Hey man, I might be a simpleton, but I hate the Big Ten almost as much as you do.Does my degree require me suck this crap conference’s dick at every mid-December bowl win, round of 64 squeaker or mid-March baseball win like the rest of you simpletons?
Yeah, I agree with that.
But like, even say an Iowa fan, are they all geeked up for that big game vs Indiana? Or NW?
Probably because they forget they were in the same conference since they never play them. They weren't even that amped for their game with michigan last year.
For sure, there's nothing in the B1G that can compete with that cultural experience in Manhattan Kansas or the dynamic enriching atmosphere in Ames Iowa. WinkingWe are also getting to the point (maybe past it) where the shine has worn off of attending these super-far road games.
I did Michigan and would never do it again. The fans were fine (lame, but fine) but driving there sucks and flying there just ruins the fun part of hanging with your friends in the car.
NW is not even a trip to NW it is just a trip to Chicago
Minny is horrible. Purdue is fun but not because of the team. Illinois is fun but again, not because of the team.
Back in the day it could be a Wednesday and you could be like "hey, why don't we go to the game at KU Saturday...it is at 2:30, we can leave at 6am and have a great time"
PSU, MD, Rutgers? Once, maybe. Ohio State? Once maybe.
Indiana, do we even play them? MSU, once, maybe.
I can imagine there will be a bit of a culture clash for USC fans that make the trip up to Lincoln.I like the big cause ohio state and michigan seem less annoying/dramatic then ut and 0u...
and the money is great...and the academics till they get too lib.
and because at least someone is trying to compete with the sec. it's interesting seeing the big 10 go thru what the big 8 did as far as expansion...
I'm not sure bout usc fan yet...they seem ok..they pileup alot of w's so I can see them having a bit of attitude, but I think that southern cal hollywood attitude is good for them..
alot of the big 10 is like the big 8, there's not much difference between misery and iowa...or northwestern and ksu..
Imagine it. Visiting a city where shoplifting is still considered a crime and there aren't massive groups of homeless people on the streets with discarded needles and feces on the streets. How shocking of an experience. EekI can imagine there will be a bit of a culture clash for USC fans that make the trip up to Lincoln.
This is happening across college football, though. And it's actually really sad. So many rivalries are gone and the fan experience for many schools has been wiped out in the pursuit of money and greed. We are also getting to the point (maybe past it) where the shine has worn off of attending these super-far road games.

I wish I had really realized how nice it was to have KSU, KU, ISU, Mizzo. and so on, so freaking close and easy to attend. This is happening across college football, though. And it's actually really sad. So many rivalries are gone and the fan experience for many schools has been wiped out in the pursuit of money and greed.
Fans of USC and UCLA are going to be in a real tough spot when they join. Games literally on the other side of the country. Nebraska will be their closest in-conference school until Oregon and Washington join at some point, as expected. But not only will this be a pain in the neck geographically for the Pac schools that join, but culturally it will be...well...let's just say...yikes. I don't think this will be sustainable. At some point, the superconferences are probably going to break up again and we'll be back to smaller regional conferences. That's just my prediction.
In an ironic twist, the NFL is doing a better job at preserving some regionality than college football. NFL divisions are largely focused on a specific region, and fans are more concerned about their own division.
Right now, no. I'm not so sure long term.Would you rather be back in the B12 right now?
I live in Santa Monica. Your post is almost as dumb as a comment made by a coworker of mine who is a USC alum and fan. I asked if he was going to be able to make any trips to some of the B1G road games.Imagine it. Visiting a city where shoplifting is still considered a crime and there aren't massive groups of homeless people on the streets with discarded needles and feces on the streets. I would imagine it depends where you were, but my friend that visited San Francisco pretty saw word for word what the other guy posted.I live in Santa Monica. Your post is almost as dumb as a comment made by a coworker of mine who is a USC alum and fan. I asked if he was going to be able to make any trips to some of the B1G road games.
He said (paraphrasing) "No way! All those racists and homophobes there! Wouldn't feel safe." Then he made some joke about all the meth heads (which was actually kind of funny.) I really had to bite my tongue. Not only am I originally from Nebraska, but our fan experience is second to none.
What my coworker said was ignorant. Which is what you are displaying here in your post. And this is EXACTLY what I meant by the culture clash.
rent control or home owner?I live in Santa Monica. Your post is almost as dumb as a comment made by a coworker of mine who is a USC alum and fan. I asked if he was going to be able to make any trips to some of the B1G road games.

