What is a "lot" of water. Usually drink 2 liters of lightly flavored seltzer, and at least 32 ounces of regular water per day.
I have sort of been doing this for 6 months now. Went from 180 down to 153 just yesterday.
I dont starve myself completely though. I eat a light salad for lunch thats about 300 Calories. Have 2 eggs in 1 slice of bread for breakfast. Eat a normal dinner. Also do intense aerobic exercise atleast 5 times a week.
Its working really well.
To lose weight, my Jenny Craig info says you have to keep your calories intake around 1,200-1,500 day. Do this for 6 day and eat like you normally eat on the 7th day so you don’t starve your body. What is a normal dinner
Can you estimate the calories
The first 2 meals total about 540 calories
Anyone ever try this NJ Diet deal? I hear it advertised on WFAN a lot. I'm just assuming it's an equivalent of one of these fad diets?
Is the Keto a new trend? I've been hearing about it lately. Is it safe though? I read some get what they call Keto flu?I concluded awhile ago that NJ Diet = Keto diet.
I've heard a lot of the NJ Diet radio shows, and I've done keto. The principles seem exactly the same but with the hair analysis type thing slathered on top (the analysis isn't needed but it looks scientific and they get to charge for it).
NJ and Keto both move away from calorie counting and glucose burning. When body shifts to burning fats (by avoiding carbs) you can lose a pound a day while eating 3000 calories. I lost 10 pounds in 10 days and was eating steak, bacon. burgers, chicken etc and not remotely starving. NJ show talks about that all the time.
This MD is good for Keto diet stuff:

All sugar? Even Sour Patch Kids?Cut sugar out and stop drinking alcohol
Excercise...cardio and hit the weights
Its pretty simple...you either want to or you don't

I read "models" use cream in their coffee..Is not "new new" but its been getting bigger and bigger despite the orchestrated pushback. There have been articles about "keto breath" and "keto crotch" and scare articles about "cholesterol" etc. But people are learning from friends and family that diet works, and that other medical issues clear-up as well.
Another well known doctor/author who did PBS shows (David Perlmutter) has long been writing about the benefits of keto and neurological regeneration :

I can't have bears..they have gelatin :flushed:I do really soft gummy bears
I eat anything i want
But you have to keep things in check

It's against everything I believe in. I'm vegetarian and the gelatin "is made by prolonged boiling of skin, cartilage, and bones from animals":flush:what happens when you eat that
I lost 32 pounds about 10 years ago going from 222 to 190 on Jenny Craig for about 1 year at 53 years old. Kept the weight off for 5 years but stop weighting myself and gained to 207 at 59 years old. Lost 30 pounds in 6 months to 177 and now at 182 at 63years old. Going to the doctor in July, expect to be at 175 pounds. I pretty much follow the intermittent fasting, cut carbs and sugar and watch calories.
Coffee for breakfast. For lunch, I’m eating a hamburger (180 cal)with no bread with a small salad. For dinner, some type of protein with vegetables but small portion. My snack is now 6 chicken nuggets (280 cal) or a slice of pizza (250 calories). Other snacks, ice pop sugar free 5 cal, chocolate pudding 8 cal or jello. I occasionally will eat a bag of potatoes chip every couple of days.
I jog and work out almost every day but the exercise doesn’t really make a difference in weight loss unless you run 2-3 miles a day.
How much water a day?
Good rule is half your weight in ounces.
Example: 200lbs = 100oz of water
so you pee a lot...
That is a lot of water. Water doesn't have to come from just plain water, tea and coffee counts towards that goal.
But not alcohol and sugar based drinks (soda and juice).
Coffe and Tea counting towards hydration: careful what you are putting in it.
4 cups of coffee counts towards water I guess, but the milk and sugar are also counting.
No, actually we wouldn't. Maintaining weight or muscle mass is a discipline. I'm a gym rat, I've been active in a gym since I got out of college. There are specific health reasons why I need to. That aside, those of us who are long time members see a rhythm or pattern in the gym population. Jan. and Feb. we see the resolutioners, but we know by the 3rd week of Feb. their presence starts to wane, and by March most of them are gone. We see it year after year after year. Same thing with late April/early May, we see an influx of those who want to get fit for the summer. They're gone by June. We also see an influx of college students in mid-late May, they last a month or two. By July they're gone. There is a lot that is not understood about weight loss. If it was understood and universally applicable, we would all be the ideal weight and in the proper BMI on the poster on our doctors' walls.
You probably haven't lost weight because you've added muscle while burning off fat, hence the reduction in your waist size while maintaining weight. The no exercise does seem odd.
I work out at the Max and they have a diet plan. I'm down 25 lbs without really following the diet plan, just cutting down. More importantly I've lost 4 inches on my waist, the last 2 without losing any weight.

