So Who Do We Go After?

So i came to see the meltdown on this board with no intention of commenting, however, after reading some of posts I think you guys need to hear some hard truths. I am a 32 year old die hard college football fan, but not until Frost was thinking about leaving UCF did I ever know anything about your storied history.

The fact is this. Nebraska is no longer relevant and never will be again. I am not saying you wont have a 7 win or 8 win season every decade or so but any national relevance is over and has been dead for 20+ years. The landscape has shifted and the major brands who have had recent major success along with those who offer prime location for NIL will prosper. You unfortunately are neither. Scott Frost was going home but your future hires will be made up of G5 coaches few have heard of hoping to get a quick pay day.

I am not trying to troll and truly wished scott frost success but somebody had to tell you the truth.
So stop holding back and tell everyone what you really think. They can take it.

He would leave. He’s a good coach and would be on my short list.
I honestly think he has to be at the top of the list. He's a guy who can win at places with little in the way of resources. He's a guy who clearly knows how to run a team and build a staff. KU will struggle this year, but if we called, how can he pass that up. Does he have the traits that trip will be looking for? I think probably so

Klieman at KSU. Won Natty's at NDSU. Fargo is a fishbowl and those people are nuts so he's dealt with pressure though a little different pressure. Major college experience. Coaches a disciplined physical brand of football. I hope he is Iowa's first call when KF retires.

Forget names and pedigree. Find a coach that coaches a disciplined physical brand of football and that is a stand up guy. Give him room to work and get results. Nebraska's culture is broken, that's the problem. You guys give games away because the team is so undisciplined and that starts at the top.

An outsider here (lived in Nebraska at one point in time). The demise of the Big 12 is a great opportunity for Nebraska. You can bring in a coach like Patterson of TCU and have recruiting inroads (again) in Texas. You have facilities and a great fan base. An innovative offense, a good quarterback, and some skill would lift you above Iowa and Minnesota.

Iowa State head coach. He has experience recruiting in your part of the country. He has a long term contract but spend the money to buy him out.
Matt Campbell may move on some day, but Nebraska is NOT a good enough program for him to move. He has already turned down 68M from the Detroit Lions. He might leave for Ohio State or ND. I hear he is a Cleveland Browns fan from way back. Money is NOT his driving force. Has much higher aspirations. Remember, Matt Campbell choose ISU 2 years before ISU even offered the job to him (his own words not mine.)

That's not a bad choice. Winning at Kansas state is a monumental task. I really don't fault anybody for not getting it done there. Bill Snyder was some kind of miracle worker.

Maybe if K-State has a really good year this year. But Klieman has lost his last 5 games, and if he has another subpar this year, it would be hard to get people excited about this hire.

For next head coach. I personally really like the offensive scheme of Coastal Carolina's coach. It's like wishbone meets the spread aka the future of football.
Campbell would be a candidate IF he had any interest. He didn't earlier but that might change with the conference uncertainty he's facing.

I would be good with that. It is harder to win in Ames than in Lincoln, and he has built a winner there. We need someone that has built something from a mess rather than someone that walked into a good situation. Right now the program is a disaster and it will take someone with a track record of success in similar circumstances to turn it around.
Actually I think there's talent in the program (that is if it doesn't all hit the transfer portal when/if Scott is fired). What's needed is someone who can develop and motivate the talent which has been Scott's downfall.

Covid lost his last 5 games. He had a skeleton crew of underclassmen by the end of last year. Don't judge him in the freak year of 2020.

Matt C is a big no.

Gus M is a big yes. Knows how to recruit, knows how to win, knows how to compete in a tough conference.

If we are hiring from the assistant pool….next coach could be found a few weeks from now in Alex Grinch.

He probably was laughing with what he saw out of the offensive genius today.
I think Alex Grinch would be the best candidate if the Huskers could get him. I am not sure he would

id bet grinch is going to ride out ou one more year and test the waters...in the sec.
I mean, 5 million at NU is a lot better than 5 million at an SEC school where you know you are losing to most of the schools in your conference.

Big Ten West blows and is ready to be taken over.

I have no idea if Grinch is a good recruiter but my guess is that he would put together a very good recruiting staff.
