Not sure if I should ask this but would appreciate an intelligent answer from someone here who has this opinion as I’m open minded and likely ignorant - how should these individual cops have been charged? I understand the uproar toward the police tactics overall which definitely need adjusting (understatement) but this is a tough one on the individual officers, right? They were returning fire over a brief few seconds. This wasn’t Floyd - which made my blood boil toward a specific human being. This was an overall f-up but tougher to place specific individual blame.

Am I off? I honestly haven’t dug in deeply

They charged the right guy who reacted like an idiot and just unloaded his clip randomly. The other two returned fire after one caught a bullet when entering the apartment. It wasn't a no knock, and they announced themselves.

**** situation but not sure how you charge officers who got shot first when serving a warrant.

Well, what they aren’t focusing on is the fact that they have an FBI investigation into whether officers lied in order to obtain the warrant in the beginning.

Now, I’m of the understanding clearly after the warrant was issued that the police had legal right to return fire, BUT if they find that evidence was falsely presented in order to get that warrant then those officers are TOAST.

And I don’t just mean they will lose their job in this situation.

I honestly think this is the only charge available under KY law based on what’s been reported.

The two officers in the doorway were executing a legally obtained warrant (there’s been allegations after the fact that the warrant had issues but at the time of service it was and still is valid) and were shot at. They are allowed to return fire in self defense under KY law.

The officer who ran to the side fired blindly into an apartment building where he knew people were inside. That’s textbook wanton endangerment 1st- meaning it’s a ridiculous hypothetical you use to illustrate the meaning of the word wanton.

I think the only way things would have been different is if there was proof the fatal shot had come from the outside shooter. Then he could have been charged with a degree of homicide imo.

Riot shorts:

*Seeing riots at the portion of Bardstown Rd where I resided for 10 years is a ******* shame. I loved my old hood, and seeing these Twitterista interlopers burning the **** down is sedition.

* I see those same morons trying to burn down the Fed courthouse (Poured in place concrete, designed by Louis & Henry)😂. Good luck idiots. That is a Brutalist masterpiece of 70’s architecture. Best building in town.

* lazy reporters file footage keep showing the same burning garbage can from different angles.

* with the shooting of the two officers and Cameron’s measured announcement earlier, this ******** is unofficially over. The cops, troopers and national guard aren’t going to allow this to accelerate further... at least in zipcodes that have real estate value.

Part of the problem has been in the reporting (shocker) by not clearly stating that the two uncharged officers were apparently in a different physical position than Hankinson and returned fire at an observed target in self defense, whereas Hankinson is described as just shooting blindly. Since it was determined that a Hankinson bullet did not hit Taylor (or anyone else), all that is available is wanton endangerment 1st.

well that's nice for people who can rationalize logic....problem is there is a HUGE chunk of the uniformed ignorant populous who still believe these officers busted in unannounced and shot her dead in her sleep. there is literally nothing that can be done to change these people's minds. many of those people are marching in these streets and that is the story they are holding on to.

I so wanted Boston to trade Herro last year. I thought he could be the dead-eye 3-point shooter they needed to get over the hump in the Eastern Conference. And then Miami took him right in front of Boston, who settled for Romeo Langford and later took Grant Williams. Probably could've traded up a few slots packaging those picks if they wanted him badly enough. I mean, who wouldn't want a no-playing Hoosier blondie and a flopping ***** for your higher pick?

C-suckers.

After watching every second of coverage on NBC today, from the announcement to AG Cameron’s presser and the questions that followed, to NBC reporters’ subsequent comments and on through Andy’s briefing, it was very clear to me that the media had their agenda set and any facts that were presented weren’t going to alter that agenda, period.

Cameron could have shown a video of BT’s boyfriend shooting the officer at point blank range and it wasn’t going to matter.

NBC literally made me sick with their narrative, knowing what would be coming later, and though I have been a supporter of Gov Andy (maybe the only one in here!) I was very disappointed with his response.

Also, correct me if I misunderstood, but I thought that the AG said in his remarks that the 3 officers at the apartment were not actually the ones who requested the warrant. They were simply enlisted to execute the warrant and had no knowledge of how it was obtained, so they aren’t being investigated for that part either.

One of the most ridiculous questions I have heard a reporter ask, was when the woman from the New York Times told the AG that they had done extensive questioning of all the neighbors of BT and they could only find an upstairs neighbor who heard the police knock on the door and announce themselves. She asked if that was “sufficient” that only one neighbor heard the police and not all the rest of the neighbors. Good grief! I mean that pretty much tells the tale that the facts don’t matter.

I am a supporter of Black Lives Matter, but I am also a supporter of the truth, as well as law enforcement, and as the AG said, every case is different.

Stay safe Louisville Wildcat friends!

Who was wayyyy out in front of Rex, besides Chumps?

(FTR)

Because he's dunzo at UK.

Me. Have always thought/known Rex is just a very unintelligent person. It has nothing to do with his addiction problems...Rex has always just been a stupid individual.

Also, I'm sure no out of state parents noticed Herro's 37 nor Bam's 20-10 night.

Pardon my dumbness but we don’t have grand juries up here and our system is totally different

was a public trial with all the facts and evidence laid out for full transparency not an option?

it seems to be whatthe governor is asking for after the fact now. Seems like there was a better way.

The whole situation is FUBAR from not taking a better path, beginning with the night they went to serve the warrant. There really aren't any "right" answers that are going to please anyone on either side, according to those real familiar with the law.

This was so avoidable from the get-go, and now we're left with a mess that may lead to more lives being ruined.

Watched a show tonight on PBS Hacking Your Mind: Us vs Them. Explains the science behind the judgemental thinking and lack there of going on now. Well worth a watch.
