Not really! Sad to hear that AM is hurt but it's the truth! I respect AM's athletic ability but let's be honest! The kid is a baller, great athlete, much respect! AM has the ability to hurt you with his arm and legs! It doesn't hurt my feelings that he's not playing! That is out of respect... I would rather face the two freshman! I have watched every Nebraska game to know AM is a gutsy player and make your offense go!

Not really, I seriously doubt SF 100% knew at that moment that AM was gonna miss this game due to injury. Which is why AM played the 2nd half.

So at the time his decision to burn Smothers RS was really stupid..

No, he didn't know AM was gonna be able to finish the game. Why wouldn't he put the back up qb in?

You obviously aren't aware that virtually every time this situation comes up, it is the PLAYER'S decision on whether or not to play. HE STILL HAS A REDSHIRT YEAR AVAILABLE. There is ZERO doubt that this was discussed prior to the decision to put him in the game. I have only heard of ONE QB ever deciding to sit versus play when given the opportunity to play and that was Curt Dukes when Frank was the head coach.

Who the hell knows if Smothers will ever have the chance to play meaningful snaps in a game let alone start one for Nebraska? Pulling the redshirt off isn't like losing your virginity. You've still got that year IF Haarberg turns out to be the next Andrew Luck who starts 3 years in a row and leaves early for the NFL. It's the kid's decision not that mean old coach's alone.
