Who cares who “started it”, what are we talking about, Elementary kids? It’s usually the guy that retaliates that gets penalized. Good teams and good players don’t get wrapped up in that nonsense, and good coaches don’t encourage it. It’s a football game, not an ally behind a bar.

Yeah so if your teammates get jumped you are just going to stand there and say .....hey stop it guys...lol

Your entire team would ostracize you and bully you the rest of the year and rightfully so. You cant be trusted.

Zac Taylor today on the McAfee Show:

"we preach that fighting is a penalty during games, but we understand it's camp and guys want to get it out of their system.

We practiced with the Packers and had two fights. The guys took care of each other and we had two great practices."

...

"we might not have had any fights my first two years here, so it might be a good thing that we've gotten in a few, last year with the Rams and this year with the Packers."

grow up, folks. I very much hope our camp hasn't been without a scuffle or 3.
That was against the other team correct? I feel like it’s a circular argument in your own practice. Oh you are going to not fight for teammate …. Errr, against your teammate?

No we just think some of you would make horrible teammates.
_Playing for you teammates doesn't mean throwing fvcking punches, being penalized, possibly breaking your hand, and then get suspended for the 1st half of the next game. That's not smart football, its stupid *** football.

again, for the narrative pumpers/headline-only readers (there are many):

he did not "encourage fighting", he yelled at the kids who turned their back on their teammate during a fight

there is a grand canyon sized chasm between those two things

I 100% guarantee our entire staff agrees with this sentiment and am shocked at the pearl clutching in this thread

And that hypothetical didn’t happen here and basically never happens. If your focus is on winning a football game you are trying to get your teammate out of that situation, not come in and fight. If you are more interested in your street cred and being a fake *** tough guy, than in team success you can’t be trusted.

Meh, I'm not seeing the problem with what he said. Fights happen in football. Often times in practice. You should back your teammates when they do. Maybe it's because I've actually played football, which some of you clearly haven't. Or maybe it's because I don't have Deion insecurities, which some of you clearly do. But seems like a pretty lame thing to get your panties all wadded up about. If I were picking nits, it would be that sCUm has some pussies on their team who won't even back their own teammates in a fight.
A better plan would be for the other 10 guys on the offensive team, to get between the douche nozzle OL #68 and get him back to the sideline or get him into the group of guys celebrating the TD. Instead, the entire team gets berated for not being a dumbass.

I have played and coached football. Yes, there are fights in practice, and when the fights are because of something that would warrant a fight, no problem. That wasn't the case here. The defender, when he realized the RB had crossed the goal line, let the RB go, and may have gave him a little assistance getting to the ground. Nothing here was against any code, no one was going to get hurt unnecessarily. The tackler was frustrated he didn't make the play before the RB scored. The RB wasn't mad when he got up. The OL wasn't protecting his guy. It was simply an unnecessary brawl that creates the wrong idea of when to stick up for your guys, and creates confusion. Now guys are going to be quick triggered or they will be afraid of being called out for not fighting.

pointless!! And if you read my posts, not once did I mention Sanders, so it has nothing to do with insecurities about him.

To the point someone else made about "if this were Nebraska" ....Matt Rhule would have been more pissed off because of the inability to control their emotions than he would have that not everyone was swinging at an opponent. Moot point.

How many actual fights were you in during your playing days?
2 in High School when the fans came on the flloor.

One in junior college then the other at TCU before the game against La Tech.

Any other questionss? Either you guys are major pusses or have never played a day in adult team sports.

It's one thing to fight in camp, or like the exhibition practice against an opponent, no one is going to be suspended the first half of the next game.

kong, I think you're wrong on this one.

If they were practicing against another team I get it. It seems fake. Manufacturing fake toughness.

everyone arguing on the premise that he is encouraging fighting is correct - that is stupid.

but that's not at all what happened.

Deion is at CU to put his son in the best position to get looks for the 2025 NFL draft. I'm sure he'd like to win along the way, but it doesn't matter. CU could go
9-4, 11-2 or 2-10. None of it matters. Deion is there for two years and he steps down for health reasons, attributing his retirement to his ongoing battle with circulation issues. It's legit, so there's just no purpose for him out there after Shadeur exhausts his eligibility.

I'm capable of ****ing reading. I also coached for a long time. You don't teach your players that ****. That's for the coaches and officials to sort out.
don't read it. there's no context.

Do a thread, and take a poll and let's see what the majority of us members feel. Fair enough?

Put everything in proper perspective and let's see what the consensus is.
watch what actually happened.

I don't care about everyone's feelings and I stand by my belief that everyone on our staff agrees with his sentiment, which is beyond obvious

This is typically what you can expect from a coach who just a couple of days ago, was going on about how culture doesn't matter, or it doesn't matter if you like each other... Maybe, he should have set the tone or "culture" if you will, from the get go, rather than dropping ridiculous statements and cliches in front of the camera.... This little league, daddy ball, BS will wear really thin at this level...

cool slant, anderson cooper
Slant?

He literally told his team to fight in an inter squad scrimmage and then posted it on social media. Pretending it is anything else is just attempting to spin and being dishonest, because of who the coach happens to be.
