I think people look for it way to much. I'm a huge Oriole fan, (yes one of the few who still admits it), and I haven't seen anyone kneel since the first game and that was in solidarity prior to the anthem, they stood for the anthem. I just get so frustrated that people still to this day in our country doesn't respect the first amendment and by that I mean the protection of being able to say or do something that isn't a threat to your personal safety or well being. Would I personally kneel for the anthem, no, but I have no ill will for them doing it. I educate myself on why they do it and understand their point of view. We can go back over several issues over the years and people were up in arms when it happened and then it becomes a non issue once it becomes more accepting- gay marriage is a perfect example of how things have changed in the last decade. No one says you have to like it, but do you really need to hate someone for it and refuse to never watch again. I know my father and I have no common ground on politics but I love him even though we don't come close to agreeing on anything.
It's disrespectful to do it while the song is being played. You wouldn't want me to interrupt your daughters wedding. Why? Because it would emotionally destroy her and it's disrespectful. Same thing goes with a funeral. If I didn't like you I wouldn't show up at your funeral and show my *** by talking **** about you.. Why? Because It would be disrespectful to your family.
Everytime someone takes a knee while the song is being played our enemies smile. Why? Because it divides us as a country. This **** isn't hard. Find another way to protest instead of pissing on the memories of millions who have fought to give you those freedoms. That goes for anyone who has served in the military. Your brothers and sisters that came before you deserve better. The PFC deployed to a third world country this morning deserves better.
