This reminds me of a guy I have as a friend on Facebook. I’m not sure how we became friends but he knows the Bible inside and out. Everyday he sends a positive message through messenger. I look forward to reading them, they always seem to relate to what I’m feeling, as well as a positive way to look at it

I feel you OP . The last 2 months of my life have been pretty crappy . But just have faith in yourself and keep doing the right thing and the ship will be righted . That's what I tell myself at least.

I know this will be moved or deleted - but damn things are just not going well for me right now. Work, family, friends - everything in a serious funk. I’m tired, I’m working too hard and not getting any return. This is the only place I have to vent. Just getting some out. That’s all. I have to make some life changes quick.

Carry on brothers. Carry on.
Bro I don’t have pm on here but email me if you want to I been through some really ratty stuff this year too we can compare/vent [email protected]

I suggest doing stuff for others not looking for a reward for yourself. You will be surprised at how giving time/money/effort to other people will make your life better. The trick is not to look for any reward, let God reward you on his own time. When that starts happening the turn around will happen. Anytime you start just looking out for just yourself then you are a dangerous road to loneliness/depression.

BWO, I've been there. 7 years ago, to be exact. It had to hit rock-bottom, before it got better. Demotion at work, bankruptcy, divorce. Lost everything, basically. Only thing that didn't hit me we was a death in the family. Thank God. My parents really helped me keep what sanity I still have. They were the only people in my life who didn't turn on me. It's not the easiest thing to do, but sometimes you need a fresh start. Let it all go, and reinvent yourself. Worked for me. New job, money in the bank, no wife. Life is good! As Trent Reznor said, the way out is through. Plow through it.

This OP resonates with me so well. I have tried so hard to find happiness but yet to find it. My parents don’t understand and I’m not sure anyone can. I put a facade up every day but inside I feel like what’s the point of going on anymore. I pray for you OP as I hope you pray for me because that’s all I have left.

Hang in there, brother. Just a thought, but maybe in your spare time once a week, try volunteering for your local hospital/soup kitchen. Give back to those who are less truly fortunate. Usually when you help others and can put a smile on someone else's face, it gives you some self satisfaction that you are making a difference in someone's life and it keeps life in perspective of how blessed you truly are. Trust me, it could always be much, much worse, but I am pulling for you!!

I feel your pain brother. I am hanging in there and trying everything in the face of some of the roughest years of my life. Like others have said you have to laugh as much off as you can and you need to take care of yourself. I always liked this part of Benjamin Button:

“For what it's worth: it's never too late or, in my case, too early to be whoever you want to be. There's no time limit, stop whenever you want. You can change or stay the same, there are no rules to this thing. We can make the best or the worst of it. I hope you make the best of it. And I hope you see things that startle you. I hope you feel things you never felt before. I hope you meet people with a different point of view. I hope you live a life you're proud of. If you find that you're not, I hope you have the strength to start all over again.”

Great story.

I come from a family of very successful businessman / politicians, hell even the ones who didn’t care about that still landed jobs that paid 60K a year with great benefits. For some reason, God wasn’t allowing it with me. I suffered for years, became addicted to drugs, suicide attempt, and just about everyone gave up on me including my parents.

All of a sudden I started feeling a tug in a certain direction. I went with it. Alone.

Once I rejected the chase of money my life started coming together. My family still doesn’t accept it. But money came, somehow. God wants everyone to work his plan. He will provide. I accepted that. It took a long time.

I have a wild story that I now tell to audiences and kids. I rejected my gut instinct for years. Once I started to follow it, hearing God started to become more clear to the point that now it’s almost a loud voice in my head saying “go right not left”. It’s hard to explain.

Keep going when there’s no fuel left to burn. That’s how you come out the other side.

Life can be overwhelming and honestly most of us cannot handle it alone. As some of you know my wife died June 4 and it may be a cliche but she was and is the Love of My Life. While she was going through cancer my focus and energy was easy because it was all towards her. But then... she was gone and the world stopped. It impossible for me to describe the depth and darkness of the grief but if it wasn’t for my determination to honor her memory and the Lord never leaving my side Icould have easily put a bullet in my head. But that won’t happen because of those two thing. I’ve been working my *** of making a memorial garden for her and turning our farm into a day camp for bereaved kids as was her dream. The grief is still there but the Lord gives me plenty of strength to overcome it when it arises.

I share this with you BWO and others suffering through life so you know that you’re never alone in the dark times.
Best wishes my friend.
Fossil, please accept my most sincere condolences on the loss of your wife. I assume she was the beautiful lady in your avatar. I missed the news.

My daughter made her way to heaven on July 5. I miss her.

