Good to keep the top talent in the conference. Hopefully, they can pull off a national title again soon.
Just surprised that he would have committed any where quite this early since he would have been able to pick his choice of schools later than most kids. Schools would make room for him. Of course he could still change his mind. Maybe he did it to get some peace and reduce the number of schools constantly pestering to talk to him.
P.S. I hope it's not because he doesn't trust the protection by his Uncle.

Who cares....unless he gets the starting job as a freshman he will probably end up in the transfer portal anyway.
According to the article, "The quarterback position at Ohio State has become a launching pad to NFL success, and Raiola could be the next in line in Columbus." Guess he doesn't know about Vince Ferragamo, Bruce Mathison, and David Humm?

This is somewhat true under Ryan Day who employs a pro-style QB - not like the read-option style that Urban Meyer and Jim Tressel featured (Pryor, Braxton Miller, JT Barrett, etc....) for the 20 years (or so) before Day who has sent Haskins (RIP) and Fields to the NFL. And Stroud is projected by many to be the overall no. 1 pick in next year's NFL draft. Keep in mind, Day was a QB coach in the NFL before landing at OSU

Actually, according to OSU's Eleven Warriors site, OSU is not pursuing a high caliber 2023 HS QB and will probably go after a transfer portal QB next year to fill out their QB roster behind 2022 high 4-star Devin Brown and former 5-star Kyle McCord - both are sticking around hoping for their shot in 2023 after CJ Stroud (probable no. 1 overall pick) leaves. To say their QB, RB and WR rooms are stacked is an understatement.
They had a decent shot at a NC in both 2020 and 2021 if they had an even average defense. I guess there's a reason they fired their whole defensive staff after last year. Everybody moved the ball against that SORRY unit
The only certainty in our Universe is that nothing ever remains constant. Programs will rise and fall, it's cyclical. I know there are fans who believe the Alabama's and OSU's of the world will remain on top forever but that's just not possible. Bottom line, enjoy super success when it comes your way because it is fleeting.
Raise your hand if you actually believed NU, at its current state, had a shot at the #1 QB prospect. Maybe if we start winning a couple games we can aim to get regular top 15-20 recruiting classes again. Maybe if we win the division again we could be in contention for another 5 star here and there. But after a 3-9 season? The top QB prospect? Why would any kid in his right mind make that decision? This is not news. It was always a publicity stunt to me, basically throwing a bone to his dads old school with no real intention of ever playing here. Not gonna fault the recruiting staff for going for gold, but take a look in the mirror and then go put your efforts into attainable goals.
Exactly. The transfer portal has altered the meaningfulness of recruiting classes. OSU will likely still sign two more QBs in the same class and only one will stick around.
While your theory sounds good, OSU has had only 2 losing seasons since the mid 1960s. One was in John Cooper's 1st year - in the late 1980s - and the other was in 2011 - Luke Fickell's interim HC year when he went 6-7. They've been the most consistent CF program during that span. Quite simply, their fanbase and supporters couldn't stomach or allow a losing year - yet alone a 2 or 3 year losing or average period. They'd fire everyone involved
the same was said about NU. It can and will happen. We might not be alive, but it will.
The biggest difference between NU and OSU is the recruiting bases of both schools. OSU doesn't really have to travel more than 200 to 300 miles to fill out a solid roster which is a big plus for kids wanting to play at a big-time program close to home and giving his family / parents a chance to watch him at home games.
While I agree, no one can predict 100% what the future holds, it sure isn't changing for OSU anytime in the near future.
Say what you want this is a HUGE miss by Nebraska. A son of a former Husker great whose Uncle is the offensive line coach. The only thing worse than Nebraska's win loss record is the acceptance of the record by our athletic department and fan base.
That probably also means he doesn't believe his Uncle will be coaching at Nebraska during the time of his college career.
Agree, one attracts the other and vice versa QBs and WRs). Take a look at their QB, WR and RB depth - it's insane. If those kids get into the 3 deep at those positions, they just don't transfer hoping to get a solid chance to play at OSU and a decent shot at getting a real good look by the NFL

He was behind Garrett Wilson and Chris Olave - I believe they were the 1st two receivers taken in this year's draft. They have TWO former national no 1 receivers on this year's coming roster in Fleming and Egbuka. But the real star could be Marvin Harrison Jr. Both Harrison and Egbuka tore it up in the Rose Bowl when Wilson and Olave chose to sit out
I think the real star of the WR group is the coach - Brian Hartline - who is still only around 34 or 35 and still possesses (for the most part) his NFL WR skills which is really impressive to the kids he's recruiting. They don't have to listen to some pot-bellied coach tell them how to do things like some other places but actually get to watch a coach who still has better WR skills than they have show them what he wants done. Kids love Hartline
And neither of them succeeded at that level either (indeed, RIP Haskins). OSU is NOT QB university. Wr university, sure. But they have about as many SUCCESSFUL qbs in the league as Nebraska does...lmao. I don't get what Riola is thinking, but if I were him I would've entertained Alabama more than wr university of he wants to be a successful pro qb
