A vaccine is not your savior. Explain the 99.99% of healthy people that get it and recover on their own.
- 99.99% of people do not recover on their own. Most do, but a not-insignificant number require hospitalization. We are very, very lucky that this virus is not more deadly than it is. If it were, this nonsense argument would not be available to you. A vaccine forces herd-immunity, which stops the completely unrestricted spread of the virus and protects the population from outbreak. If you want things to go back to normal, you have to have that vaccine and you have to get people to take it, which, unfortunately, might not be as easy as it should be thanks to the many, many bizarre anti-vaccine and anti-government weirdos out there.
In point of fact, the trend we're seeing right now is going to make you look like an idiot, unfortunately, in the next few months. We might be on track to double our deaths in this country by January. 500,000 Americans dead. Do you realize that, MAGA Chud? I really don't want that to happen, but our piecemeal, disorganized approach to this, and the terrible leadership at the top that has done absolutely nothing about it, is to blame.
Covid-19 is like the flu in that it's a seasonal, upper respiratory illness. The 'vaccine' for the flu is not particularly effective because A) the flu mutates and B) there are so many strains, it is a best guess as to which one will dominate the season. According to my 'right wing' CDC website, the vaccine is 20% to 60% effective over the last 10 years. Have a look -->
https://www.cdc.gov/flu/vaccines-work/effectiveness-studies.htm.
- No. Experts have consistently shot down this ignorant B.S. COVID-19 is only similar to the flu in the sense that it is highly contagious and related to upper respiratory problems. The viruses could not be more different, which in many ways is a good thing, because it suggests that a vaccine for COVID-19 will be 1.) much more effective, and 2.) only need to be had every few years or so, or perhaps a booster or something in the interim after you've been vaccinated.
By the way, I am not an expert in any of this stuff, I just don't consume right wing lies hoping that they'll pan out because my beliefs are so fragile that in order to sustain them, I have to consume untruthful garbage.
