Notes from 10,200 feet.....
- Heading home next weekend after being on the road most of the past year. Starting 10/1, we did 6 months in Denver, 2-3 in New Orleans, and 2-3 in Leadville. Our renters are moving out and we're going back to reality.
- Lass is officially in love with this place, and I'm going to have a tough time convincing her to come back home. Wish I had bradyjames money, because I'd happily buy her about 20 acres with a cute farmhouse, a handful of donkeys, some llamas, goats, another dog, and a high clearance 4wd to get her around. Guess I've gotta keep slangin' insurance until that day comes.
- Speaking of burros, we are 100% doing this next year:

Burro Racing
That's out buddy Bob pulling off the big upset in the third leg of the Triple Crown.
- I've been to this town about a dozen times, but this year is different. We got to spend enough time here to actually make some friends, get to know the locals, hang out at the dive bar with all the other townie drunks. You know, fit right in.
- Had this song stuck in my head for 2 weeks:
It's been covered by
everyone, but I'll take Larry Redmon's version FTW.
* I was about to remark that
Game of Thrones picked right back up where they left off, but I don't remember anyone getting raped in the 1st episode. Kind of disappointing. We'll see what GRRM brings in episode 2.
* The "chip on the shoulder" cliche is so overused and worn out that's it's practically meaningless these days......BUT, the back-and-forth between Stoops and Calipari was a huge boon to the feisty ginger. It basically gave him a platform to talk **** about how blue collar, hard working, tough, and ready to compete in the SEC his team is. Just perfect timing, really.
My old college dorm mate used to say "it's on like a pot of neckbones." Not sure what that even means, but Aaron Perkins was right. This season --> it's on like a pot of mf'ing neckbones.
* Just got an email from Gatton inviting me to the College of Business tailgate for the home opener. I can't make it, but y'all let me know if you want me to put you on the VIP list. Donnelly is bringing the shot ski, and Brad Jordan is officiating the ice luge.
* Really happy 5 whole months into marriage, but if you ever read my posts agonizing about the depressing state of single life, and being lost in the world without a committed relationship, ole girl is looking over my shoulder as I type.
* Book list....
Running With Sherman (Chris McDougall)
Going Clear (Lawrence Wright)
1984 (George Orwell)
The Winter Army (Maurice Isserman)
* Don't forget how amazing Chet was in 1 Summer League game. Go ahead and put him in the Hall of Fame, imho.