Man I really hope you and your family are hanging in there. I pray for you every night. The story you told about the butterfly had tears in my eyes. I am so dry about your daughter and pray everyday gets better for you even though I know you will be dealing with it the rest of your life. Hang in there man. There are tons of people praying for you.

Keep working at it. Don’t be afraid to think in ways you haven’t before.

Example: do you have a college degree?

If not, apply for jobs that require a degree. You have nothing to lose.

If you don’t have a degree, community college is free. Start taking two classes a semester and work at the college. Allow it to come together later. Give yourself a light somewhere in the tunnel. It will grow.

Yes that my Judy on our Wedding day and I hate to hear that you lost your child. Knowing they are both in heaven eases the pain. My prayers and thoughts go out to you and your family. PM me if you ever need to talk brother.

Well gentlemen, I just pulled up rafters and see that not only did my thread not get deleted, but the responses are overwhelming to me, and some very good advice as words of encouragement. For that I thank you all.

I have always been a positive person, see the good and not the bad. Help others; be kind and offer help when I can. I often and most always think of others before myself. Seems that sometimes you have to put yourself in the picture, make decisions that are best for you. I have a beautiful wife of 22 years, two beautiful kids, a house, a job. I know it could be worse, as I’ve read here.

For all of you who shared your stores, I say thank you sincerely. For those that offered advice and encouragement, thanks deeply. For those that have their own hardships and struggles, I keep you in my thoughts. I will get through this; it just hit me very hard this morning and into today. Thanks for being a pretty descent group of people. All of you. I really appreciate that.

I am so glad we have this place. It’s been a blessing to me in the past few months.

BWO, I understand. After my Mom passed away it has been like one loss and disaster after another. Trouble at work, personal minor losses (that are of course amplified after such things), etc. It’s been tough. I’ve had really good days and then really crappy ones.

We’ve had days on here that have been really good (Cal being excited, team looking good), crappy days (missing on recruits), and really bad days (Jared passing away, 93 losing his daughter).

And we’ve come through it to a degree because we’ve had each other to talk to.

I’ve always been a loner by nature (mainly because I tend to be cynical and see through a lot of BS and don’t have time for it). So I am greatly for this place where we can vent and talk.

Prayer helps for problems that feel massive for me. But I like to have tactical and practical things at hand too.

Two quotes have helped me recently:

“It is possible to commit no mistakes and still lose. That is not weakness, that is life.”
- Capt. Jean-Luc Picard

Now of course Capt Picard was talking to Data, an android. So we humans will of course make mistakes. But I like to look at this one as, sometimes no matter what you do you will still lose. Kind of nihilistic, but itvgive me solace in the fact of that it’s just life. It’s not a reflection on who you are or your character. Sometimes you just lose. And that’s the way it is. Used to drive me nuts. And still does to a degree. I was born with a super innate sense of justice. I want life to be fair. It’s why I get so pissed off when we get cheated or the cheaters prosper. But it’s not always a reflection on us when failure happens. We have to take the hit, not hit ourselves and keep going.

The other one:

“You may encounter many defeats, but you must not be defeated. In fact, it may be necessary to encounter the defeats, so you can know who you are, what you can rise from, how you can still come out of it.”
- Maya Angelou

It’s ok to lose. It doesn’t feel good of course and it’s not something we seek. But dang it, it’s not always a reflection of who you are. But it can be a reflection of who you will be.
It’s ok to take a day and say “Screw it; I’m done”. That’s called a break. It’s not ok to say “Screw it; I’m done.” and stay there. That’s called failure.

And at the end of a lot of things I have to ask myself “Do you want to ‘die’ on your knees or on your feet?”

Also, just because bad things happen to you doesn’t mean you are a bad person. I know that sounds obliviously stupid, but it’s taken me some time to get past it. The trick is you can’t let it make you a bad person.

Hang in there BWO and just keep going. God only knows I know it’s hard. I’m having a tough day today; so I’m kinda of taking it slow. But I’m not quitting. Ever.

I share your pain my friend. I've been waiting patiently 8 years for a new job back in my professional field and last week I was offered one in Poplar Bluff MO. Double my current crappy state salary, take home vehicle, cell phone etc. I went back for a second interview and they asked me what number it would take to get me there. I was on Cloud 9, never been treated that way in my life. I toured the town, they showed me areas to live, discussed benefits, the whole deal. At the end (close to 9 pm) the board chair told me to think on it to which I replied "I want the job, no doubt." He said they would "meet tomorrow night and get it approved." Next night he calls and tells me they went with another candidate. I thought this was a done deal.

Talk about being down, man I was walking on air only to have the rug yanked out from under me. It hurt (and still hurts). I guess the thing is we can't do anything about life in general other than bit the bullet and move on. I hope things pick up for you. This adulting thing sucks balls.

So sorry Macy, that is cruel.