that's been my diet for 25 years, except almost all my carbs are beer lol....no sugar, no bread. and exercise, do something you enjoy! I hate running so I never did it. if you don't enjoy you won't do it.
All these fad diets do are fatten the wallets of the person who made them up. It is all very simple. Eat less, eat better and work out. Duh...
Anyway- I started using a personal trainer in Oct, twice a week. At that point I was 187 lbs and 24% BF. Funny thing is that I thought I wasn't fat.
I used to go to the gym on my own at least 2-3 times a week and thought I worked myself hard. But shortly after starting with the PT, I realized she had me sweating more in 10 minutes then I would in my own entire workout sessions. Weight dropped fast and muscle added. I am going on 57 this year.
I am now down to 152 lbs and 10% BF. Arms and shoulders ripped and waist down from 36 to between 30 and 31.
What exactly does your trainer have you doing 2 days per week--specifics--exercises and duration?
And your personal trainer--she had you sweating?
Finally, did you work out more than the 2 days a week she gave you good workout?
Her workouts sound similar to the Beach Body LIIFT 4 workouts-- a mix of supersets, body weight exercises, cardio, abs and stretching at end. All workouts are with dumbellsFigured you would pick up on the "she" hahaha little Turkish Girl about 5ft2.
I train with her 2x per week but also work out on my own an additional 3x per week and during commercials when watching tv.
What she does- I guess t is the use of always mixing cardio throughout the workout. During a 1 hour session, the ONLY break is when you walk from one part of the gym to another. The first couple of months was all about getting my body ready for what was to come. After that- hardcore and never with heavy weights but lots of supersets and reps. Between every set were some sort of pushups, wall climbers or something else. After an hour with her, I would be dead tired and soaked with sweat. After abs, she then has you do an additional 30 minutes to an hour cardio.
Pretty much a version of that - dumbells and pulleys. only time we use a bar is when doing squats and deadlifts. It's funny...at our gym, they have a 25 yd artificial turf with football marking in the middle of the gym. This is where we start all workouts, stretching, bands, resistance etc...The hardest workouts is when you don't leave this area for the full workout. hitting the weights, pull downs etc is a welcome break...Her workouts sound similar to the Beach Body LIIFT 4 workouts-- a mix of supersets, body weight exercises, cardio, abs and stretching at end. Day 1 Chest/Triceps
Day 2 Back and Biceps
Day 3 Stretch
Day 4 Shoulders
Day 5 Legs
3 sets of 10 Reps of 9 different exercises or 4 sets of 10 Reps of 6 different excercises;
HIIT of body weight exercises such as squat jacks, burpees and variants of these.
Abs
Stretch.
Each workout is 32-40 minutes.
Nice thing about BeachBody is you can stream it, and do it in the comfort of your home. I could use a Turkish personal trainer to push me harder. Will run that by the wife.

For the back/bicep routine- after the 3 supersets of 6 exercise of 10 reps, this was the routine:This description of a workout is likely to scare away some of our posters who want to lose weight with minimal commitment. Squatjacks and Burpees?
