As you know I am a Cal supporter but have called out a change is needed and it needed to start with the man in the mirror.
Sounds like Cal looked at himself and is fired up for change.
What that change will be is still to be determined for us to see.

Allen had 2 good offense games. Going forward I hope he plays a lot and light it up. I truly do.
We need a coach that's a college basketball junkie. One that lives and breathes the college game and has a fire to stomp every team.

The first five years Cal is never ever coming back . The game has changed too much and that type and quantity / quality will never consistently go to 1 place again IMO. The NBA-Gleague overseas route is taking that top talent and is there anything .. anything at all the past 5 years that shouldered you to believe John Calipari can win without far superior talent ? 5 years is a loooong damn time in basketball . 5 seasons . We have went NO WHERE but down hill . But now Cal is angry and motivated ? Baaa Haaa. . Folks don't buy it , that used car is a lemon . Oh it might get you a few miles ( 20 wins ?? ) but its going to break down . We need a new car .
PS unless a few MAJOR transfers come its going to be a long year again. If .. If Cal wasn't just blowing smoke then several staff changes will be made . And getting Powell doesn't excite me much , nice player , but not the type of player Cal needs. to get to a Final Four . Nice players have never gotten Cal anywhere . Look at IQ , dude having a great rookie season and had trouble playing ahead of K Whitney 2 years ago . Look at Allen this past year . Cal is lost . And he gives a radio interview and acts mad and you guys get all jacked up .. don't fall for it . Go back and read MORG'S comments from 2018 in the other thread . . Accept some reality .

They were much better by the end of the season than they were to start it. We lost to 2 below .500 teams through the first 12 games of the season. We scored 67 points a game and shot well under 40% in the majority of those games. The last 13 games we averaged 73 PPG and by the last game of the season we had 3-4 multiple 3 point shooting threats. All you have to do is look at the numbers and see they improved but they just weren't good enough.
We already have the number 1 transfer in the country. Marcus Carr and Justin Powell are 2 and 3 adn it seems like we may be getting both.
I don’t know if they were “evenly matched”. I mean, UMass was damn good. We had a double digit lead in both halves.
Biggest reason they beat us the first go around was because Delk was playing PG. That and Prickett kept turning the damn ball over. Not long after that, Prickett was redshirted.
No of course he didn't but Allen also wasn't doing himself any favors either. Cal still has to learn that you have to let shooters shoot themselves out of slumps. You cannot bench them as soon as they start missing shots because they're just going to come right back in and miss. Good for Dontaie to work himself out of the slump in practice and Cal talked about how he was back to not missing anything so he earned his playing time again but thats just ridiculous. He would've pulled himself out of the slump weeks ago if Cal hadn't of yanked him as soon as he started missing shots.
ell its a weak group of transfer's then . Oscar evidently was losing time at WVU . Powell isn't a Cal type player . Not athletic enough , the ole " he cant defend " excuse seems to apply here .
It is one of the most ridiculous things I’ve ever heard a coach say as well. Guys lose PT because they aren’t playing hard in practice or keep getting lost on defense.
To bench a guy because he’s in a shooting slump in PRACTICE?! That’s just odd as hell. It’s a cop out if I’ve ever heard one. That’s absolutely absurd!
We will have defenders on the court. Oscar was losing time because of his attitude not his ability. Powell has 3 years remaining and is a good shooter. We need more shooters and more playmakers. Cal said things needed to change last night but if you've paid attention to the last few weeks about who they're targeting in the portal you could get an idea that he knew he needed to change already.
Oscar is a STUD! Can lay hit nuts on the rim. I’m excited as hell to have him! He won’t get punked like our bigs did this year. You can back on that. That’s the first thing I told my Father In Law after our last game in the SECT.
It makes no sense and its one of the many mistakes he made all season. Dontaie deserved to play even through the slump. I don't agree with people that he should have been taking BJs minutes and I think thats just bias for the home state kid but he should have been playing over Askew for sure.
Travis keeps saying that he's excited for Big O too. He will absolutely man handle guys down low and will do the dirty work to rebound and defend. I like Sarr as a person and I think that he was misused but he was so weak and would get bullied by the SEC bigs. That will not happen with Oscar.
With the newest one being “the ground is moving”. What the hell. Show us you can recruit again and make in game adjustments and good decisions. Quit screaming the whole game and let the players play. Scream in practice. Let the players concentrate during the games. Or you could leave today.
I want Kentucky to go to Final Fours and win another National Championship as well.
And the debate over whether Cal in the present-day can still be the guy to do that is fair;
But after a 9-16 season, I'll take a Sweet 16 or an Elite Eight next season...

I love it! I hope Cal is pissed and motivated, usually when he talks like this he knows something we don’t know. Maybe he has some studs lined up for transfer or will sign the huge players left in HS.
I shake my head when I see fans defend his gibberish screaming while trying to run offense. It defies even minimal common sense to not see it is a huge distraction.

if everyone leaves and all he gets to is a sweet 16, all he has proven is his system is broken and he can't fix it. Another down year in a series of down years where final four wasn't really in the realm of possibility.
if he returns a team back of players and all he gets is a sweet 16, all he has proven is he can't coach unless he has uber talented players, another year of what is now the ceiling for his player development and recruiting.
settling for a sweet 16 does nothing for UK or Calipari except delay the inevitable.
The best situation is Cal returns some key players, he gets a couple of new ones and a couple of transfers, we start out of the gate hot, win either the SEC regular season , SECT or both and get to the final four. That shuts the door on people like me.
People have zero tolerance for crap basketball in December from any team Cal has, the wait until March season pass is gone and isn't returning. The we're in the hunt and we would be there except for...<insert tired argument as to why this team could have been a final four but wasn't because> season pass is gone and isn't returning.
Cal doesn't impress people next year and people are done. Cal knows it, Mitch knows it, everyone knows it.
So fans can say a sweet 16 is a vast improvement of the clown show he turned in this year, and while technically true, its meaningless in the big picture.

I don't think any Ky fan enjoys this yr but Cal sounds like we who criticize him were enjoying it, Cal is a mixed up man.
Powell will be huge, that doesn't need explaining. IQ never once played behind Whitney, never. Whitney might have started some games to try and get him going but IQ was the man from from the very first game.
