I know it sounds as crazy as it did when I started posting it years ago, but he's playing the wrong sport. He should be playing football.

He doesn't even get fat really, he's just a gigantic human that's incredibly explosive. He basically plays football on the hardwood anyway

I said it and said it, Zion isn’t going to be the force so many believed. I argued someone on here for over a year about it and I can’t remember who it was. When I know I’m going scorched earth.

I, too, thought he was going to have a short career, with bad knee problems and being overweight.

But he DID post a 27/7/4 year last year.. while still shooting 30% from the 3 and posting 62% on other FGs. He was a MIP candidate, and he likely didn't win because he was just a sophomore, who already posted 22 and 6 as a rookie.

His size and play style could lead to a shorter than hoped for career, but for sure a lot of people here just have biased takes because he's a Dukie, they more want him to fail than honestly think he'll fail. All star in his second season, 27ppg with high efficiency. Needs to improve his defense and he could up his rebounding, but unless he's derailed by injury he looks to be a rising superstar.

If he can’t stay healthy playing basketball he ain’t staying healthy playing football.

Pelicans are a dumpster fire. These ‘leaks’ by management bashing their franchise player just show what a **** show they are. I’m glad AD got the hell out of there.

I thought he was playing pretty well last year. He appeared to have trimmed down.

Gotta love the "pyscho parent" part. How is this always a thing when it comes to parenting and recruiting?

27/7/4 at 33 mpg and 61 games played. PER was an eye popping 27.

looks like he’s angling for a messy exit to a playoff team. AD did the same thing he just waited 7 years to get his way.

Glad I searched the page first, was just about to post this. Figured everyone would get a kick out of it.
I've noticed some debating, whether it matters where top players go to school. So there's 2 ways to look at this.
1) UK makes their players work hard, together and translates well to the NBA. The comments I always see, General Managers, coaches, etc. are amazed at the preparedness of our former players. Puke on the other hand, very few success stories and even a "generational" talent is screwing up.
2) The players who want the easy route choose Puke. In that case, we aren't preparing them. We just happen to be blunt about expectations and we get the players who want the challenge.

I guess it could be a little of both. Personally, I believe it's a whole lot of number 1 and a sprinkle of number two. I think we prepare like no other but I also think Cal is blunt. I do wholeheartedly believe that Cal could've helped these guys way more. I think Cal would've helped hone skills and helped develop the mental fortitude needed for the league. Unfortunately, these guys fall for immediate Nike money, temptation of an easy college experience and they end up being bust. I don't really think Cal preparing people is even debatable and there's no excuse for Zion freaking Williamson to already have this kind of press.

Not necessarily. The problem ain’t impact with other players, instead it’s the hardcourt impact from the constant running and jumping while carrying all that weight.

A 285 pound man puts enormous stress on his knees, feet, joints and ligaments playing full speed basketball games night after night (especially one who jumps as incredibly high and runs as fast as Zion) …far more so than in football.

lol, he is only three years in and has maybe played one full slate of a season's worth of games... he could still have a short career...
His running style, that they tried to fix... has not changed. He will have knee and hip problems. Book it, I guarantee it

A lot of interesting takes. I thought the thing that stood out in the article the most was 'psycho parents'....
Except that its source for that was “anonymous post on Reddit”, which is really no source at all.

That’s no more credible than if it were quoting one of our posts here. It’s a silly article.

That’s what makes him eat?

He's extremely thick in the lower body. You can tell he isn't allowed to lift, because that would add even more weight albeit via muscle.

If he was allowed to embrace his freakish size and then that mass into muscle, combined with his explosion he'd be unstoppable on the football field

True, and I never said the article was fact. I just saw it and found it interesting because a lot of people on here have had the same outlook as the article.

Yea I mean he’s not crap. He’s a damn good player. But the hype isn’t worth what it generates and I too think in 10’years he’ll just be the next YouTube video titled “Top 10 reasons Zion didn’t become great”.

This is true, it’s not a reliable source.

But that doesn’t mean it’s not true. And it does seem to follow a trend of people discussing his bad workout habits.

He would be a great TE imo. Or even a defensive lineman with his explosiveness.

That said I think he will be a great NBA player barring injuries. Hes been damn good when healthy. He will probably be the biggest NBA player after LeBron is gone

He would be a freakish TE.
But honestly can’t blame him for playing basketball instead. More $, fewer injuries, longer average career meaning even more $.

But I predicted before he was drafted that while he would be very good, he would go the opposite direction as Barkley, and eat himself out of the league. He is just too large and explosive for those joints (knees and ankles).

What position do you put a guy like him at? Defensive end?

I think so or an Aaron Donald type DT. Dude could probably get to 320 with zero issue. He has an explosion that is ultra elite and enjoys contact.
Yeah D line somewhere for sure, I think keeping him down around 290-300 and putting him as an edge rusher could be devastating, though bulked up to 320 he'd also be a load as a tackle in a 4:3 set.

So many mixed feelings about Zion. Take away his Duke affiliation and he’s easily my favorite non-UK NBA player. He’s Barkley 2.0 when he’s healthy. Love watching him play.
