haha I'm kidding I have no knowledge that he's bought a house already but wouldn't shock me one iota. I was told that his family was looking for homes already RU in the summer though. These days, coaches houses are serving as hang outs for players and recruiting tools so wouldn't shock me to see him buy a home like the one above. However as we know, GS likes to be within 5 minutes of the facility so doubt he'd go 20 mins away to Warren

That was another move that Ash did that struck me as so stupid. Guy is the head football coach of the school and buys a house that is 30 minutes away and a PITA to get to from Piscataway. No major highway, all side roads on steep hills...in a town with piss poor reception.

The hearing impaired photography guy was “darkage”. He always told stories about his bitchwife which were hilarious.

Unfortunately he passed during the Late Schiano/Flood years. He was only in his 50s. His son was a Freshman during the Toronto Bowl, and was a poster on here.

Damn....

There was never a poster as bad as Ann, the old Seton Hall Rivals poster.
I understand why you’d say that — she certainly had no love for Rutgers — but (and take it for what it’s worth), she’s as good a person in real life as you could imagine. I know. A lot of people whose “board personas” as different than their real-life deals, but Ann is a quality human. I’ll vouch for it. Forget what you’re inclined to think about her as a poster.

That said, I’ll reiterate my other point: I get why “Ann S” the poster won’t get much love here!

ellobo, maybe?
Yes, this is correct. Good guy, considering his background.

@darkage posted for a long time; his photography was outstanding, but he was also a fine contributor who wasn’t afraid to shake things up.

@Alamo Al was a great longtime poster who always caught my attention as a Clifton guy who wound up in Flanders ... it was a path my mother followed, too.

And of course, there never was such a gentleman as @CalRU66. I always treaded carefully when we saw things differently, not because he would’ve lashed out, but because his opinions were always so well considered and his comportment was so elegant that it would make me reconsider if I were, indeed, incorrect. Lovely guy.

Lies.

We arrived in Detroit within 60 seconds of each other.

I started in Manalapan. You started in Lancaster, PA.

And we caught you midway through Ohio.

That's right, sports fans - these two had a 2+ hour head start and @MYHATINTHERING and I caught them 4 hours later.
not even close, RU4Real owned that race and did so with a handicap which was my small bladder! owned is an understatement

Some more:

- the "hot chicks thread(s)"

- "This, That, and Some Other Things" (paying homage to myself, sorry)

- "Put your parking pass and tickets in the car" threads??

Sad to hear of some of the posters that have passed. Need a hot chicks thread to cheer things up.
I haven’t been around recently, but is Southern Gentleman still here?
I know some people wouldn’t agree, but I miss Mr. TV.
Going back aways, who was the guy who always seemed like he was watching practices from a distance & would always be talking about how tall a particular player was? A lot of posters got a kick out of it. It may have been pre-Schiano

I miss Fandiego.....Oh wait. That was me.!! !RC78 died tragically around 10 years ago and I will never get over it. . He was as RU as they get. Almost beat up Bill Maher at his high school class reunion. Twice..

If it helps, I saw Bill Maher get face raked by a bouncer after groping some girl at the bar. It was awesome.

Great question. Haven't seen them around in a long, long while. :)
I remember a poster years and years
Ago that posted here all the time. I
Believe he had a friend or relative from Ontario that played for RU when the player left he still posted but seemed to disappeared for awhile, was he
RUinCanada ?

The CEO version of him might be just fine with the 20 minute commute. The micromanager version needs to be 1 minute down the road.

No doubt though, times change and schiano is a bigger name than ever before... I’d love to see him splurge on something big time. That and a boss shore house.

It would be the ultimate motivator for young Jersey coaches to see what can come with running the state’s program.

I think our crew has gone from a total of about 28 tickets (high point) to MAYBE 10 now and our tailgates have gone from a solid B to an F. I fully expect to at least DOUBLE season tickets by next season (2020) and pray to God that our pre-gaming gets back to respectability soon!!!
This year will be the triumphant return. I used to be in the same section as your crew about 10 rows up, including the Louisville game w/Jen Sterger. Always appreciated the enthusiasm. I moved across to the former student section in ‘09 and ended up in 107. Stopped season tickets in 2018 and moved to Mass in 2019, so can’t wait to get back for a game or two a season.

...Ohhh so many characters from these boards, the lots, the stadium and bowl parties, that have disappeared in the recent past?

The Scarlet Eskimo
The King Of Sandy Hook
Don Finkenstadt (and The Finkenstadt Caravan)
Higgins
(Not so “little” anymore) Jovi
Twizzlers
The Stump
The Chopper
Purple Lot Superiority (ha ha ha)

...Obviously there are many more so please feel free to add on. Also Looking forward to attendance battles, lot wars, and being able to engage with visiting fans in a hostile fashion - and feeling good about it - once again lol!

(Looks like it’s going to be a few more days until this thing gets done so I’ve got to talki about something lol...)

Lots of good memories in this thread

The scarlet Eskimo did not stick around very long, after the 06 season, if memory serves...... more of a fair weather fan

Interacted with Mr Higgins on several occasions
Told me how he was kicked out out of the stadium, taken to a back room, for getting messy with his beer.
It seems some opposing fan resented him downing the beers as we began to crush his/ her team, and reported to the ushers he was throwing beer

The Finkestadt 'caravan'. Threads were classic

My favorite times were the threads upon making our Scottsdale bowl

All the excitement. Nuts, and others, bargaining with hotels for the best package for our fans, etc

Ok, this story needs to be told (maybe in its own thread?).

She banned me from the SHU board along with a lot of other folks back in the day. She wasn’t having anything other than pro SHU talk
