None of these schools recruited him. Troy, UAB and south Alabama were the ones recruiting him the hardest. Louisville and old miss were the “big guys” that came in late. I think Louisville offered him. He’s Not as good of an athlete as Luke but a better arm.
“I think Louisville offered” LOL.
They offered same weekend he committed to us before his Jr year & Ole Miss offered right after. Ole Miss stayed on him until he put everything to rest when he came out during his jr season saying he would not be posting any more offers & would only take 1 official visit to us.

I'll leave this right here so those that have not seen what this kid is all about. Logan is taylor made for this offense as his HS offense was almost identical to this one here at DONU. With AM & LM in this O is like trying to fit square pegs into round holes. AM is fantastic but he and Luke are the wrong QB types for this Offense. If you watch Logan is something that AM and LM aren't which is very deliberate and decisive in what he does with lightning fast blinkers which yes are faster than Adrian and Luke's as they can't get the timing of the offense down..Enjoy!!

Good film, I have watched it several times.

As typical for HS QB's he tends to look at one receiver as the primary target. You don't see him looking around much. That won't work in college. He has to learn to look off safeties.

For as much as I hear the QB guru coach comment on his technique, I like his fairly quick release from the point he decides to throw until the ball is gone.

He obviously loves the stop and go move, he will get killed in college ball with that at some point as the pursuit catches up.

I also like that he keeps his eyes down field when scrambling.

He throws well on roll outs and they have him go left a lot which is good. A rarity for HS QB's.

Now the downside - he claps sometimes. Someone needs to be all over that.

I absolutely do not believe Scott is playing the best players . If had done that his first year here he would have had a winning record and been to a bowl game that year as well

Come to think of it, I guess you could say that if Scott was a good clock manager he would have had a winning record that first year as well.
Who do you think is not starting that is better than the player ahead of him?

Certainly can't say Luke any more, can we? He has been hideous in the passing game, just clearly more liability than weapon on a called pass play.

They must know Adrian isn't good enough when he's hurt like he is and can't complete easy balls, but I don't think they have anyone who is ready to do it better.

Reading the "tea leaves", everytime his name comes up on the Omaha morning show, I get the sense he's not as highly-thought of as by some here. It came up again today. Just find that interesting.
I think I heard the bit you're talking about. To me Benning's reaction was more of a "For WHAT would you do that at this point in the season?" reaction. I didn't take it as a, "Kid can't play" reaction. Like, show me that you can win an un-pretty game with the guys you have. It isn't time to try to jump start the Logan Smothers era in a meaningless game in what should be horrible weather in Piscattaway.

And I agree with him, if you put him in and it goes badly you're screwing with his confidence and his mindset. Maybe even getting him hurt. Whoever his LT is, it will be his first start at LT. Big yikes to that.

OR let's say it goes great. What will we hear all offseason and all summer and all fall camp? Why wasn't this kid starting all year? When does AM transfer? What position do they move Luke to? QB controversy, QB competition, did you place your bets for Smothers to win the Heisman yet. Get all your QBs feeling some kinda way for months when there's nothing to be done about it.

Smothers was offered in May of his 10th grade year, committed in July, Ole Miss offered 2 months later & recruited him the entire time, even convinced him to attend the egg bowl that Jr year. They didn’t come in late. Louisville offered was posted & they offered before he got home from his Nebraska trip that he committed on, & we still have folks that have no idea about his recruitment. LOL
No way to know what “offers” were made. He was quoted sometime beginning of his JR. Year right after his Ole Miss offer that he was done posting anymore offers & he was 100% sticking with us (& Coach Frost/Coach Verdu) and would not take any official visits except the one he would take to Nebraska. I always admired him for that. I told my son about it & used it as an example about what commitment meant and how it’s more than just being about you (he is a young athlete). It was reported during his senior year that Ole Miss, Auburn, FSU, Ga Tech, NC, OHio st, Kentucky were still trying to flip him but he held true to his word about us being the only official visit. Baylor & Arizona St was also reported trying to get him on campus during Sr. Season but also told them no. So are we as a fan base now declares how good a player is by the offers that we “know” about?
McKenzie Milton only had 3 offers, Hawaii, Air Force, & Central Florida. That’s it. So are we saying he wasn’t good, not a P5 QB, someone to be very critical of?????
I don’t care who all offered that we don’t know about, doesn’t change anything. He IS going to be a great QB for us before he leaves.
Some people refuse to understand that most offers are self reported or reported by their high school coaches. IF a kid shuts down his recruitment and won't talk to potential recruiters, there's no way to know for sure how many offers he might have had. Suffice it to say, Ohio State liked what they saw from Smothers whether he had a commitable offer from them or not. Talented kid. We'll see how talented.

