Whipple is like "throw another million on the pile before retiring, what's the worst that can happen?"
It’s called the Whipple effectMaybe Mr. Whipple can develop QBs?
Who did you want him to hire?Hope it works, color me skeptical.
Maybe. Would give him a chance to stick it to Oklahoma next year. Kid obviously wants to be the next great quarterback. Didn't work out at OU, so learn under the guy who just put a kid at the top of the draft board for qbs.I mean Rattler is obnoxious but I do think Whipple could win the West with him
Wonder if the OU revenge motivation works without Riley? Also wonder if Venables is recruiting him to stay put?Maybe. Would give him a chance to stick it to Oklahoma next year. Vegetable is not cruitin Rattler. Is trying to retain WilliamsWonder if the OU revenge motivation works without Riley? Also wonder if Venables is recruiting him to stay put?
Pitt only rushed for 171 yards fewer than us last year for the RTDB guys out there.
That's a pretty funny auto-correctVegetable is not cruitin Rattler. Is trying to retain Williams
this would be like electroshock treatment for our receiversI mean Rattler is obnoxious but I do think Whipple could win the West with him
Amazing how none of the critics answer that question, especially that WestCoastHusker guy.Who did you want him to hire?
WCC guy is on an extended vacationAmazing how none of the critics answer that question, especially that WestCoastHusker guy.
I think it’s a solid name, but I just don’t know how he will mesh with Frost. Whipple is a sideline play caller who has the QB run over to him to get the play. He uses west coast terminology and principles. I think if this is year 1 it’s a home run hire, year 5 either the entire offense is going to have to change, or Whipple will.Who did you want him to hire?
I'm sure it's a dumpster fire of a vacationWCC guy is on an extended vacation
If it works use it evety play... If it doesn't don't use it. Simple if you ask me.People are going to be furious when they see how much he likes the WR screen game.
I'll tell you who knew the screen game pretty well. Bill Callahan with Marlon Lucky. Several great examples here.If it works use it evety play... If it doesn't don't use it. Simple if you ask me.
If anything worked every play (or anywhere close) football would be very boring. If it works use it evety play... If it doesn't don't use it. Simple if you ask me.
It just has to be sprinkled in three or four times per game at the opportune times. It's a great play. The Chiefs use it fairly often and I'd say it works about 60% - 70% of the time.If anything worked every play (or anywhere close) football would be very boring.
It always seems to work fine when used against us.It just has to be sprinkled in three or four times per game at the opportune times. It's a great play. The Chiefs use it fairly often and I'd say it works about 60% - 70% of the time.
So in essence Pitt was also a better rushing team than Nebraska? In a traditional sense.Big difference is a lot of Nebraska's rushing yards are from the QB position.
That’s how I feel. Frost’s play calling sucks. This looks like a good hire. Let him call the plays.Interesting. Who knows what we will be running next year, but I can’t imagine Whipple would come here to run Frosts offense. Maybe a hybrid of his and Frosts? As long as Frost doesn’t call the actual plays I’ll be happy.
So, just the RB coach remains.
Yes I just hope Frost doesn't get stubborn and if there are a few bad drives doesn't take the play calling back overThat’s how I feel. Frost’s play calling sucks. This looks like a good hire. Let him call the plays.
Good point. Instead of scoring 224 more points on the season, they probably only scored 182 more points on the season. These stats are comparing Pitt's 13 games to Nebraska's 12. The season totals are worthless. Only the per game stats carry some meaning.
Pitt fan here. Whipple used it whether it worked or not, and it very rarely worked. It was one of the frustrating aspects of his play calling. Why he kept calling it was a mystery. If it works use it evety play... If it doesn't don't use it. Simple if you ask me.
You sound like a jaded Nebraska fan. Welcome aboard!Pitt fan here. Whipple used it whether it worked or not, and it very rarely worked. It was one of the frustrating aspects of his play calling. Why he kept calling it was a mystery.
Oh good, now we can add a Pitt fan to the Husker fans who complain about play calling without knowing a single thing that goes in to it.Pitt fan here.
