Why I like the B1G so much

I like the B1G due to the amount of money that Nebraska gets from being a member. I don't like any of the teams in the conference but the money that we get more than makes up for that.

Yeah it's really amazing how much my checking and savings accounts have grown since NU joined the B1G...very good financial decision for me personally, enjoy all.

I like the big cause ohio state and michigan seem less annoying/dramatic then ut and 0u...
and the money is great...and the academics till they get too lib.
and because at least someone is trying to compete with the sec. it's interesting seeing the big 10 go thru what the big 8 did as far as expansion...

I'm not sure bout usc fan yet...they seem ok..they pileup alot of w's so I can see them having a bit of attitude, but I think that southern cal hollywood attitude is good for them..

alot of the big 10 is like the big 8, there's not much difference between misery and iowa...or northwestern and ksu..

Probably the only part i like about it as well. Over 10 years later I still find myself watching big 12 games more. Indiana vs Michigan State just sounds boring as hell.

UCF vs Iowa State doesn't sound any better.
For real.

Pretty much everyone that watched the playoffs last year said the final should have been Michigan vs OSU, but both teams found a way to crap the bed on the biggest stage in CFB.

Kirby Smart said OSU should have straight up won that game, and Michigan came out flat against TCU and made a lot of uncharacteristic mistakes in the red zone. And they still closed to within a touchdown at the end with a chance to tie or win it.

The rest of the conference is crappy, though. Occasionally PSU is good. Occasionally, Wisconsin is good. Same with MSU and Iowa. But for the most part it's the Big 2 and Little 12.

But I still prefer that to the Big 12. A conference that could just die and I wouldn't miss it at all.

And the networks seem to prefer the B1G as well. They're posting the upcoming TV schedule over on Reddit. Penn St. - Iowa is set for a night game on CBS and Michigan St. - Ohio State is set for a night game on NBC.

Anyone that cares about the money but doesn't actually getting any of it is kinda crazy.
Anyone claiming to care about the academics of the Big Ten is lying.

All fans want are fun matchups, rivals and easy road games to attend.

Eh, I find Michigan to be equally as annoying as Texas. They have even more of an elitist fan base with less reasons to be that way.

OU and tOSU are fairly similar. Some wild fan bases but for the most part have earned their right to talk trash.

I will always miss the B12 road games. I’ll never see an away game at 70% of the B10 stadiums. That part will always suck as a fan.

But from a financial, academic, and athletics perspective it was the right move for the university.

When we first joined the B1G, I was looking forward to matchups with Ohio State and Michigan. Hopefully we return back to what we once were as a program so we can look forward to those matchups in the future.

Yeah, I agree with that.

But like, even say an Iowa fan, are they all geeked up for that big game vs Indiana? Or NW?

I haven't heard mich have dan bebee say teir 1-3, on michgans behalf.
or try to take half the big 12 to the pac, or make forever contracts to break them. ect. ect...

the only 2 knocks on mich I kinda know is their president wanted to kick us from aau (rumor)
and they were kinda delusional about being ap national champs in 97...
while ducking us in the rose bowl with the beavers or whoever.....

oh yeah, and hating on romanists too much, I'm as big of reformer as anyone, but if nd can make us 10 million more per year...I'd like mich to make amends..and get over themselfs..all have fallen...

mich does have all-time wins, the second coolest helmets, and really they have alot more resources and ain't done much...so thats a good thing too..

the main thing at this juncture is things fall in place for mr. rhule, and we get thing squared away on the feild with mich.

B10 and us being in it still feels irrelevant to me. I dislike most of the teams, have little respect for them. I hate Iowa but I did before we moved. Hate Wisconsin mostly because of their bid dumb inbred dairy farming fan base. For whatever reason, I just haven't been able to get up for games like I did when we were in the B12. Kstate, Mizzery, Texas and Colorado evoke emotions of hatred that still burn to this day.

I think that's natural. I grew up to the old Big 8, so yeah, those rivalries go back 100 years or so.

It's the next generation, like your kids and grandkids, that are growing up with the B1G, and they won't have a connection to those old Big 12 teams. The reason I dislike that conference was because of its treatment of Nebraska.

