Yes. Can he add a couple big runs when he’s getting pressure on every play? And no turnovers.
Since we seemingly lose every game by less than a score and Martinez fails to score in crunch time 100% of the time, wasn't Martinez's last play always going to be freaking sad? #inevitable

Does Martinez also miss extra points and field goals, does he not tackle on defense and/or special team coverage units? Does he not block the guy hes supposed to, does he not run the right routes, does he lineup wrong in the back field, does he run the wrong direction when he is supposed to get to ball.
why? for 2 useless plays at the end of the half - I don’t think there is any problem playing smothers if AM couldn’t go - but you had all of half time and 2nd half warmups to figure that out
The 2nd string quarterback is the 1st quarterback to go in during a game. It's really not that difficult to figure out
well if martinez is injured, and iowa's defense has the back up's running

No, those are separate issues. QB is the most important position on the field. It's amazing how a good QB can elevate an average team, but a bad QB can kill an average or below-average team. Martinez is bad, he kills us.
I just went back and watched the play since you guys are making such a big deal about it. I have to say, if that's what you're going to hang your criticism of Smothers on you're way more desperate in your AM love than I thought. You're the guy running around chastising people for "spitting" on Martinez, meanwhile you're throwing smoke at Smothers for ONE FREAKING PLAY where he ran into a guy (not the center, way to have your facts straight), lost his balance and fell down. Yeah, you're the great fan to lecture the rest of us on how we treat a player.
Sucks for AM that he’s injured. Let’s see what the others can bring to the table. Wish that they had had a little more actual game experience though.

I like our chances vrs two freshman QBs! Yea AM is a turnover machine but he is also 70% of your offense! We didn't have to knock your starter out this time... Wisconsin did it for us! Iowa by 10+
Sorry buddy, Smothers is gonna shut you the hell up. Mark it, just because he has an uncontrolled cannon of an arm, he's not good enough to beat out Smothers.
One thing we will learn providing Martinez has played his last game for Nebraska, we’ll find out if we have a future with Smothers or how badly we need a portal QB for next season..

That might make it worse. And again I'm all in with Smothers. He might have that it factor that I do believe Martinez doesn't quite have.
I'm just not gonna bash Martinez on his way out the door. Dude has had basically zero help around him and has played hurt almost his entire career. I gotta respect that. If you don't that's fine too.
You don’t have a clue how the kid will play. You could at least wait and see before starting up another round of whining.
Either way, Smothers is not a good runner. We're not going to be able to count on his legs like you could with McCaffrey.
