The Manhattan Project fits that bill of a high-end sports bar. Upscale bar food, tons of tv's, premium bourbon selection, hint of extracurricular activities going on in the backroom. If it was in St. Matt's rather than Clifton it'd be ***-to-elbow every gam3day.

Perhaps it was b/c it was like 1pm and empty when I went there with Ursch and friends...but I thought the layout & general vibe of that place sucked.

I've been twice...Thursday opening of CFB last year and an NFL Playoff game. Solid crowds for the games and plenty of brown water options.

Guessing that vibe would be better if it was near some other junts where folks can pop in and out to other pubs instead of on an island like it is now.

I vividly remember the days of PTIs W2 being wielded like BlueKels kids saxophone and sweater vest, or CinDogs Chinese finger cuffs.

I miss them like I miss the days of hermm being the only guy on here who knew anything about computers, Jpuck thinking he was an athlete, and tmfh being the white world wide Wes.

Recently discovered a podcast devoted to The Scorpions- Wind of Change. Obviously, that jam comes in ranking high on any list of bangers, and the premise of the podcast is an investigative look into a rumor that the song was actually written by the CIA in an effort to end the Cold War.

Who wouldve ever thought we would long for the days of the Cold War, but I would definitely trade journo twitter and our current **** *** politics for the outside chance of getting nuked or maybe shot in the face by Keri Russell.

Sports bar checklist:
-clean deep fryers
-functional kegs (no foam, cold temps)
-golden tee
-enough tv's to have all the games
-good audio (bbdk nailed this one)
-accessible outdoor smoking area

#1 is a staff that knows what channels/times games are on and how to change the channel if necessary. We just stopped going out for games in Nashville at one point because of this. Would miss at least half a quarter every time.

Since we're haphazardly throwing "clearly" around.

Clearly there's nothing wrong with a nice upscale sportsbar, even if they feel compelled to offer some asinine wing/champagne deal. They all have a time and place.

Monday night at the Silo in ‘Ville was the apex of sports bar/5¢ wing/microbeer pitcher value.

$15 was enough for severe gluttony.

To each their own, but if I'm going out to binge on sports and booze, I don't care for upscale. And $1500 for wings and bubbly is indicative of a place that wants to rob you blind. It may have a time and place for others, tho.
Their normal wings are $15. The $1500 wings are for ******** and marketing.

GYERO never fails to keep it real.

Won't step foot in a sports bar unless:

-it has .15 jumbo wings
-$5 domestic pitchers
-very high end reasonably priced bourbon list.
-wall to wall 8k QLED 3D capable TVs.
-audio tuned to -12db on the game I prefer
-smoking hot waitresses that don't attempt to offer me anything other than exactly what I want.
-air scrubbers for smoke removal
-dart boards, soccer pool, driving range, bowling lanes, wide assortment of new and old video games, pinball, and rock climbing wall.
-just enough of a **** hole that people might not think I'm enjoying myself in a upscale place. But not too much because I'm afraid of dirty people.

#1 most overrated aspect of a sports bar = the # of televisions. Any sports fan knows that only 1 television will actually matter to them.

My list, ranked in order....

1> staff that knows to turn the f'ing game on and get the sound on correctly, well before the game actually starts (BBdK consistently points this out as a huge flaw). It's amazing how often they say "oh, yeah. We'll turn it when the game starts at 1." Then they spend 20 minutes trying to get it hooked up correctly.

2> really loud sound

3> audience. no stupid dj spinning during timeouts. no dance parties going on. no loud talking during the game. everyone focused on that game in question.

4> food and beverage -- pretty low bar here. just need some solid fried food and a good burger. big quantities of beer, like pitchers is a plus.

And somewhere in there is a dope, young wait staff. Simple uniform. Just gimme tight skimpy jean shorts, and a low cut tee. Not too much to ask.

-$10 buckets >>> $5 pitchers.

F some draft beers!

- Can’t have the smaller BS baby wings/drums.

- Big TVs cover the main want to see games, while the smaller TVs can show WTF ever.

- I agree with sound, but it’s not a big deal to me however it proves you know WTF you are doing as a “sports bar”.

Your list is good but number of TVs definitely matters. Even if they’re all on the same game, they give you alternative points of view.
