I have done crazy **** all my life, falling, or jumping off things, fighting, football, wrestling, etc., and also grew up on a farm, then farmed myself into my mid 30s, worked in the off season in both beef and pork plants, and have now been in the construction trades since, so plenty of places to tweak alignment out of whack.
My first experience with chiro was for lower back pain (big surprise, right...lol) and after getting an adjustment, was told to make an appointment for follow up, either the next day, or soon after. I made the appointment, but never went back because I was able to go to work, and get through the days. The guy I went to, used to travel on the rodeo circuit, and treated cowboys who were busted up, and needed treatment just to ride that day. He told me I reminded him of some of those guys. First time or two, he'd say 'take it easy for a few days, and I want to see you back in the office in a day or two'. to which I'd say, 'Doc, I'm going back to work from here, and wont be back unless I cant work', and that is what happened.
That relationship worked great after that. I always paid with cash, ($50 per visit)
Jump forward a bunch of years, and the guy finally retires, so I go on a referral to a young, new guy. When we met, I told him about my old Doc, and our arrangement. He was skeptical, but agreed for us to try it. After seeing me a time or two w/o any follow up care, he acknowledged I meant it, and we just went with it. Also always cash pay.
He's a good friend now, that I hope I rarely get to see.
