Lurked and read for quite a while, then in 2006 I created my profile and joined this site, which was then CatsPause. Always had the same username even though I'm retired from welding.

Im not certified but I can run a bead line through a super swoopie with no problem. People have been known to bring me iron chairs that end up looking like an art exhibit. I’ve had women tell me my welding turns them on super hot, like my welder needle. Welding can be a sexy profession people just don’t realize it.

I’ve been here since the Wildcatchat days with Rainman, Keith, Babs, BEvans, and others. I don’t post or read as often as I used to, but check in every week or two to see any news. I lost a bunch of posts as well.

Speaking of old posters, where do Darrell and the other prominent old Wildcatchat people post now? CitizenBBN was one of my favorite posters ever.

Most of those folks are still around over at Kentucky Sports Report. Haven't seen anything from Rainman or Babs for years now though. I was Blue Haze way back then .

To be honest, that photo is from several years ago; I've gained some weight since then. 😄🤓

I came here when I bought my first PC, Was a Cat's Pause print reader. Late 80s early 90s. I changed names tho.
FWIW the Cats Pause didn’t start a message board until around 1995 or 1996. They had a number of false starts and didn’t really take off until they became part of Rivals.

There were other message boards (including AOL etc.) and listservs prior to that so presumably you’re referring to one of those?

The LMD thread got me thinking... How long have you been here? Had any other usernames? I know this board has changed names/platforms over the years. I started with the last one, but the name escapes me now. I started with a different username back then and was was closing in on 4K posts, if I remember correctly, but got booted for being an early critic of Billy Clyde. What's your history around these parts?
I started here during Tayshaun's recruitment back in '97 ... when it was Rainman's board or something like that.

Don't remember when I started here. Because this is my 2nd screen name. The first was very similar. Because I seldom post during the offseason. I forgot my password to the first name.
Also posted on other boards back to the early 2000s. Forgot name of the boards. But also had a similar screen name.

FYI a long time ago I had put together an attempt at illustrating the UK message board history. I stopped updating it in 2008. Since then pretty much the only boards which have continued to this day are this one “Cats Pause/Rivals/Cats Illustrated” and “Kentucky Sports Report”. Most of the others are gone by now.

Let me know if anyone has any corrections etc.

I can't remember what I started out as, but it was on the AOL boards. Have been Ollie since mid 90's when Rainman, BEvans, etc. ran the boards.

I knew someone who worked in the program and would give tidbits every once in awhile. Darius Rice being one of them. He told Tubby he was coming, I posted it, went to an away UK football game, I think South Carolina game. Came home and everyone was going crazy. Obviously he didn't commit to UK but Tubby did come out and say he got a verbal after that weekend. Which he did.

Also posted that Rick wasn't going to UofL. Rick had just talked to Bill Keightly and told him he wasn't going to take the job. So I posted what I was told. He then talked to Jurich one more time and took the job. Again everyone went NUTS.

Don't post much anymore. Lurk some. For one, I have become really good friends with a former UofL assistant football coach. It's their livelyhood. I was taking things way to seriously, hell I couldn't sleep when I coached my son in sports when he was little, can't imagine it being my career.
I remember a poster who would post things like "does shaving cream work?" Can't remember his name but he was something else. Also UKfaninCincy who owned a gas station around Mason Ohio who was a nice guy.

I'm sorry but you didn't understand what I said, I said that I was a Cats Pause print reader, Meaning the paper publication and not a message board. I am sorry for the confusion.

I started on Wildcat Chat as "Blueworld" around '97 or '98 and have kept that name through three iterations of this board.
I remember posting during the '98 Title run and the excitement surrounding that team.

What was the story with "Dynasty Defenders"? Didn't see them mentioned on Jon Scott's timeline a few posts back. They were mostly anti-OTS if I remember correctly.
Seems there was some competition/rivalry among the various boards at times back in the early 2000's.

The Tubby Wars here were insane. Some knockdown online fights. Even the mods were divided as I recall. Some would temp ban you depending on which side you were on and what you posted on their watch!

I actually joined Maggard's premium board during the whole effort to land Calipari...like a 30 day membership or something. He gets a lot of abuse here but, he actually had the scoop during that time. His info was a good 2-4 hours ahead of everything that was being posted here. In fact, people were coming here with scoop about Pratt meeting with Cal in Chicago and mods here were deleting the posts. LOL! I assume because the info couldn't be confirmed?

There have been some wild threads over the years too. Takeovers of other boards, battles with certain Tard fans that tried to come over here and stir up trouble. Bad idea as the BBN Detectives (as I call some of you) quickly swung into action and dug up some real dirt on the dirty birds. LOL!

I'm really glad that even after 25+ years this board and previous versions have continued to survive.

I actually do have Dynasty Defenders on the graphic. I have them starting sometime around 2005-06 (dates are approximate) and as you said they were very anti-Tubby. I have no idea how long they continued to operate after Tubby left.

Anyone remember firetubbysmith.com? Those were the days. I was Dyna$tyde$troyer$mith. I have a member since 2003, I think.

Kind of ashamed to say this, but I started posting here around 2003 or maybe earlier. My first username was NumberEight, and I wound up getting kicked out for being a vocal critic of Tubby toward the end of his tenure. I was a student at UK at the time, and was in Memorial the day they introduced BCG (was in between classes that day). Next username was alex_delarge and after a couple years of BCG, got kicked off for criticizing him too. Go figure. I’ve been reading ever since but only decided to re-register a few months ago.

Since the late 90s. Been banned a few times under tubby for speaking the truth. Was posting under various versions of my name like bleedingblue, bleedingblue1 etc

This board was so bad that if you said anything negative about a game, tubby, recruiting etc you were banned. This place had a nickname called e/d stood for edited and deleted. Cause a lot of posts had that at the bottom where a mod deleted what you posted.

That's why so many other boards sprung up on the net, like dynasty defenders for example. I was a member their as well and part of the concerned fans for UK.

I used to argue with the "professor " back in the early 90s who used to be a big tubby proponent. He later come around and was one of the vocal public leaders in the organization to get rid of tubby.

in the early days of message boards, people would sign up and think they could just say whatever they wanted , citing free speech.

its kind of funny to see this going on right now with Twitter and Facebook, because veterans of message boards in the 90's and early 2000's realize - "their board, their rules" and accept it as a reality

I personally believe it got a little too warped. even by homer standards. At one point people on the pay site were telling mods to ban people on the free board even if you were following the letter of the board, but definitely not the spirit. That's where the "agenda" poster started liberally being applied.

I'm glad we're past that on a Kentucky board and self policing more or less sets a tone. Of course agenda poster hasn't completely gone away. Its been replaced by calling someone a troll and you still have the low post count person doing the free speech gig, along with some long time posters demanding everyone praise all things UK 24/7. But, IMO, its much better now than back then. I'm sure there are some that would vehemently disagree with me on that.

Lurked since the late 90’s. Started posting around 2001. As others have said…. The old boards used to be edit and delete. It was pitiful. I have been banned numerous times. I don’t remember all my usernames except for Forrest4Three and antiduke. ( actually got banned using antiduke for talking bad about coach k) was not a fan of Rainmain, Darrel and especially Babs. Cussed out JDrum too many times to count… sigh

JPScott and his graph brings back a ton of memories. I was a member and active poster at many of those boards. SEC Fanatics, Wildcat Maniacs, Wildcat Thunder and of course Dynasty Defenders. Huge shout out to Katman2000 for creating that board of free speech.
