You know mental illness exists in nature, right?
i hear you, and that’s the point of this thread- why do people care to keep this debate ongoing? The teachers that refused to identify students in a public school in the sex they chose were fired, they are suing on grounds of religious tolerance. In practical terms, I would call someone what they appear to want to be called. So if a guy is dressed like a woman then it seems like they want to be called "she" even though it's obviously a biological male and I'll gladly comply. It's the easiest thing to do.
But the problem is, that's not good enough for lots of people. They want me to stop my life and dwell on whatever is going on inside their brain with all these issues. It's a form of self-absorption. Anyone should be able to do/be whatever they want but OTOH people shouldn't be forced to dwell on the inner lives of others.
But that said, all this would be moot if we have just one word instead "he" and "she" and if we had another single word instead of "his" and "hers," etc.
It’s just ridiculous to me that so many people think they know what’s best, or what’s right, or what’s normal for others. Let go of the ridigity and absolutism and be American and accepting.
What’s even weirder to me is that those that throw their judgement onto others are the ones whining about how people need to accept other’s thoughts and ideas. And they don’t see the irony.
