It’s that sense of entitlement some UK fans have that think a superstar will come to UK to be sixth seventh or eighth man off the bench. Different era of basketballi would say yes but not nowadays, players want to play to get to the next phase of their journey
No sense of entitlement on my part bud.I just believe if your gonna run that hole in your face like Cal does and say you can recruit the best of the best then do it.I could care less if Wheelers feelings get hurt, there are better point guards in the portal that can lead a team and score. There are players that could start for us in there right now but since we are now all about only playing favorites then expect what you saw last year or perhaps worse if this current roster doesnt include additional pieces.
Earned not given,remember.

Preseason top 5 roster...let's go...

Player of the year returning, one of the top point guards returning, potential breakout season for Toppin, Fredericks outside shooting

No wonder we are in everyone's preseason top 5...

When he had an injured point guard and shooting guard.

if only he had a cast around him that could beat Kansas…by 25…on their home court….

that would have been a good team….
Amazing that Houston lost 2 starters and made the elite 8 while beating a number 1 seed in Zona while UK can't get past the Peacocks.I guess they didn't make excuses.

Baldwin or Allen would start here immediately. Same with Davis. Are you proposing we start CJ Frederick over any of those 3? Those 3 are more talented and have shown to be better basketball players up to this point. Not knocking CJ but just stating facts
Who said Fredrick was starting?

Now as I stated before, a superstar coming in is a different story. A guy like Baldwin probably starts or at least competes for a spot.

It is a moot point, since Baldwin is likely staying in the draft, since he is a projected first round pick.

Yeah…it’s almost like a season can be derailed by injuries, LOL…

so if you want to hear no excuses, I guess you should become a Houston fan, LOL…they contend every single year….no excuses!!!

Which team doesn’t have a chance to flop?
I'm not worried about other teams. Why is it that other teams have to included...Hell the object is to be the best isnt it?
You can be for the team as is right now but we need some additional pieces to help offset an injury or somebody just having an off night.Whats the problem with that?

It's going to be fun when we have our annual injuries to hear Cal whining about not having enough to scrimmage with.It not like he actually could have done something to help with that.
*****, whine, complain, *****, whine, complain. We don’t need any more fair weather fans. We have too many already.

Well…I actually never once…not one time did I express that I have no concerns about this years roster. Hell, feels like i have the same concerns that I did last year.

but it is asinine to say that, when healthy, last years team didn’t stand a chance…or that Oscar was “alone”…

WE WENT 2-1 AGAINST TEAMS IN THE FINAL FOUR ON NEUTRAL COURTS OR ON THE ROAD!!!!!!!

clearly…when healthy….this team was OK. I Didn’t say they were great, but I also didn’t say that they were terrible awful and horrendous…..because I followed the season.

Its like if you say we were OK, even just OK, it’s like it draws out a ton of irrational Emotion….but its true…

To share my real concern this year is chemistry, 3 point shooting (again), can we finish drives, turnovers, can guard that prevent penetration, and a true “put me on your shoulders” star at guard or on the perimeter. A BIG factor for this year will be Damion Collins development at the 5…Basically my same concerns from last year….

No arguments on my part about anything you just said.I thought we were legit last season after the Kansas game.I mean we looked really good.Did we peak to soon, did we lose focus, were we tired towards the dance or did Cal not let them play loose instead of micromanaging things...
We have a decent group around Oscar but I'd feel much better if we just added a couple more pieces with Thiero as well.

We desreve a break with our recent rash of injuries that have derailed seasons. Maybe we luck out for a change but Cal doesn't seem to be doing himself any favors in that area and he keeps doing it over and over and it different ways.
too arrogant to change or learn

I have been screaming as an advocate for Tyrese Hunter. Was just a freshman last year, a highly sought after recruit in high school, not afraid of the big stage as he proved in NCAA Tournament and has the scoring prowess that I believe we desperately needed at the point guard position. I am not sure if we even reached out, but with Wheeler coming back I assume it throttled our potential in getting another high profile PG.

We all know by now that we are getting a commitment from Thiero this weekend. I think most of us are sleeping on this kid. He has tons of potential and very well could be our PG of the future. I believe he can even contribute right away, whether it being spot minutes or filling in if we have an injury.

