I don’t get all the hate??? Likely Rhule told him he would be number 2 based on their evaluation of him last year and what they are seeing from Sims. Having communication like this gives the guys the option to look elsewhere. He’s been a multiple year starter at blue blood programs and doesn’t want to wear a headset in his last opportunity. If anyone else was in a similar situation at a job they would likely look for another opportunity. I hope this tells me that Sims is a beast because CT looked solid last year. Best of luck to CT - memories of the Iowa game with laying it out to Trey were awesome and I hope he rocks at the next place he goes to. Hate the QB room got smaller but I totally get it.
If Rhule told him that, he's an idiot. So I don't believe that was the case.

Rhule said he would level with everyone and tell them where they fit. I suppose even if he said it was a competition in the fall maybe he would still enter portal because he assumed he would be the starter? Either way he is doing what he feels is best for him and hopefully he Sims showing out and not sure he could hang. Rhule says Sims is a Sunday guy - hope he’s right.

No worries there… like I said initially, you routinely bring good stuff. If this is the first time I felt like we didn’t see eye to eye (and it is), there’s a lot I do agree with you on.

A lot.

I see it as Rhule said "at this moment in time you're #2 considering all current facts". All things being equal my limited knowledge wouldn't agree. I'd rather keep CT than Sims. Tis what it is, but we lost a top 3 valuable player in my mind. Don't blame CT for leaving, wish we could've kept him.

At least he’s played some big boy ball. What’s HH’s career percentage? I like HH and nothing would make me more happy to see him succeed. But what’s the deal with your weird infatuation and over the top defense of him? Seems unhealthy. What’s he got on you? Career ending d!&k pics? Financial records? Maybe some one could help you out here.
Again, I would say at most.

Time to move on. Not every program has 6’5” gunslingers who double as the fastest guy on the team waiting in the wings.

Either you all agree with Coach Rhule (and me), or you don’t.

HH is not the fastest guy on the team, not even close.

Coaches/schools that can handle themselves the best in the NIL/portal world will end up will being the greats. Every offseason will be wild, but you just have to roll with it. The roster won't be set until August, that's the new reality.

I think some of you are being a bit dramatic about Casy. We didn’t just lose Mahomes. We lost .444 winning percentage QB that lived off of the coattails of Treys speed last year. He was extremely slow at processing plays and very fragile.

I appreciate his time @ NU. Im disappointed we won’t have the depth like we’d hoped but I'm very excited about Jeff. We don’t need someone throwing 80 yard bombs. We need someone to move chains on consistently.

Casey is probably the best QB weve had since Crouch. Those of you saying he was bad because of the teams record last year are naive.
Wow .. happy hour starting real early in your household.

So you think Casey is better than TMart, J-Lo, Armstrong, Zac Taylor, and Ganz? If so.. seek help.

If he was that good we would have went to a bowl game.

And no way was he better than Tommy Armstrong or Martinez. That's laughable

That's not what you said. You said, " a 6'5" gunslinger who doubles as the fastest guy on the team. " Now you want to use all these fuvking qualifiers?
I get the sense all this vitriol isn’t really about our backup quarterback

What did I ever do to you sad sacks? Are all of dingle’s laughably wrong/hypocritical opinions somehow my fault?

So the kid goes 2 for 9 for -1 yards in the spring game, and that qualifies as a "gunslinger?"

I don't have any vitriol for HH or you. You're as heavily invested in HH this year as Nikki was last year with Purdy.
You had no issue criticizing Purdy or having others join you in their criticism.
HH will get his chance this year, for the good of the program let's hope he is multiple levels better than Purdy.

Don’t think Coach Ruhle ran off CT but believe in the film room CT saw what the offense likely is going to be, which will try to protect the offensive line by not asking them to be great in pass pro this first year, and rely on the QB to make plays with his
feet. Wish him well.

No vitriol kong, just calling you out on what YOU said. Why do you want to project what dingle said? Just own what you said. Either that or show me where Rhule called HH a "gunslinger" or that he said he was the fastest player on the team, but with no qualifiers.

Sure. But what about the naive people freaking out thinking he will spend his final year with a headset on. He didn't want to battle. Good riddance. And welcome Sims

I do think hes better. He doesnt have the legs but his ability to read defense and his pass accuracy... not even remotely close. If he has a good offensive line wherever he ends up I think he makes an NFL roster and stays in the league for a long time. We had some awesome athletes at QB but it was a different type of talent.

I think what you’re missing here is the concern should Simms go down. Having Thompson as a back up sure would be nice unless someone else really steps up in a big way. We knew what we had with Thompson, and he seems to be much more capable than the rest of our quarterbacks not named Jeff Sims.

The problem with trying to rank QBs is that there’s been too many variables. Different offenses. Different OCs. Different supporting casts. Then there’s the leadership etc. IMO CT might be the best pure passer we’ve had since maybe Berringer. That said he didn’t have near the production with his feet that most of the other guys had. TA and TM had great passing numbers but that was in part due in part to the number of years they played and how many plays they ran. It’s apples to oranges. Their run threat opened up a lot in the passing game.

QB depth just went from good to once again scary. Are we down to 3 scholarship QB's?
Here we going again. When was the last time Huskers had two good quarterbacks? Tommie and Brooks, Runty and Humm? We don’t know how good Sims is and Husker quarterbacks always get hurt. If Chubba is ever put in a game I am walking away and doing something else. His ineptness is not worth the angst and heartbreak it causes.

But doesn't Casey make alot more money now on NIL than he can make as a free agent in the league?

before CT announced a lot of folks on this board said he wouldn’t leave because his NIL deal was so sweet. What happens to that $? How much was it?