All conferences have their share of clunker matchups. Do you get all giddy over Kentucky vs. Vanderbilt? Or how about Stanford vs Washington State?

I love the B1G. It was the Big 12 I had trouble identifying with... at least the Texas teams. Playing November games in 80 degree weather never felt normal to me.

Any game against Rutgers in the conference is a clunker..

That is why I’m glad we’ll be getting off these cross over division rivalry games when UCLA and USC come in next year..
No more 4 or 5 consecutive years in a row with Ioway playing Rutgers like they had planned..

No conference is ever going to be perfect but the B1G definitely is the best place for Nebraska IMO. And that's by a LONG shot, it's the best place for Nebraska.

We are in the Power 2. That's what I'm happy about if we were still in the XII there isn't a snowball's chance in hell we'd be getting a B1G invite today. No AAU status and irrelevant in every men's sport the last decade. Thank God TO and Harvey made the move when they did.

Thankful for getting out of the lowly big12. Nebraska will be just fine!!

for clarity, this is what I've always said about the B1G going back years:

elite conference in terms of making money
total and utter fraud on the field/court

all the schools are lame, all the fanbases are lame, only 1 school out of 14 has relevant recent football/basketball history

the fact the B1G leads the country in blowhard journos graduated helps bolster the reputation, both in rankings and in general, immensely

Michigan, Ohio State, Nebraska, and USC are blue bloods in football.

only 1 of those schools has won an outright national title while in the B1G in the last 53 years

I'll be honest - you're such an unfunny loser that it physically hurts to read your thoughts about the B1G, but adding USC to that post made me laugh

He is right about the blue bloods. Have you lost your mind what a blue blood is in through out history in college football..

All I know is back when Texas, OU, and Colorado were saber-rattling about going to the PAC 12, Missouri thought it was a lock to the B1G, and A&M was talking SEC I was sick to my stomach for quite awhile. I knew if the above unfolded we would be left behind in a dying conference. Then Tom and Harvey pulled the end run out of nowhere and when it was official I was so happy and not stressed about Nebraska's future anymore. I also looked forward to the schools being more equal, which I think is true despite the Michigan and tOSU posturing. And I figured we would be done squabbling about dividing revenue and sharing money, and we pretty much are. And I looked forward to seeing more Nebraska coverage on BTN and getting to see more NU teams play and that has happened. So yeah, traveling to road games is ridiculous and we have had unfairly difficult schedules and all that, but it is the price we are paying to be secure for the next 100 years.

While I understand why we moved to the Big 10, I feel like at the moment it has basically had no benefit other than money.
Football and basketball suck. Academics is still bottom of barrel for the conference, and the trend is not good. We're basically deadweight.
I just wonder if this is really a good long term fit beyond cashing big checks. Time will tell.

Just need the right AD making the right choices… I have trust in Trev.

The past two made some choices that a lot of us were okay with some decisions not one of us with the right frame of mind would have made with a gun to our head..

I don't mind the more difficult schedules. We were brought in to compete with Ohio State and Michigan.

The University of Nebraska-Lincoln

Now I’m a 5-figure annual donor

How about you, Cletus?

Does my degree require me suck this crap conference’s dick at every mid-December bowl win, round of 64 squeaker or mid-March baseball win like the rest of you simpletons?

I like titles. This conference is bereft of them for a good reason: it doesn’t need to win on the field to win where it matters most to them - Their pockets.

We are also getting to the point (maybe past it) where the shine has worn off of attending these super-far road games.

I did Michigan and would never do it again. The fans were fine (lame, but fine) but driving there sucks and flying there just ruins the fun part of hanging with your friends in the car.

NW is not even a trip to NW it is just a trip to Chicago

Minny is horrible. Purdue is fun but not because of the team. Illinois is fun but again, not because of the team.

Back in the day it could be a Wednesday and you could be like "hey, why don't we go to the game at KU Saturday...it is at 2:30, we can leave at 6am and have a great time"

PSU, MD, Rutgers? Once, maybe. Ohio State? Once maybe.

Indiana, do we even play them? MSU, once, maybe.
