Yep! lol they were selling shirts for $5 and shorts for $10 at a VOLLEYBALL TOURNAMENT !

But Ole Keyser (same dude who said the Lakers wouldn’t sign 2 elite players ) said LaVar was a “marketing genius” :flushed::cry:
If you can sell shoes that look that ****** and are that poorly made, with little to no experience, for $495 a pair. And sell close to $150,000 worth in just a few hours, you aren't exactly bad at marketing.

You gonna be crying in a minute doofy. Remember you're to stupid and too big of a coward to come at me.

Just because you're too stupid to grasp the concepts off marketing doesn't make my statement false. Big Baller Brand didnt fail because people didnt know what it was. It was a very popular subject on this board even though Lavar Ball has zero connection to UK. It failed because people to pay $400 for shoes.

Also I said the Lakers didnt have enough cap space in 2018 to sign 2 max players. Another concept you're too stupid to grasp. Funny how you changed it to elite players.

He didn't "make" $156,000. R&D, finding production, etc all cost a decent amount of money. If Lonzo would have signed with Nike, he would have made a lot more money with no overhead costs himself and when his hype was at it's peak

Remember that this whole business venture was built on the idea that somehow shoe companies were exploiting these athletes by offering them millions of dollars for doing little more than wearing their sneakers. The nerve!

That should be the easiest money an athlete can receive. Yet somehow Lavar took that away from his son in return for a misguided business venture that never made sense from the beginning & whose execution was shabby at best.

It’s early on so at this point anything can change obviously but there area plenty of 2020 NBA mock drafts with Lamelo Ball in the lottery .

Some NBA guys have hyped him up with how he has played at the Drew League and some open runs at Rico Hines .
LaMelo grew a lot from a few years ago where his videos went viral. I think he's 6'6"-6'7" and probably taller than Lonzo now

Lol, Lonzo got paid a $1,500 per diem.

Site was created and ran by an online company that managed it for under $100 month.

Lonzo has member in the family that is a lawyer and handled all the legal fees pro bono.

They never reached that level of order. Their largest single day sales was the initial launch with just over 200 pairs sold. That kind of shipment is easy to manage. Also, shipping was one of the larger complaints from customers. Which indicates it likely wasn't handled professionally.

All of it was ran out of the Ball family home without issue from HOA.

Again, very low overhead.

Again very low sales. This is like a small time Etsy operation. Bottom line is they weren’t profitable or else you would be seeing them pick up market share. They didn’t. Nobody wears BBB. They overpriced **** and went under, just like predicted. You can speculate about how cheap it may have been but at the end of the day they failed.

He finally figured out that maybe he should just sell the shirts for double what he paid for them rather than have them collect dust. You’d never see Phil Knight hawking Nike’s anywhere for five bucks lol.

In your opinion perhaps; however, in reality they did quite well for their inexperience in the market. They took a risk, profited a few hundred grand or more and gained further popularity from it. Now Lonzo and the youngest Ball can sign with Nike and make even more.

Did quite well? Not compared to simply signing a shoe contract worth millions of dollars for doing nothing more than wearing some particular brand’s shoes while you play basketball.

As far as popularity, I’m probably the wrong person to ask since I never was a fan of Lonzo or any of the Ball family but I highly doubt their popularity increased after all this.

If anything it’s plummeted over where they began when he was drafted #2 by the Lakers. Who is Lonzo even playing for next Fall? I know he’s currently on the Pelicans roster but are we sure he’s even in their long term plans or will play there a lot? (Especially with his broken shot he’s never fixed.) And even if he stays there, New Orleans isn’t exactly a basketball hotbed, beyond the curiosity factor of having Zion.

And don’t even get me started on Lavar. Not only is he a terrible businessman, he’s a certifiable jerk who’s currently banned from ESPN. Don’t see that his popularity or marketability has increased at all.

His second son lost what was the most valuable thing he had, which was a full ride scholarship to UCLA (because he has no future playing professional basketball at a high level.)

His third son I guess we’ll see. The few times I’ve seen him when he was younger he was a ball-hog who never seemed interested or was taught to play within a team concept. Maybe that’s changed as he’s grown older but I wouldn’t bet on it.

No one is arguing he could have made more signing with Nike originally. They are a multi billion dollar company. It really doesn't take a rocket scientist to figure out a company worth more can pay more. They wanted to take a risk and try to create their own brand. For a period of time it was successful. They just weren't able to generate that into a long-term viable business. Most did not expect them to. However, they still generated a few hundred grand in the process. I can't think of really any logical person who would say making 6 figures is bad, even if there was more on the table.

You are confusing popularity with success. Lonzo is still very popular and continues to gain notoriety the more he stays in the news. Even if it is news generated by his father. Pelicans seem very invested in him and the young core they plan to build around. Small marker teams can do well when they put good teams together. GSW was pretty ****** market for a few decades until they got Steph and crew. In fact, most of your small market teams have been better in the last few years than the larger markets. How have the Knicks, Lakers, Bulls, Nets, Celtics, Pistons and so forth been doing the last few years? But on the flipside, GSW, Milwaukee, Cleveland (except for this year), Portland have been far more successful.

