Jameson Williams transferring to Alabama just shows how stacked the OSU WR room was and is right now. He was behind Garrett Wilson and Chris Olave - I believe they were the 1st two receivers taken in this year's draft. They have TWO former national no 1 receivers on this year's coming roster in Fleming and Egbuka. But the real star could be Marvin Harrison Jr. Both Harrison and Egbuka tore it up in the Rose Bowl when Wilson and Olave chose to sit out

I think the real star of the WR group is the coach - Brian Hartline - who is still only around 34 or 35 and still possesses (for the most part) his NFL WR skills which is really impressive to the kids he's recruiting. They don't have to listen to some pot-bellied coach tell them how to do things like some other places but actually get to watch a coach who still has better WR skills than they have show them what he wants done. Kids love Hartline

And you didn’t even mention top 10 2023 draft prospect Smith-Njigba who caught 95 balls for 1606 yards and 9 TD’s, of which 60 for 958 and 6 of those TD’s came in his last 5 games.

Say what you want this is a HUGE miss by Nebraska. A son of a former Husker great whose Uncle is the offensive line coach. The only thing worse than Nebraska's win loss record is the acceptance of the record by our athletic department and fan base.
And the kid has only visited the state of Nebraska a few times. He has zero allegiance to Nebraska. He can't remember Nebraska being good. You do remember what an OSU booster offered the Ewers kid who just transferred from OSU to Texas right? ONE MILLION$ was his reported NIL deal if he signed with OSU and started for them. I don't doubt that Raiola got a similar offer.

we haven't signed a 5* player in 12 years and now it's a HUGE miss to not land an early verbal from the #1 recruit in the country?

love it!!

Stop being so gullible

Dylan was dangled out there so uncle Don could get a job and a big fat paycheck and we didn’t hesitate to take the bait

And neither of them succeeded at that level either (indeed, RIP Haskins). OSU is NOT QB university. Wr university, sure. But they have about as many SUCCESSFUL qbs in the league as Nebraska does...lmao. I don't get what Riola is thinking, but if I were him I would've entertained Alabama more than wr university of he wants to be a successful pro qb
He should go to USC. Lincoln Riley knows a thing or two.

I think you have it backwards. WE hired Don so that MAYBE we had a shot with his nephew. I have NO doubt that his nephew was one of the reasons he was hired followed closely by the fact that he was soon to be unemployed when the Bears fired their head coach. Personally I think he'll turn out to be a good hire and I'm not all that worried about a QB who probably won't start a game for 3 years if ever.

I know this is me reaching to feel better about this but watching film of William Watson I think he’s every bit the QB of Raiola. You take that same kid and put him on a team in AZ his stats are just as good as DR. The more I watch Watsons film the more of a steal I think we are getting.

Totally wrong. The $1.3 million was with a New Jersey marketing firm and had nothing to do with an OSU booster. In the $1.3 million deal, it was reported that he needed to start in 8 games by the end of his sophomore year (not sure how true that was) which wasn't going to happen since he was 4th on the 2021 depth chart behind Stroud, McCord and Jack Miller who has since transferred out. Ewers transferred to Texas where he has a shot at starting in 2022 with their QB room nowhere near as deep as OSU's

Call me crazy, but I suspect most high level recruits would just as soon win more games than they lose, not be a member of one of the worst teams in the conference and just maybe have a chance at playing in a bowl game

he was never coming here - they were mercy visits

The biggest difference between NU and OSU is the recruiting bases of both schools. OSU doesn't really have to travel more than 200 to 300 miles to fill out a solid roster which is a big plus for kids wanting to play at a big-time program close to home and giving his family / parents a chance to watch him at home games.

While I agree, no one can predict 100% what the future holds, it sure isn't changing for OSU anytime in the near future.

True, there are 11-12 metro areas with football talent within 2-3 hr drive of OSU.

And what Alabama QBs are super successful in the NFL in the last 10-20 years? Fields went to a bad situation and it is too early to tell whether he will be successful or not.