IMO, Jurgens shouldn’t be starting at center. Other than that I don’t see much else. On defense, I would like to see more Payne or Daniels than Nelson.

I am not impressed with Payne. He played quite a bit early and there is a reason you don't see much of him now.

I mean he can rotate in with Nelson, but he isn't any better than him. That OLB position is one of the weakest on the team, but Chinander wants to play with 2 OLB's on the line. If you got rid of Tannor, you can play Nelson and Payne on that side and Domann on the other. Daniels is our NT and one of the best on defense and should be on the field as much as possible. Stille should be a good 3-4 DE but he seems to struggle there for some reason. It seems like he tries a little harder when he's playing more of a DT role. Rogers or Robinson would play the other DE spot. Chinander is an idiot for thinking we have the personnel to run a 2-4-5 nickel defense, especially when Domann is the nickel. If you put Domann on the line instead and had him rush, I wouldn't mind it near as much.

Smothers not starting. McCaffrey has an issue with his knee right now. MRI after season. Smothers is getting reps in practice. Martinez’ shoulder is fine.

So does that mean McCaffery is 100% out tomorrow? Or is he still #2 (no pun intended)?

Stille is not struggling at DE. He's solid and pretty consistent with his performance.

When he's lined up more around the tackle instead of the guard, he struggles. He's more consistent with his reads when he plays inside.

Where do you come up with this stuff? What is a 2-4-5? I give you credit, it does add up to 11.

Doman is not our worst defender from the LB position. He was a safety at one time.

Stille is fine, he works his but off and is the most consistent D lineman.

Not sure it got brought up, but so far our true frosh QBs seem to play better than the more experienced versions of themselves... sooo
do we want to play Smothers now before we develop him into a worse version of himself?

Someone mentioned the white towel, but I think leaving the failing QB in there could also be interpreted as a white towel of sorts.

I’m not actually saying we need to start Smothers, but also would like him to have some game experience this free year to help him compete in the 2021 “who can hit a bus and throw more than 5 TDs” QB competition.

Based on the hitch in his throwing motion, I would almost guarantee he has surgery to repair either his labrum or rotator cuff, perhaps both.
If that turns out to be the case, he should hang it up. That would be both shoulders having to be repaired and possibly now a 3rd time.

2-4-5 is a nickel defense with 2 DL, 4 LB's, and 5 DB's. Except we make one of our linebackers the nickel, so we really have 5 linebackers on the field. Considering our weakness at the position, it's ridiculous to have that many LB's on the field. Instead of putting Domann at the nickel, you get a DB as the nickel and put Domann on the line instead, since he's one of our better pass rushers. Then you put Nelson or Payne at the other OLB spot who are both decent pass rushers and run stoppers. I never said Domann was our worst LB. In fact, I think he'd have more value playing closer to the line and pass rushing more often rather than always being out in coverage. I'd be fine with running 2-4-5 doing it this way, but how we're doing it now is just incredibly stupid.

Stille has the perfect body type and base athleticism to be a 3-4 DE. He should be a phenomenal player in this system. Instead he's just merely above average. That's partly due to coaching and partly due to inconsistent effort. We've finally seen some flashes this year of what he could be, but if we're going to be successful, we really need players like him to become complete studs rather than just merely decent players.

Believed you until you said Martinez shoulder was fine.
