It's not strange. A lot of our fans have treated him like crap (I'd like to use something stronger, but I don't do that).
That’s an interesting argument. A lot of our fans have also defended him. I wonder which side he listens to more. Hopefully Cal is being a proper mentor into what criticism he should be open to and which he just tune out. That is certainly a valuable lesson no matter era you play in and no matter what kind of walk through life you’ve had.

You're wrong. Go back and look at the threads. He was called names repeatedly and spoken about very badly. He'd get into the game and someone would immediately post a thread about how he was killing us.
…and the reason for that thread was that we had most likely went from up 8 to down 7 after SW was put in the game…..
It just doesn’t make sense for those who keep “bashing” the ones who were “bashing” Cal/Wheeler.
You obviously feel you have a right to your opinion in that you thought SW was a positive part of the team, which you most certainly do have that right.
So, why, may I ask, do you feel that others aren’t entitled to their opinion that UK is a better team when SW is not playing?
Not one single fan, I can guarantee you, “hated” Savir Wheeler as a person. We are UK basketball fans and want the team to succeed. When Wheeler played, we were NOT succeeding, it’s really that simple.

You're saying things I didn't say and are making assumptions.

The only thing I've said or been against was his treatment.

Here is the repay of UK-UF game....his last game action for UK.

Wheeler played 25 minutes and I never heard a boo when he had the ball. Silly to push this on UK fans somehow. Cal is a known liar when it comes to injuries/player antics off the court....UK fans don't deserve to have this nonsense put on them

My nuanced assessment:
Let me start by saying i generally fall towards the Cal defender side of thing although he certainly makes mistakes and I think this situation is one him.

Wheeler was the player teams exploited both in our offense and defense early in the year and we are just plainly better without him playing a major role.

Fans as a whole knew this before Cal which is where the problem arose. As others have mentioned you had situation throughout the year when wheeler would get put in and you could hear the crowd groan. I do think that was the fans way of voicing their discontent, and it did kind of work…. I do not blame Wheeler one bit for being upset about that, it would be hard to deal with, and i don’t think it was an effort on the court issue.

I think it is fair to imply that something may be off since he is missing senior day, but so far he hasn’t publicly said anything and doesn’t seem to be causing problems within the team, so i don’t think there is a need to speculate. I do think if he did walk for senior night he would get an ovation and no boos though because he did always give full effort while wearing the jersey.

Maybe they'll at least announce his name tonight? I'm sure the fans would applaud appreciatively.

I don't quite get the Senior Night for him since he has another year of eligibility left. Come back next year and get honored then!

OK....so he played in 2 games after KU game with no issues...then this mysterious injury and now he never plays at UK. I just don't get to pin this in UK fans potential to boo him on Sr night...I doubt it would have happened but gives credence to just lying/playing with truth to justify silliness.

And some surgeons only schedule procedures on certain days.
Plus, it's the surgeon's schedule, not the patient's that generally decides when a procedure is performed. If the procedure can wait then a patient can pick from some available dates I guess.

Some procedures can be minor but still urgent.

Yeah, just one example for the skeptics on this board would be an abscess tooth. I could name a few hundred other medical procedures that are "minor but still urgent" but some would still say it can't be.

Man a lot of the anger was directed at Cal’s insistence on playing him , it was rarely personal against Sever. I think the overwhelming majority of fans at a game would cheer him .. he played hard .. but he’s done . Surprised he even sets with the team
There are a handful of posters here who do not understand basketball or anything, they only want wheeler to get his.

As the lead guard, wheeler has never won a tournament game and was on pace to make the NIT this season.

Not one person I have ever seen here bash the person on or off the court. However many have noted that the team’s ceiling with wheeler is NIT, while with Wallace the ceiling depends on the draw.

Those fans would rather have wheeler play 30 minutes a game and Kentucky go back to the NIT I assume, because there isn’t a single doubt to the team with and without wheeler.

Fans were upset with Cal because he went out of his way to put Kentucky in a position to lose. Unreal others don’t see this.

Sahvir had a minor procedure unrelated to his ankle injury this morning and will be out for a bit. Because he’s recovering today, he will not be part of tonight’s Senior Day ceremony.

I hate that he won’t be able to hear #BBN show him how much we all love him on Senior Day tonight. Looking forward to getting him back on the court with us soon!
If he's read the board he may have a different take on the love of the BBN towards him.

Hope the young man gets well quickly.

Who cares if he was or wasn't booed. With NIL, these guys are making more money than the average American by far. People pay stupid prices nowadays to go to games, not to mention parking and any food you want at the game. Taking a family is not cheap. If the product on the floor sucks, they have every right to boo.

The moment these guys started making all this money via NIL, is the moment they opened themselves up to more criticism for poor play. Nature of the beast. If he doesn't like it, get back in the gym and work on your craft. Pretty simple to me.

Are you saying "he" (i.e., the person who picked the procedure date) was Wheeler or the surgeon? Because I don't know anything about it. I don't know if he had a surgical procedure or pedicure. I was commenting on how dates for surgical procedures are arrived at.

Yeah, just float that idea here on this message board and see why it will never happen. There might be a riot if he decided to return. Edit: just so you know I'd be fine with him returning. But many would not. If we thought he took some heat this season, he would be the topic of conversation every day this next summer if he decided to return. Heck, he gets ripped regularly here and he hasn't played in a month.

You really are a drama queen.
Just honest track42. But hey, prove me wrong. What would you think about Wheeler returning and playing a significant role next season? I'd love to hear your take. Haha!

I'll say the same thing I have always said about Wheeler. He's a fine backup playing about 14 minutes but no way he should play 30+ at a school like UK.At his size you have to at least be a great shooter and ball handler like Tyler. He's just not capable of that and it's not his fault but Cal's for forcing the issue. If that makes me a hater so be it.

What’s an example of one that would put him out also for next 2-3 weeks?

I'm glad he's done. I really lost interest in the game with him playing so much. I'm starting to enjoy the game more now that he's been out. No place for a 5 foot point guard who can't shoot or play defense.

If there was boo’ing, and I doubt there was, it was brought on by Cal.

Wheeler should never have been brought here. Cal put Wheeler in an unwinnable position.

He’s just not good enough. He can’t shoot, he can’t guard, he can’t run an offense. Lowest BBIQ point guard I’ve ever seen at UK.

And he’s little. He’s 5’8” in heels. And probably weighs about 140.

You can’t play at that size without some kind of freakish ability to offset the size. He doesn’t have that.

He should never play another minute for UK basketball.

Cal tarnished his own reputation by recruiting and playing Wheeler.

Will those who still think we “need” Wheeler to be our best the rest of the season finally STFU?
