Tin Roof Louisville is slightly underrated for a big Saturday afternoon/evening Cats ballgame. Always a table or two of young UK grads, not stressed or angry waitresses, cheap buckets, good game volume and a decent enough tv situation. By the end of the game it’s usually filled in nicely with some talent.

I mean that’s a pretty good scene for an old Wildcat Friend like me.

I love Paul Hornung. We're from the same neighborhood. He's a Flaget grad, Legend of a man around these parts. But that was Jim Brown's Heisman. He was also the best Lacrosse player in the country.

Up north, I’d say Smoke Justis is the best and Dickmann’s is solid, as well. My local O’Bryons works in a pinch.

It's not dumb. Many wannabe sportsbars overdo it. They'll have 900 televisions on 874 different games. Horse racing, bass fishing, espnnews, NFL Fantasy, Thursday Night Men's League, dirt track go kart racing.....K.


So, when Kentucky is playing in the Elite 8 and you're crushing it at Dickhole's, how many other games are you wanting them to show to keep you entertained? My answer is zero.

Lexington sports bar scene is pretty weak. I am looking forward to checking out the new game day center across from the Hyatt, pictures look pretty cool. Winchells or Shamrock are probably the best options that aren't chains.

For watching games, KSBAR has the best tv setup by far. You're right though not many quality options. Tin Roof in Lex sucks for games. TVs are scattered and hidden in corners, hard to see from a lot of tables, impossible to see more than 1 TV.

Not my criticism, but thanks. Said TV's could be bigger given the space they have on the high walls and the distance from your table to the screen. Us old guys need to see without squinting.

Back in the 90's, Sports Bars were one of the few places where you could actually watch a game outside your market. I lived in ACC-territory, so if I wanted to watch UK on a Saturday, many times I'd have to go to a sports bar as I'd get local coverage of some UNC game instead.

My dad was never really big into getting tickets for games, so my memories of him "taking me to games" consisted of going to this sports bar that had tiered seating and a speaker on the table that you could tune to the game of your choice. We watched many of the classic UK-Arkansas games of the 90's in there.

That old chain Damon's had the perfect setup for NCAA Tournament games....four giant screens all on the same wall, each showing a different tournament game. Each table with a speaker that you could set to whichever game you wanted to listen to. Decent food as well.

In this day and age, I only go to sports bars when I want to watch more than one game. If I'm really invested, I'm watching from home.

NFL Redzone is basically a sports bar at home and it slays...

Saturday had main screen on Horsey and 2nd Screen on College FB. Flipping back and forth b/w games all day.

Went Buffalo Wings and Rings last night. Wife decided to show her *** our first day. 4 beers, 10 wings, Chili con Queso and a Titan win WHILE also watching ATL smash the dodgers was just what I needed on a kid vacation!

IIRC, Damon’s trivia system wouldn’t let you enter inappropriate words such as “Pimp” as your player name. But it would allow you to enter the name “Piemp.”

In middle school, my buddy, his dad, and I worked our butts of to get those answers correct and have the Damon’s Trivia MC / waiter name check “Pee-emp!” each time. The “jive” pronunciation made it even better, IMO.

In hindsight, middle school was a ripe time for gaining just enough agency to submit funny names for adults to read out loud.

The Cellar is extremely overrated by people that live in Lansdowne. It's okay, but nothing spectacular. I might be biased though, as I prefer Mexican restaurants in failed clubhouses.
