire coaching staff want great players. I'd take a mid -season one and done if it made RU great and lead them to a run in the NCAA's!

If he can help us win games the answer is a resounding yes. Looking at who we have returning we can use an inside workhorse who can get those tough buckets in the paint. Cockburn would actually be a great fit for our team if there is someone like him out there. He could play the 4 or 5 for us and give us loads of flexibility to match up but even better to create mismatches.

One and dones also aren't the program-destroyers some on here think.

Illinois had a pretty decent season just this year with a "one and done".
Cockburn did not come to Illinois as a "one and done". He was a four star, like Omoruyi. I'm talking about 5 star McDonald's types who the coach knows ahead of time that the kid will only play a year. Cockburn had a nice year and was probably told to give the NBA a try. If the same happens with Omoruyi, I'd have no problem. But neither are the type of situation I'm talking about.

I would take a player like Cockburn for a year. He would be a great addition to the players we have now.

Oh that makes it much clearer.......

So Rutgers shouldn't recruit any 5-star players because they "may" leave after 1 year (but not a guarantee they leave).
I'd like to see 1 coach say "no" to a 5-star elite level recruit.

But Rutgers should recruit high level 4-star recruits who could play really well and leave after 1 year.

That recruiting philosophy isn't incredibly confusing at all......

Well, you twisted what I wrote, but whatever. It's enough back and forth. Stay safe.

The one and done has helped Kentucky and Duke, I would expect it to help us. But, you need more than one player. The question is, are you really want to be come a factory?
