This wasn’t even a discussion just 2 days ago. Literally no one cared. Was Kobe great? Yes. Was his death absolutely tragic and heart wrenching? Yes. Is this a knee jerk reaction? Yes. Same way the Mavericks retired the #24 even though Kobe literally played for the lakers exclusively. Unless he and mark cuban have business dealings and are extremely close, I just don’t get it.

The NBA players are collectively awful. They are elitist and hypocritical, and only seem to care about their own.

In baseball, when this sort of thing happens, pitchers will write the name of the player or jersey number on the mound and play baseball. Basketball players taking knees, turning the ball over, losing possessions ect.....it's just...

I hated Kobe as a player but respected him as he retired. He's the last of the Alpha old school type and will be missed. But there's too much hypocrisy coming from the NBA to take any of this serious

This is unprecedented in modern sports, a player as great and as influential as this dying unexpectedly so soon after retiring, while he was still a giant figure in the sport. There's almost no analogy other than if Brady retired and we lost him in a couple of years. I don't even think Jeter is comparable.

The point is, this does merit the discussions we are seeing, whether you ultimately agree with the idea or not.

And this is probably the most devastating loss in the history of the NBA. So please someone tell me why not?

Why areyou shaking your head? What happens after the next tragedy? Do you make them the new logo, do you rename the NBA after them, what happens?
Again we are talking about the most devastating loss in the history of the league. Again I ask, why not?

Kobe being used in naming the Staple center makes sense...Him and Magic are two of the biggest Lakers, and in many years Kobe is probably surpassed Magic in terms of lakers.

Kobe and NBA logo makes no sense.

People die everyday. We’ve all had to deal with it and will
deal with it again. Former NBA players die all
the time. Kobe was a former player who died too soon I don’t think you start naming the NBA after him. The main thing is be ready to go when it’s your time. Because we aren’t promised tomorrow.

Everyone has their own opinions on it which is fine, but if it does happen I don’t want to see any slander for it happening
