Still want Oates?

He got outcoached badly.

I called it- they’d lose early because of a poor three point shooting night and instead of adjusting they’d just keep firing. Sdsu coach made great adjustment after a Bama run. Oats let the run grow by refusing to call a timeout to get an easy basket and instead … jacked up threes and turned it over.

Calipari has never underachieved this badly with by far the best talent in college basketball.
You are living in a dream world.

I don't want him but SDSU is no slouch. I feel like that's a really tough match-up for a sweet 16 game.

Agree. I thought SDSU got away with a LOT of physical play as well. That seems to be the theme this year.

Nate Oats swept a murder case under the rug just to lose in the Sweet 16 with the best team and best player in the country

Cal has definitely underachived here and likely worn out his welcome permanently, but I think you have inadvertently raised a good point.

Fans always compare their current coach to a mythical "perfect coach". Fact is, none exist.

Whenever we do replace Cal, his successor will have his own flaws and shortcomings. The likelihood of bringing in a coach who wins multiple titles in a short period of time is, sadly, pretty close to zero.

Well said. I think Scott Drew would be my #1 option but he has his flaws (as does every coach)

I don’t think Alabama and Tennessee will ever have this good of a chance again to go to the final four.
The teams who seem to come from nowhere this year all benefited from the transfer portal. So, as long as the transfer portal is available, you can never count out any team.

I would take just 1 final 4 right now.We ran Tubby off for less than what Cal gets away with now.

People just don't understand CBB has so much parity now. Having Duke or UK on your uniforms doesn't win you Jack now. Everyone's good. Cal has problems he should fix yes, but acting like there's some mythical God out there that's gonna mimic his 2009-2017 run..I mean you're probably never gonna see that again from ANY program.

Who is asking for that?We are going on 8 seasons without making a final 4.One tourney win.

What watered down trash college bball has turned into. Just a mess of a sport.
It really is. If the NBAPA, or, the NCAA don’t do something to keep kids in school, it’s only gonna get worse & the sport will be totally unwatchable. It’s almost to that point for me, now. I used to watch every college basketball game I could find. Now, I struggle to even make it thru an entire UK game. It’s been on a steady decline for 15+ years & it’s not even a shadow of what it was in the 80s & 90s.

I don’t understand what makes CBB so much better than football & baseball, as far as age limits & and eligibility requirements. Especially, now, with NIL. Let HS seniors go pro if they want, but, if you go to college you have to stay 3 years. It works great for football & baseball & both sports are in a much better place than CBB is, right now. There will still be chaos with the portal, but, it would at least provide SOME stability. I just hope they do SOMETHING to save it. It’s a pile of **** product, right now, & it’s showing no signs of hope for the future.

And who you hiring? Steven's Wright and Donovan are pie in the sky at best. Musselman is a total weirdo who's never made a FF either. Oats can't even beat SDSU to make the E8 with by far the most talented team in the tourney. Dude from Ohio St after this year? LOL Who's this guy who's just gonna come in and start rattling off FFs?

While I generally agree with this, if Mark Few wins one this year it will be better on paper than that Cal run.

Asking for ONE final four is rattling them off? It's like someone in a terrible marriage putting up with misery because they think they can't do better.Cal IS NOT UK basketball.

Not Cal brigade, but been saying for last two years. 3 or layup MODERN offense will not win NCAAT.
I agree , Blueaz. Most teams are running this "modern" offense, and the game scores are reflective of it. Low scoring games. Boring games. Way too much dribbling by most players and too many wasted possessions because of bad shots being taken. Coaches allow almost every player on their team to go one-on-one, and not that many guys are good at it.

Few gets a top 3 seed every year beating up on the WCC and is always slotted in the west which usually the easiest bracket by far.

Agree with you here. It's just that the floor with Cal vs some of the other schools like Self with KU, Cronin since he's gone to UCLA, so forth even when they don't have their best teams, Cal's bad teams have been so much worse in the down years which are mounting up in recent years. Shouldn't be this damn volatile 14 years into a coaching tenure at Kentucky, being a Hall of Fame coach and the highest paid in the game.

Oat’s philosophy bought him one more tournament win than UK this year. Oats will never me win a title with that offensive style. Guy is overrated as a coach and definitely lacking on the integrity side. Couldn’t have happened to a better guy.
I agree with your integrity comment, but the rest of it is way off. If Oats is overrated, there is yet to be an appropriate description for Cal, the 9-mil man. Cal has his share of early loses with way more talent on the court than Bama. So, you either don't know Cal's history or your exuberance from Bama's defeat got the best of you.
