I would guess they will go get some grad transfer that was probably not going to play much but has some experience and maturity to help out.

Maybe the kid from Ole Miss can climb the ladder. We’ve seen the Smothers ceiling. Haarberg and Purdy are just plain awful. Torres leaving was a big loss IMO.

One of South Carolina’s young QBs entered the portal recently. That said, I think they might be more likely to convince Smothers to stay.

Yes. With CT gone Smothers would have a realistic chance of being the backup and one play from being the starter. We’ll see how Rhule and Satt handle it. CT followed the money to come to NU. Something tells me he’s doing it again. He wants to be sure he’s the starter.

I thought the portal might decimate the RB room depth (and it still may) but I didn't expect last year's QB starter to leave and the QB room shrink so fast. We're now back to one injury away from big problems.
