There isn't a coach on the planet that can turn our current healthy tackles into serviceable linemen. Blame Scott Frost for going the "OMG HE's 6'9"!! OMG!!! We are gonna look HUGE getting off the bus! Lemme go get a set of hang cleans in I'm gonna look jacked getting off the bus with the fellas!" route for a solid 4 years straight.

This year we have the easiest schedule we may have for the next decade and yet probably will be lucky to win 6 games. Even if Ruhle finds much more talent on OL and at QB position the next few years will be a huge challenge.

What I think we learned most Thursday is that in addition to a pathetic offense, our expensive new HC was trounced by PJ Fleck’s in-game coaching. Chew on that sad fact.

I‘m not driving out there again to see us lose..Winking
I don't blame you for saying that. I continue to be amazed at how well our fan base continues to travel despite the team either getting their *** handed to them or giving the game away in almost every road game in recent memory.

I was disappointed in our tackles during the game so I re watched the game this time pausing and rewinding each offensive play several times.

Here are my conclussions. There was either no communication or miscommunication on switching men on stunts and blitzes. The LT is limited on footwork. He has no flex to his upper body and combine that with the lack of keeping his feet under him that leads to very bad results. When he gets smacked in his chest & shoulders he cant recover because it messes his feet up and he is beaten. I just believe strongly that he shouldn't be playing much less starting. Very rarely did the coaches bring a tightend over to help him block. When they did bring a TE over, they sent them out on a route and they didn't even brush block. Bad coaching IMO.

The guards seem to have good footwork but they missed so many switches that I couldn't believe it.

I have zero faith in our line coach.

I honestly believe we could play a guy 6-2 230 and get more than what we are getting from our two tackles and I wish we would try it. Trotting them out there is just insane. Just terrible players.

fidone looked stiff and completely bereft of of explosiveness

get Boerk more looks - was open many times and made the best catch of the night
Just rewatched again... 1000% correct i dont remember seeing so many "olays" in my life. He whiffed in a ton of bloks.. just go watch the first drive 3 alone

Boerk is our best TE by a long way

Same old, same old. Nothing will change until we get a quality OL coach.

No one discussed this as far as I saw. What was that? A formation? Haarberg as a pass catching TE? So many questions.
seemed like one formation/package they had for him

he came shallow across the formation twice on play action

first one worked, second was sniffed out

Corcoran has been a massive disappointment.
Watched some of the “highlights” and holy buckets, Corcoran clearly stood out as worst OL. Some plays where Piper looked bad, it wasn’t clear what his responsibility was, but it didn’t look good.

Corcoran however was a complete trainwreck almost every play it seems.

Ervin’s long run for example was from breaking the tackle, hit in the backfield by guess who? Corcoran’s guy.
Even on one of our few big completions, Corcoran got blown up and pocket instantly collapsed on his account. Sims got rid of ball in time to deliver a strike.
So even on a big gains, Corcoran almost caused TFL and/or sack.
Brutal we’ve spent years with this and can’t get a competent LT on the field (not sure how Teddy will be yet, but always need 2 ready).

Yes, Nebraska’s OL coach puts out terrible results.

Not sure why people thought this would change because his nephew is possibly a great QB?
I'm reserving judgement on DR for now. He didn't recruit these guys, who were recruited for their measurables and not so much their high school performance. Cocoran and BB are proof that stars aren't enough.

Screw that.

He’s been coaching these guys for 2 years. They are doing exactly what he’s teaching them by now.

Rhule will see it on film study. Let’s see if we’ve got somebody better then. Maybe we don’t. We’re still playing guys who Frost and Austin recruited other than Scott☹️

Unfortunately, they're probably the best NU has.

If this is a development program, seems to me the further development of Corcoran, Piper and Benhart has topped out. It looks to me they are who they are.

I'd like to see us develop Gottula, Sledge, Jenkins and take our lumps with kids that MIGHT be far superior to these entrenched starters by the 6th or 7th game. Maybe they don't jump and have proceedure penalties, maybe they can pass block as well as the seasoned veterans. Maybe what they lack in experience, they make up with athleticism and "want-to."

If its a development program, let's develop them while the bullets are flying. If we get one STUD out of the group this year, we are makng progress.

Our entire offense is a wreck. We do not have a legit P5 QB on our roster. Our offensive line is still a sieve on pass plays and are only average at run blocking. Our wide receivers are a flat-out embarrassment of mediocrity. We have decent running backs but not one of them is a game changer, especially given our offensive line. Where was Fidone? Where was the fullback we heard was going to be part of the new offense? The fourth quarter play calling was really bad at times.

I see little hope that this offense is going to do much this year. We need to change our gameplan and start scheming an entire offense around the QB run game. When we did that yesterday we had some success, although not enough.

And the ineptitude of our offense is going to wear down our defense. Our defense is better but against better offenses than the one we saw yesterday they are going to get torched if the offense does not help them out.

Sorry, but contrary to my early pre-season optimism, I think this looks like a 4-8 team. Rhule better recruit some better QB's for the future and some better offensive lineman. He has made a start in that direction. He needs to keep building that. This team is still a year away from going bowling.

100%, if we want a chance at a bowl game we have ride Sims legs for better or worse. No protecting Sims by limiting is carries, get as many Ws as you can and hope he stays healthy. Don’t let him throw it more than 10-12 times a game.

4-8 sounds right! At least I hope we can find 4 teams we can whip.