With the minutes that are counted for that is already on our roster, I would be very surprised if we were to somehow get another player that would substantial make a difference, or even be a role player at this point. We would all like competition at all these positions, but kids shy more and more away from that nowadays and want their playing time guaranteed.
agree Hunter would be a good addition would keep teams from playing 5 on 4
Thiero may well turn out to be a help down the road but not next year
There is just a total void of scoring ability overall
Frederick hasn't played in a year & coming off an injury, the transfer is stepping up in competition
the 2 freshmen are unknowns, Collins & Toppin are hit & miss
just don't understand the thinking, especially after the fans were told that many transfers had
contacted UK about transferring

Exactly. CJ is a sniper. That’s what we brought him in for. Those other three players can shoot and do other things as well.
maybe he was, but he hasn't played in a year & is coming off an injury again

i truly believe that the players were mad over Sharpe being allowed to just sit & do nothing, while they were playing with injuries. Can't help but believe that hurt the chemistry

Miller's going pro, Theiro is committing to you guys, Wagner's 16 and I don't think actually can reclassify, Hunter is likely committing to Louisville, Davis has already narrowed his list, Mosley's probably going to Kansas, Green is trying for the NBA but his dad is a coach at Iowa State now if he comes back, I don't see a top tier forward or wing being willing to accept a role that he would get at UK with their current roster at those positions.
Hunter is going to KU.

Even if the likelihood of playing was slim I'd fill a roster spot just to get the minimum NIL at UK. That's a salary more than the majority of entry level jobs.

Do Louisville insiders still feel confident about hunter
He's all but locked up according to what we're being told. He doesn't want to play with Harris at KU. He's visiting Gonzaga this weekend and then coming to Louisville next week and its assumed it will be a done deal then.

That's the problem with going only 10 scholarship players and its ********.We have 13 scholarships. No excuse not to even try to get 2 or 3 SENIORS to fill out the roster if we cant get Baldwin or A reclassify...I mean I'm sure we can find some quality seniors that would love to play at UK for a season. They dont have to be all americans, just college experienced players that we can go to for some minutes if injuries hit.
I've never understood the logic of short rosters.Your kicking yourself in the *** doing it.
Who do you think is coming to be the 11th, 12, and 13th scholarship players? Legit question. It's hard enough to grab an 8th or 9th man that BBN would appreciate - but now we're thinking there's going to be 11th, 12th, and 13th guys that we're going to be excited for?

My guess is Cal doesn't want to diminish the appeal of a Kentucky scholarship by just handing it out to any ol' kid, kinda defeats the purpose of the UK scholarship being highly sought after

Oh yeah, such as who? And do those programs have highly coveted scholarship offers like UK does?

Don't forget, we had those players - Dontaie Allen transferred, remember? Bryce Hopkins, Sasha Kellya-Jones, Jemarl Baker, etc. Those guys didn't want to stick around even though they had scholarships.

Dont agree at all.We used to fill all scholarships but under Cal we barely field enough to practice. Now that the transfer portal is like free agency,it is inexcusable not to reach out to some Seniors to be and see if they want a spot. With NIL they could come here,be on the team, contribute and make some money which would probably be more than the average worker making 20 bucks an hour makes in a year.
There are players out there that would grab at the chance. They know they arent NBA bound but you dont have to have a roster of NBA draft picks either.I think that ******** has run its course here.

Duke,UNC,Kansas,Gonzaga,Arkansas,Auburn,Michigan State just to name a few all fill their spots.
Cals problem is favorites..Hopkins a good example...talks him up after LSU to the press then we dont see him no more.Thats stupidity and ignorance not to play the kid.

So we should give D3-talent players UK scholarships because some fans think that Cal should use all 13 scholarships?

And then expect highly recruited players to think UK scholarships are special, tough to come by, even though there's a bunch of scrubs on the team with full rides?

Aside from the Nerlens year, when has the scholarship thing been a big deal? Even that year was a big disappointment because Archie was essentially BJ Boston, and Willie wasn't developed yet.

Had injuries this year and we actually played better when we had 2 starters out. And let's not forget, it's not like Cal really likes to use his bench, right? Think about Toppin, Hopkins, and Collins during that St Peters game

Got a good player coming then if he improves his shooting than you might have a a really really college guard
