I’m far from a forestry expert also, but I am an expert on my opinion. Hell no, the fires are not related to man made climate change - it’s just another scare tactic & a liberals excuse for anything they can’t control, and a stupid reason 2 raise your taxes.

Actually.... A lot of them are made from man. People are deliberately setting fires out west. I mentioned just 2 at the top.

, yet we still have people wondering “is it real”.

No.. you have people wondering if MAN made climate change is real because the people that trumpet it the loudest live like it’s no concern.

They buy their multi million dollar mansions that are 10s of thousands of square feet of heated and cooled unused space...have their heated swimming pools.. have their vacation homes... their collections of cars... their private jets.... their large yacht... and they wanna tell me to not buy an SUV? Tell me to leave my thermostat at 78 in the Mississippi Summer? Tell me to limit my travel?

Wanna make people believe in the cause? Stop telling me something is an emergency when it’s obvious it’s not being taken serious.

Wanna get people on board? Stop buying mansions on the pacific and Atlantic coasts and preach about rising oceans. Buy 2 bedroom houses with solar panels and rain catching barrels to water the lawn.

As long as Al Gores heating swimming pool could run my house with power to spare... I’ll keep my SUV.

Time for the folks preaching it to begin setting examples. Then people will begin taking it seriously. Tell people to cut back while the folks that preach it live in luxury? Forget it. Because it’s obviously not a big concern to them.

A lot of these fires are being set intentionally. If you remember several months ago Australia was burning due to "climate change". Everyone was freaking out. Then they started arresting arsonists and the story kind of faded away

This is what happens when you elect a 'community organizer' as your president for 8 years. They know how to organize against power and 'protest'.

For decades, it was always the peaceful transfer of power from one party to another after an election.

Now it's the #Resist ********. Complete with the weaponizing of the FBI & CIA to spy on your opponent.

If we continue this path, and it escalates, we will have civil war in the streets.

It's pathetic.

Was wondering something - pictures on television, especially San Francisco, show the sky to be orange. Does it really look like that, or was it enhanced for effect?

I've seen smoke from wildfires (it was here a few years ago from fires in south Georgia/north Florida) and it just looked murky, not orange.

Yes. We had a few days early last week that were very weird with orange/yellow tint outside. The smoke was so thick that one whole day looked like dawn was breaking all day. The inside of my house was as dark at noon as it was at 6AM. Craziest thing I’ve ever seen.

I’m far from a forestry expert but can climate change really be blamed? I just watched a piece in NBC news where they and Gov Newsome trying to blame it on climate change.

I remember seeing some comments maybe a year or 2 ago talking about how CA does a terrible job of managing their forest and it leads to more fires. ...

It has a lot to do with climate change ...over thousands of years and the fact that population increased dramatically over a relatively wet time. Now that it's gone back into drought, the controlled burns are harder to do for all the people. The Sierra Nevada watershed is a significant source of California's water supply and a 1993 study of tree rings showed that 1937-1986 was the third wettest overall interval in over 1,000 years.

But ancient clues in the landscape show this is not the first time the American West has been severely parched. It's unlikely to be the last. And the recent spate of dry years is nothing next to the ancient "megadroughts" that have occurred multiple times in human history. "What research shows is a roughly 50- to 90-year cycle of wet and dry periods over the last few thousand years, with some droughts lasting over a decade. But between 900 and 1400 A.D., during the 'Medieval Warm Period,' there were a couple of droughts that were over a century long," said B. Lynn Ingram, professor of Earth and planetary science and geography at the University of California, Berkeley, and co-author of the book The West Without Water: What Past Floods, Droughts, and Other Climatic Clues Tell Us About Tomorrow.

"The 20th century was a relatively wet time, and a time when all of our modern societies were built," she said. "We've had centuries where it was far drier. We're not prepared."
