Cawood is crying somewhere. I think he loves Oates lol. I think he’s a fine coach but gets too much love

I've said all year Oats' offensive philosophy is a liability in March. To win it all his teams need 6 straight games of no cold shooting. Well tonight they were 3-27 from three.

glad to see you guys think it's always th coaches fault..even with other teams...players have no responsibility

He got outcoached badly.

I called it- they’d lose early because of a poor three point shooting night and instead of adjusting they’d just keep firing. Sdsu coach made great adjustment after a Bama run. Oats let the run grow by refusing to call a timeout to get an easy basket and instead … jacked up threes and turned it over.

Calipari has never underachieved this badly with by far the best talent in college basketball.

So the criteria for the next UK coach is that they can never lose a tournament game?

BTW, guess Reeves isn't the only player who couldn't make a shot in a tournament game (Brandon Miller). Pretty obvious but you have to guys that can make big-time shots. Pretty elementary but so true.

If I were Cal I would have next year's team shooting a ton of FTs.

I'm not saying Oats isn't a good coach.

But I am saying I told ya so. He still hasn't made an EE. #1 overall seed. He didn't do crap to adjust this game. He relies on same thing he always has and it is flawed.

Oates and Muss both run spread offense, ball screen, pitch it out for 3. When they run into someone that can stay in front of them they have no answer. They run almost zero offensive plays. They ran a few double screens for Miller and that's about it.

Edit I am ready to move on from what we have so no i'm not taking up for our guy, just my observation of watching them for a few years.

Told my daughter before tourney started I thought Bama wouldn't win it all. Suspected they'd have that one game where 3's weren't falling and Oates wouldn't/couldn't adjust. Analytics are fine and I don't disagree with them, but think Bama could have gotten all the mid-range shots they wanted. And I'm not defending Cal here. As I've said before, I don't hate him and don't think I know more about coaching than he does, but I'm ready for him to go. Just noting that Oates was once the flavor of the month here but he also apparently needs lot of talent to win.

I don't want him but SDSU is no slouch. I feel like that's a really tough match-up for a sweet 16 game especially considering Bama was the overall number 1.