San Francisco doesn't have anything to do with SoCal. San Diego, for example, is very pretty and quite different.I would imagine it depends where you were, but my friend that visited San Francisco pretty saw word for word what the other guy posted.
Rent control. You kidding, I can't afford a house in Santa Monicarent control or home owner?
thank you.San Francisco doesn't have anything to do with SoCal. San Diego, for example, is very pretty and quite different.
Rent control. You kidding, I can't afford a house in Santa MonicaStill live three blocks from the beach though in a good neighborhood.
With what I make (and pay) here I could buy a nice house in Nebraska and live comfortably.
I don't believe you will see more than a handful of USC fans in Lincoln, for one thing, there are so few of them. Ann Arbor, maybe. South Bend, sure, because Chicago is down the road.I can imagine there will be a bit of a culture clash for USC fans that make the trip up to Lincoln.
Can't take a joke I guess. Not a surprise because I forgot that all jokes and comedy are forbidden these days. My apologies for forgetting that.I live in Santa Monica. Like I said, depends where you are. I did wonder how accurate of a description that was for LA.San Francisco doesn't have anything to do with SoCal. San Diego, for example, is very pretty and quite different.
Folks it was a sarcastic comment. Obviously there are some places in California that fit the description (read the news). AND of course there are many other areas of California that DO NOT fit the description. The same thing is true of Nebraska, there are cornfields in the state for sure but there aren't cornfields in the city of Lincoln (unless you count sweetcorn in the gardens). But I'm not triggered when people across the nation think all of Nebraska is nothing but a giant cornfield.Like I said, depends where you are. I did wonder how accurate of a description that was for LA.
from what I get is usc fan likes to look at themselves in the mirror, with shades on mostly.I can imagine there will be a bit of a culture clash for USC fans that make the trip up to Lincoln.
I think part of the part of the nostalgia of the Big 12 and Big 8 was we were beating the **** of everyone because sure, the drive was nice, but the experience wasn't great. I remember parking in a mud parking lot after it rained in Manhattan once and thought where the f am I. Nothing great about games at Lawrence that I remember other than a short drive. Same for Mizzou. Haven't been to any road Big 10 games but my parents haven't had a bad experience at any places they have been. They liked Minny, Purdue, and MSU the best.We are also getting to the point (maybe past it) where the shine has worn off of attending these super-far road games.

Big 12 is still that way , some non conference and some conference games were on ESPN plus or whatever it was.I think part of the part of the nostalgia of the Big 12 and Big 8 was we were beating the **** of everyone because sure, the drive was nice, but the experience wasn't great. I remember parking in a mud parking lot after it rained in Manhattan once and thought where the f am I. Nothing great about games at Lawrence that I remember other than a short drive. The last thing I remember about the Big 12 was not living in Nebraska and not being able to see all the games and paying $30+ for pay per view with no one to split it with. We moved to the big 10 and I could instantly see every game.
Oh yeah, the old "PPV" games were stupid, I can remember having to head out to the bars (I didn't really mind) to go see U host South Dakota State.I think part of the part of the nostalgia of the Big 12 and Big 8 was we were beating the **** of everyone because sure, the drive was nice, but the experience wasn't great. I would say, "What kind of incompetent boob could have screwed that up?" Kevin Warren would be that incompetent boob.OP - what if I told you the B1G's lauded media deal never happened?
RollingLaugh
Upon closer examination, it appears Warren sold two things that were not his to sell:I would say, "What kind of incompetent boob could have screwed that up?" Kevin Warren would be that incompetent boob.
#1 was 100% on Kevin Warren. I will agree on point #2, but Kevin Warren should have been canned for #1. That explains why he was quick to depart because he knew he screwed up and wanted to get out before his mistake was discovered.Upon closer examination, it appears Warren sold two things that were not his to sell:
1 - the literal rights to B1G football broadcasts
2 - unfettered access to the B1G’s biggest brands
#1 is certainly Warren’s fault
#2 is just typical B1G ‘we invented college football’ egotistical ******** driven by on-campus administrators & championed of course by Michigan
Warren appears to have had too much faith & trust in the institutions he represented to want to play their biggest games late in the season in prime time - an absolute no brainer for anyone except these holier than thou B1G dickheads
Again, he should’ve known better, but I don’t exactly put the blame solely on him for #2 despite over promising & underdelivering - ironically the B1G’s longest running tradition
I posted about FOX owning the B1G rights years ago#1 was 100% on Kevin Warren. I will agree on point #2, but Kevin Warren should have been canned for #1. That explains why he was quick to depart because he knew he screwed up and wanted to get out before his mistake was discovered.