Everyone knows who Lavar is. Everyone has an opinion about him, and as evident by this board, people with no connection to the Balls or Lavar talk about his constantly. That makes him pretty popular in my back. No on said it had to be positive popularity.

The second kid was never that good, but just getting a college degree isn't that valuable in today's world. I know countless people with degrees working in food service, retail and so forth because the market is saturated with degree holders. If you have a multi-millionaire older brother, and a likely soon to be multi-millionaire younger brother, the smart money would be to work for them if you can't make it on your own.

Third kid is still a ball hog, but to be fair, most kids at his age and talent level are. He is a good shot creator and can score at a high clip at all 3 levels. If someone can put him on a good team with other players he can build trust with, I think he could be a very good player. He's got a similar game to Trae Young.

https://www.google.com/amp/s/amp.tmz.com/2019/03/25/lonzo-ball-manager-trash-big-baller-brand-shoes/

Lonzo, 51% owner of BBB, throwing away his gear and calling for a boycott after year 1 of the business. Im sure the profits were outstanding [roll][roll][roll][roll]

"Important to point out that Lonzo isn't calling for people to trash his shoes -- he's still a majority owner in the company -- but it's not a good sign that his manager is calling for a worldwide BBB dump.

There are also reports the Ball family is considering folding the BBB brand altogether.

As for Lonzo, he's hinted on social media that he could sign with Nike."

Can you point to us to where in the article Lonzo is calling for a boycott or request people throw away his gear?

Ok his manager made the post, on his behalf
No, he wasn't speaking on Lonzo's behalf. Particularly considering Lonzo has made several comments on BBB since.

Good Lord, did Lavar and the rest of the Ball Family touch you inappropriately as a child or something?

You just wrote they list it all...

You wrote overhead was low, but you write Lonzo was paid 1500 per diem. So, over 500k for fledgling company.

But it’s ok cause lawyer did paperwork for free

Like I said, you do not comprehend the words you you are writing. You’ve taken a stance and throwing out everything you can to prove your right. You cryptically try show you are connected to the Balls. If so just say it.
If not your making stuff up.

But, your a fan of theirs. As we know you can’t debate with fanatics. Two days is enough...take care

Lol, I said Lonzo was paid an annual per diem of $1,500. That means per year he was paid $1,500 by BBB. What about that is confusing to you? Where the hell are you getting $500,000?

Where did I say I was connected to the Ball's? Ever heard of this thing called the internet and research?

Fan of them? :joy: I am just don't fell the need to lie to myself to feel better about people I don't like or feel indifferent to.

Bluecatnation and Blake disagree. They just joined and are liking brew like crazy.
He must be right.
Um, that dudes account was created in May of last year if you know how to read. He has liked a lot of posters over the almost 16 months he has been active here. It appears today was the first time he liked me. :joy: Talk about an epic fail!

Neither of these accounts were created even close to recently and I am just 1 of their countless other likes. I must be pretty psychic to create those accounts so long ago just to come like some of my posts in this thread. :joy:

Using your and Mougy's logic, you and I must the be the same person too, because we both have Blue in our usernames and we both capatilize the B.

Your girls sleuthing skills are incredible I tell ya.....

When your missing chromosome finally catches up to you, you're going to be really disappointed in hearing that your Make-A-Wish dream of meeting Lavar was denied because he wanted to be paid for it.
Yea, making fun of people born with a mental handicap will make you feel better about the fact the Ball family made a few hundred G's selling shoes.....

Despite all your challenges, you persevere. You are an inspiration to this whole board.
I'm not half the inspiration people with real disabilities are. I know you are trying to be cute on a message board for likes and because you aren't intellectually capable of accepting a differing view of opinion or countering it with a valid argument of your own, but ridiculing people that exist in the real world with real disabilities by making light of them and using them as a feeble attempt to attack someone on an anonymous board should be beneath you. I guess that just shows your lack of character as a person and your lack of life experiences dealing with people burdened by those disabilities. If you can't be a better person for yourself and family, at least don't come here and embarrass the BBN by displaying a hateful ignorance and intolerance towards the disabled. It's beneath this great fanbase, and should be beneath yourself.

When Ball announced his Big Baller Brand that was going to compete with Nike, he was banking on his 3 sons becoming dominant players and household names. Now I read where they are having a clearance sale in a gymnasium. LOL. So much for Big Baller Brand shoes, although they may have resale value 30 years from now, if they are unused. Any investors out there?
I wouldn't trade my Starburys for them....and the Starburys suck. Stephan Marbury > 3 Balls.

He had one more shot with Lemelo now that he has been unbelievably good over in Australia and now in the running for the top pick according to the 27 NBA scouts who are over there watching his games (averaging 19ppg 6reb 7ast and playing good defense). Unfortunately Melo is smart and is currently in the process of doing a shoe deal with Nike, Puma or Adidas
