What about a college kid that goes to the NBA the following year but still under 21 getting paid millions. Are they still "off limits"?

Love the 'support our boys' argument which equates to don't say anything negative. Especially now that these players are getting paid, criticism comes with the territory. Now do some fans go overboard, absolutely but like some have said, ALL fanbases in all sports will have those fanatics.

You do realize that was not a real game, right?

Getting in any way upset about someone’s performance in mere exhibition scrimmage …much less upset enough to go harass him on his social media accounts …is utter insanity.

I get that these guys are now highly paid mercenaries and all that, but this nonsense does nothing but make UK fans look pitiful.
Wrong, it shows that UK fans expect what they pay for

Don't justify this weird, aggressive behavior that's borderline obsessive.

Him getting paid, which is legal per SCOTUS, doesn't give anyone the right to harass him online, if that's what happened. Employees like you or I also aren't harassed either. No one comes into your workplace or outside of it and harasses you and if they did, you wouldn't be okay with it. No one here is saying you shouldn't criticize a player but do it here, call into a show, or post it on your own social media account. There's no positives in tagging the player or messaging him directly to make sure he sees it as if he needs to hear from you. Most here agree with that but a few are showing their true selves by acting as if it's no big deal or it's somehow okay. Players getting paid, which again is perfectly legal, has broken the brains of some of our posters into thinking anything goes.

It's truly not a difficult thing to be a decent person and someone running their mouth directly at a college player online isn't normal behavior. People try to normalize it but it's not normal.
If anyone went to his personal space and criticized him, that is wrong.
But criticizing on something like this forum is ok

No doubt. His way of handling the scrutiny is by growing a beard and trying to learn a tough guy pose. This delusional fanbase needs an alpha and a leader, someone that knows how to run the ship with comprehension.

I don't know if Jai Lucas is that. He has all the presence of Irkel. I can see him imploding. Not an SEC coach.

You know who I think the guy is. I would get this guy wrapped up before any other big seats open up.

Didn't know much about this guy, but after reading a little, seems like a good replacement

He's a culture guy. The people at USF loved him. Will come with a distinct system and know exactly the kind of players he needs.

Fair weathered immature fans who are insecure (have to find their identity in UK basketball because they don’t like themselves or have never achieved anything) and emotionally unstable will think themselves privileged and try to tear down others. We see it here. So, we should expect a percentage of the fools to also attack the players and coaches directly. Bad look for UK. Wish we could blame it on the opposing fan bases’ idiots, but I doubt it all that.

Idiots will argue it’s because they care too much. Idiots.

Agreed, they shouldn’t do anything like that but these players wanted to be paid. They are paid handsomely and now they are treated like pros. They can’t hide behind kids in school anymore either. Nobody should message them personally though. Just talking about it online is fair game.
Dumb@sses treat pros that way.

Only person to blame is that loser of a coach in mark pope! He’s the only problem
If you want to see the emotional immaturity that does this sort of thing, look above. It’s not a far stretch from the coward who gets his jollies repeating the same crap here to the people who take it right to the team. They’re not fans of anyone but themselves. Life sucks for them, but that is no excuse.

the majority of fans who message players are kids in their teens or 20's who we still call kids since people are acting like Diallo is a kid for some reason. How can we know this? Because the vast majority of people on social media are teens and people in their 20's , especially Insta where it seems it was bad enough for diallo to delete that account.

Im not going to feel bad about our fan base for the actions of kids being idiots on social media. I mean dont message negative things to players but there's no way we can enforce that request so I'm not going to let it make me feel like our fan base as a whole is bad for what a few people do online
