With Bolden going to Duke and Lee not certain if he's coming back.Do you think Wynard could get a shot to play at the 4 or 5.
If you mean Wynyard, then Yes.
He's 6' 10" 260lbs per Cal. He'll have the opportunity to succeed.

Can you link that? Because I only remember Cal saying he offered to play Wynyard but he declined and redshirted.Redshirt last year and Cal said he is a long way from contributing. When he gets minutes chances are high it will be from blow outs or injuries/lot of foul trouble. He is last on the depth chart right above the best walk on

Cal says everything for a reason. He is trying to take expectations down a notch for Tai, but he will contribute this year.Forget about wynyard for a while. Quit asking about him and pinning hopes on him. He's not impressing cal.
In our system, Wynyard and Humphries are 5s. Adebayo should be a hybrid 4/5. Wynyard is a legitimate 6-10, 260. Wynyard is a better low post player than people think, and several sources have said his game improved last winter. Every player has strengths and weaknesses. Wynyard is a physical player who should be a real rebounding force. He is a capable low post scorer, but at this point his useful shooting range is inside 12-15 feet. He isn't a bad free throw shooter. His defensive skills will be a work in progress. But because of his experience in international play, he is farther along defensively than Humphries was when he arrived on campus last summer. Wynyard is going to play. With Bolden going to Duke and Lee not certain if he's coming back.Do you think Wynard could get a shot to play at the 4 or 5.
I believe Cal did say that Tai preferred to redshirt last season. Can you link that? Because I only remember Cal saying he offered to play Wynyard but he declined and redshirted.

LOL! How would you know what Calipari thinks about his players? Calipari says things to motivate players, but there is no reason to believe he would broadcast his real thoughts about a player. Why would he? If you want a good example, go back and look at the things Calipari said about Derek Willis early last season. It was pretty bad. Willis sounded like a lost cause. Shortly thereafter, Willis became a key starter. Before Wynyard signed, Calipari observed him in international play. That's a much better barometer of a player's potential than watching a few AAU games where most points are scored in transition and nobody tries to play defense. If Calipari was not impressed with Wynyard's basketball skills, Wynyard would not be at Kentucky now. On our next team, we have 2 centers, Humphries, Wynyard, and a hybrid 4/5 player, Adebayo. Maybe Lee comes back, but that isn't the current scuttlebutt. Wynyard is going to play. Wynyard's defensive skills will be a work in progress, but he showed excellent strength and rebounding skills a year ago in the NHS. Since then, he has been tutored by Kenny Payne for half a season. Nobody has to guess how many points and rebounds Wynyard will average, but chances are good that Wynyard will have a role in Calipari's playing rotation.Forget about wynyard for a while. Quit asking about him and pinning hopes on him. He's not impressing cal.
Cal could have been trolling everyone with the "long ways from contributing" comment. I mean the season is months away so he's technically not going to contribute for a while. Watch him be amazing game 1.Redshirt last year and Cal said he is a long way from contributing. When he gets minutes chances are high it will be from blow outs or injuries/lot of foul trouble. Yeah, Cal asked him if he wanted to play v. UGA and he declined. Can you link that? Because I only remember Cal saying he offered to play Wynyard but he declined and redshirted.
Relax man

I was quoting the previous poster, but I am pretty sure Cal did say something along those lines. Could be wrong, but I think it was something like "a ways to go"When and where did Cal say this?

Based on?I can't wait for him to prove everyone here wrong.
He has a ways to go with conditioning, not contributing. Humphries has a ways to go with conditioning also. But he's going to contribute. Wynyard has the ability to contribute just like humph, both of them are a long ways as far as being in shape goes. But as far as ability goes. They're both ready to contribute. He never said Wynyard was a long ways from contributing that's just not true. Cal tried to get him minutes last season but Wynyard said he wanted to keep the redshirt onI was quoting the previous poster, but I am pretty sure Cal did say something along those lines. I've been looking, can't find it atm, but will post it if I do. I'm not taking his word for it, I'm almost certain I read the same thing or something along those lines anyways. Pretty sure it was after the season as well.I couldn't find him saying that. If you can, would you please post a link.
I see no reason to take the word of a rival fan.
He's wrong cal never said he was a long ways from contributing. Just a troll trying to troll.I couldn't find him saying that. If you can, would you please post a link.

I hope he isn't just a marginal mop up duty bench player next season. I hope, and think he will, get the chance to play around 10 minutes a game next season. If he gets that then that means he'll be contributing. And then the following season he'll be ready to have a breakout sophomore season after all of our players leave for the draft, could be a starter in the 17-18 season. Him at the 4 and Humphries at the 5 would be a very physical very good rebounding combo in the future. Unlimited amount of skill between the 2 also. And by then after all that time working with Kenny payne they should be in damn good shape. They'll look like complete different, transformed people by 17-18. Can't wait! All we need from him next year is 5 fouls, 2 points and 2-3 boards....anything beyond that will be gravy
I think you might be literally retarded if you think I'm a troll. And I just found the link and trying to copy on my phone so you will shut the hell upHe's wrong cal never said he was a long ways from contributing. Just a troll trying to troll.
Nah man, you're wrong.Nah man you're wrong cal never said that.
Nah man, you're wrong.
Here you go @Aike
On Tai Wynyard's progress last semester and how much further he has to go: “He got better, but he's got a ways to go. Tai's on a different path. Isaac was on a different path. Charles was on a different path. So was Derek and Dom. They're all on different paths. Eventually Tai's gonna be a good player here, but it'll take him time. He's not on the same path as some of these guys, but he's physically tough and strong.”

Yeah I agree there could be a difference but in my second post I did say that I thought it was actually "a ways to go". I'm still waiting on @andreIGUODOLLAsigns4UK to chime in since he called me a troll and said there was nothing said like that and it was only about conditioning.Thanks. Not shocked that he said something like this, but the phrasing is important.
"Ways to go" and "Long way from contributing" don't have the same meaning, in my book.
For instance, I think it would be fair to say that Matthews had a ways to go last year. He was still a contributor.
I would think someone with a ways to go could still potentially contribute in spots.
Truth is, none of us know yet.
