Frost lost my support today. You can't talk about wanting to have a physical run game and all the other off-season talk and do the exact same **** he has been doing the last 3 seasons.

I'd go after Matt Campbell to see if he is willing to leave Iowa State since things have changed in the college football landscape. Another guy I'd look at is the new Kansas coach. He was winning at Buffalo and won at that D3 school.

No head coach, no matter what the name is, should keep a job ith 4 straight losing seasons and that is what Forst will have at season end.
MC is not leaving Ames for Lincoln. No way, no how. ZERO chance …

So i came to see the meltdown on this board with no intention of commenting, however, after reading some of posts I think you guys need to hear some hard truths. I am a 32 year old die hard college football fan, but not until Frost was thinking about leaving UCF did I ever know anything about your storied history.

The fact is this. Nebraska is no longer relevant and never will be again. I am not saying you wont have a 7 win or 8 win season every decade or so but any national relevance is over and has been dead for 20+ years. The landscape has shifted and the major brands who have had recent major success along with those who offer prime location for NIL will prosper. You unfortunately are neither. Scott Frost was going home but your future hires will be made up of G5 coaches few have heard of hoping to get a quick pay day.

I am not trying to troll and truly wished scott frost success but somebody had to tell you the truth.
Unfortunately you may be right.

Before TX and OK left, I would have agreed with you. The future of the Big12 looks bleak at best and ISU could easily end up as a MAC or CUSA team. I would not at all be surprised to see Campbell leave after this year.
Why would ISUs place in the college football landscape change anything for Campbell. He has secured a good contract and if anything his job is going to get easier. His desirability won’t change regardless where ISU ends up. He can be as patient as he wants.

I don't think it will matter. We're years away from getting this ship turned around, and college football may not exist in its current form by then.

Zac Taylor will probably be available, if we want to try hiring another former Husker QB 😄

I’m not here to kick you when you are down, but Matt Campbell has Iowa State improving every year and now ranked in the top ten.

Honestly, Nebraska would be a lateral move or even a step down for him at the present time.

His next college job is Notre Dame, Ohio State or equivalent. Frost was the hottest thing and an all but guaranteed savior…and look what’s become of him now.

All jokes aside, Will Muschamp would be a great fit

nd and ohio state is too much pressure, plus they have coaches...Nebraska is just a few miles away, huge upgrade in facilities. and he has a family so he probably doesn't want to be around any rustbelt gang warzones.

We need to do a reverse Ted Lasso and hire an English soccer coach who knows nothing about American football.

That would be a hire that I could get behind. A former Husker that's qualified to be a head coach for NU.
Why? I've seen nothing about Zac that impresses me. Gutsy QB at Nebraska that married the daughter of a former NFL coach.

What makes you think he can coach?
I like Zac fine but would agree that not only am I not convinced he is a great coach but I am not convinced he is a great motivator which even Frost admitted in his post-game presser is a big chunk missing. He said (in year 4) that we just have not been able to find a way to generate any spark. As telling as his comment that they were just guessing what Illinois might do. Get me a coach that players would run through the proverbial wall for.

Don't know where you come up with the Campbell turned down NFL jobs but don't think that's correct. He is by far the best coach available today and was when Nebraska hired Frost.
The Jets were interested. How much, I do not know, but he pulled back. Maybe they weren't serious enough about him.

he’s 40!
no, but he recruits and has cleaned up a bit.
Obviously you aren’t up to date with Coach Mullet. His recruiting is a main problem. He doesn’t like recruiting anymore and that is creating big issues with his OSU fan base. His classes average in the upper 30-low 50 ranges. He flipped a 5 star WR from OU, but only accomplished that because he gave his G5 brother a scholarship also.

I resent you bringing who he married. Zac was on only a warrior for NU, but he has the mind to lead a team. He's no fluke. Failure at the pro level is different from failure at the college level.

I doubt Campbell would take the job. He's set himself up to inherit a better situation. Have to look at the G5 teams most likely or a hotshot coordinator.

Yea, well his situation just changed. He would certainly take a hard look. I would make sure he doesn't like casinos and coeds....just to make sure it's the right hire.

I ask for discussion purposes only-- like Campbell, why leave a program that you have in the Top 10 in your home state to go to a program that has not had a winning record in 6 years? Just to get back into the B1G? I am not certain that is enough in this case.

ISU will be in the MAC. I am sure that's not what he signed up for.

If we are hiring from the assistant pool….next coach could be found a few weeks from now in Alex Grinch.

He probably was laughing with what he saw out of the offensive genius today.

I would call Frank Solich and ask him who he thinks would be a good coach. Might lift the hex that he placed on the Huskers years ago.
