The same people wanted to run Stoops off after a few years. The ones complaining are short time fans who only been fans since Cal has been here. Cal lost his entire team and needs to bring the whole team together. I know it is hard to understand for those that have never played organized basketball but that actually takes time. This team will be playing a lot better basketball here shortly. It's not about a lack of talent, it just players learning to understand their roles. Cal can't make Boston begin to make his shots. He can't make Fletcher play good defense. All of these players are learning a different system. It just takes time.

been a fan since the 80’s. Everyone I know that are fans are older than me, graduated UK, and want Cal gone yesterday.

You’ve got this backwards. It’s the fans who’ve only been fans since Cal came on board that want him to stay.

Glad to know I’m not a Uk fan. Cal took over the program in pretty pathetic shape and won a championship in 3 years, so I would except the next coach to be able to do the same regardless of what shape the program is in
There's no rule on when a coach wins a title. WTF kind of ******** are you trying to pull?

Tubby Smith won a title in year one, so according to your rules, Cal failed. You said it didn't matter what shape the program is in, so you can't come back now and say Pitino left him a title contender.

Go back to your Texas Tech board.

Yeah that’s cool and all but have you ever played organized basketball?

I did. And that’s why I know these things take time. That’s why I understand if we just accept losing to Tennessee, Unc, Duke by 40, Kansas, Auburn, that purple team, notre dame, and run from Western, we will eventually get to that second round loss somewhere down the line and it’ll all be worth it.

No, not UK fans, just Calipari fans, and there's really only about 3 of you left.

I do enjoy the way you three all pretend you have more support than you do though, lol. The cognitive dissonance is so thick you cant even see that your group is so small I wouldnt even call it a minority.
You Memphis people have such a grasp of the UK fanbase. It's scary man!

So sorry Cal left your school bra. lmao

You all want results like cals first five years so any new coach should come in and win immediately. Especially since cal is such a ****** coach any coach should be able to come in and either copy or get better results. Its like I said the other day though I think cal has done enough here to get a shot at righting the ship. If there’s a lot of roster turnover after this season then I’ll agree it’s probably time to look at options.

We aren't talking about where the program was 5-7 years ago. We are talking about today. If Cal was coaching and recruiting like he was then, then this wouldn't be a discussion. But, here we are.

Even Better!!!!! Serious question here how does Mitch give Cal a 60 M buyout when the next largest is 21M for Rick Barnes. ITS TRIPLE THE ****ING BUYOUT. Doesn't really surprise me considering Stoops buyout was insanely high when we were winning like 3-4 games a year.
Mitch needs to head out the door too who let's him hand these contracts out to these coaches? Neither Stoops nor Cal deserve no where close to the $ they're being paid!

It comes with the territory of being the greatest program of all time in the sport. Better expect more sore losers in the near future.

Nope, he won't be fired, even if this year is a 15-loss debacle. Almost no school will fire a hall of fame coach after one horrible season. He was 25-6 at the end of last year, and has really only had one "horrible" year with that NIT squad.

He needs to change, but we all know he won't. If (when) Cal leaves, it will be more likely due to fans not joining him in his NBA draft success hype. Not because of heat because of a couple "horrible" years. As long as he gets UK to the E8 or above once in a while, it will be literally impossible for any AD to fire him. We might not like that kind of performance and demand FFs and NCAA titles, but as long as he wins 30+ games a year most of the time, and gets to S16 or E8, he's going nowhere until he decides to leave.
At this rate this will be his 2nd NIT bid since his time here what other coach has done that at UK all while making 10 million a year?

The season is far from over. This is a weird season overall. UK is bigger than any coach, player, or admin when it comes to basketball. Literally the greatest program of all time. That buyout is utterly ridiculous but in the SEC we have plenty of money and that payday is about to get a lot bigger.

I have been frustrated watching UK this season as well as a third party who pulls for every SEC program OOC. These young men just need something to play for that's not NBA related. Cal is Cal. He has been Cal for a very long time. This is the first place he has been that he hasn't built the program.

He built UMASS, and even though Memphis had a decent amount of success prior to Cal he rebuilt that program. In the NBA he had to try to bring the Nets up. At UK he took the recruiting class he recruited at Memphis. Brought it to UK and won immediately. It has been very easy for him and I firmly believe he took it for granted. When you don't have to work hard to get what you need/want, people get complacent. It's very common. I can honestly point to two things.

1. He figured winning would just happen. At UK he could consistently land top 1-3 classes without having to really try. He liked his system. It led to a ridiculous amount of success for a very long time. (Memphis/UK combined).

2. To finish off his legacy he figured he'd win 3-4 titles at UK, whilst putting an insane amount of players in the NBA and chose that approach and to make himself look even better he wanted to do the whole "Put the players and their families first approach".

I honestly think you guys will turn it around especially in SEC play. Once UK is in the SEC Tourney/NCAA's all bet are off. It's like magically everyone gets on the same page and the team gels. That doesn't translate to winning the title or making the final four every season. No one does that and the days of UCLA cheating and having All-Americans waiting patiently for their turn while riding the bench are over.

I know your expectations are high and they should be, but going into every season thinking your hanging a new banner for a title will always lead to disappointment and there isn't a player or coach alive who will ever meet those expectations. It may be time that both Cal and UK parted ways for something new, or it may work out in the end.

Best of luck.