I didn't mention him because it's pretty much a given that he's the top returning WR in the country in 2022. Their WR room is jaw dropping. And they've recently become the favorite for top national 2023 WR Innis.

What QB wouldn't want that type of WR talent to throw to ? I also read that OSU, Michigan and PSU are not pushing the NIL deals by their boosters to recruits. The same goes for Alabama, Georgia and a few others. OSU's logic to recruits is that the NIL money will be there once they prove themselves on the field. I read the same thing with Saban and Alabama. If you look at some of the insane NIL deals to HS recruits, it's by schools that haven't had much success lately and are basically desperate

Neb had the same chance of landing this kid as Frost has on being the head coach in 2024. Slim to none. You can't blame the kid for looking elsewhere.

The only certainty in our Universe is that nothing ever remains constant. Programs will rise and fall, it's cyclical. I know there are fans who believe the Alabama's and OSU's of the world will remain on top forever but that's just not possible. Bottom line, enjoy super success when it comes your way because it is fleeting.
I am not sure that dominating college football for 14 straight years is "fleeting", but I do understand what you are saying.

I wasn’t confident he would commit or sign given the last 4 years. No matter how many times he visited, I thought he was only considering Nebraska out of respect for his father and uncle.

Alabama is right there but keep in mind that they took Jameson Williams as a transfer from OSU and he turned into their star receiver. He was 3rd on the OSU depth chart behind Olave and Wilson who were the top 2 receivers taken in the NFL draft. OSU will have the top receiver in the country returning this year in that Jaxon Smith whatever and if they get a commitment from the top 2023 receiver Innis, they'll have 3 national top receivers in their class next year in Fleming, Egbuka, and Innis. No way Alabama stacks up against that right now. 3 or 4 years ago - maybe

Heard of Burrow? Fields? Stroud? The number one overall QB in the draft next year. Your turn…..

OSU has had better WR room than some NFL teams. Unreal. Any qb would have good numbers with the talent in Columbus these days

Agree. Too many people here are trying to use Meyer and Tressel QBs - which were read-option college QBs - as the standard for OSU QBs. Ryan Day utilizes pro style QBs and was a QB coach in the NFL. Some just refuse to see the difference.

I think we need to move on and win football games, establish a winning culture in a state that is 100% behind Husker football and the top recruits will come here again.

Tua should be, too, with all his new weapons.

Mac Jones had, what, the best rookie season ever for a quarterback last year?

ohiost fan is delusional. Bama is 10x the program they are in every way.

Hurts, Tua, and Mac are all the same person...very low ceilings that will never be elite, toss Fields in that group as well. Don't be surprised if 3 of those 4 are on different teams in 2 years. Neither Ohio State nor Alabama have had much success with their QB's at the next level, though there is certainly something to be said for how many of them are drawing an NFL paycheck at the moment.

The point was that it wasn't some "giant miss" by NU to not land him because he day played at NU 25 years ago and we hired his uncle. Look at the recent success of OSU and their QBs AND what Ewers was offered in NIL money when he signed originally with OSU. This wasn't a miss by NU.

So how was my post "TOTALLY WRONG"? It wasn't. A million dollars from a New Jersey marketing firm...I'm sure they're Rutgers boosters.... AND he needed to start some games in order to collect. I would say I was virtually TOTALLY RIGHT.

Mac Jones landed in a very favorable spot in New England. OSU QBs will have success in the NFL going forward, and recruits are noticing OSU QBs getting drafted in the 1st round. CJ Stroud will mark the 3rd QB taken in the first round since 2018.

How about CBS Sports having Levis as the way too early #1 overall pick in 2023??

makes sense - everyone gets better once they leave the lame boring slow never-win B1G

No, the point is you stated things as facts that were not. Now you want to change the narrative. It's OK to have an opinion, just say so.

Did NU offer him? Did they host him and his family? Did they really want him? If it is yes to these then, yes, it's a miss. If you are saying it wasn't a miss because we weren't going to get him anyway, that is a defeated attitude.
