Yeah but there’s a caveat. Cardona built his brand in WWE and largely got that indie following by shock value, being the anti-Ryder. Very few people will make WWE money outside of WWE. That’s why alternatives like AEW, MLW, NWA, GCW, TNA etc are good for the industry. You don’t even have to like those brands — simply not actively rooting for their demise is a positive IMO. I don’t like GCW, but I’m not out here running the anti-GCW flag either. I want as much wrestling as possible out there for people to enjoy and for more wrestlers to get paid.
The whole wcw thing is complicated I mean tna has been around 25 years so without aol/time warner canning it it’s possible wcw could have survived but while the nwo was great it had a shelf life and giving those guys creative control squashed anyone from getting over and etc etc but it is what it is
He prob also made money off merch in indies too?
Oh for sure. Wouldn’t you agree he was getting a lot of buzz for the idea that “Zack Ryder is cussing and having deathmatches now!!?? WTF?” That was where his buzz was coming from. It wasn’t like he was some indie darling who got himself over organically. And btw that’s a credit to WWE. They build massive and enduring brands.
I don’t remember any injuries in njpw but ever since he’s been in AEW it’s been consistently injuries after 3 matches back at most
Jordynne Grace did too. She was rolling in money from OnlyFans. It’s only going to get easier to make more money outside of WWE than as part of WWE with them slashing salaries.
I imagine it’s going to eventually get to the point where NBA teams were in the big two and big three era - only the top dogs make big bucks and everyone else is making a tiny fraction of those top dogs. And they will be considered expendable if they ask for more money because there’s always going to be some Fed mark willing to work for that minimum contract instead.

Man, during football season I just don't have the wavelength to watch hardly any wrestling.
I watch Dynamite, and fastforward through most of Collision in about a half hour, and that is it. I haven't seen a minute of WWE programming since the season started. Just isn't enough time when I lose all weekend to football right now.

I wouldn't say scared. They are just trying to hold off as long as possible to screw with AEW since AEW running Mania weekend is sort of worst kept secret territory. One big reason why they are also running NXT/AAA in New York that weekend, where it was speculated AEW would run since it's arguably their best performing PPV market, while doing a bunch of watch parties in major cities.
AEW Dynamite Grand Slam Paris is tonight because of MLB Playoffs on TBS tomorrow. Collision for Saturday is also being taped, I assume Jericho vs. Nick Wayne will be there since it was announced for Paris.

Good progress on start times. I’ve always liked the early afternoon start times AEW has had for England PPVs and the Texas All In. Of course I realize the England early afternoon start times were a result of time zone differences. Around 4 is probably the ideal start time for the US though since that would be 1 pm on the west coast.
I almost pulled the trigger on a couple but I just begrudgingly dropped over $40 for a PAC tribute shirt and I get 8 tshirts a year as part of the All Elite Crate subscription box so I don’t really have all that much desire to pay for AEW T-shirts otherwise. These deals are just ridiculously good value compared to what you’d have to pay on the AEW store for the same shirt. But I also think there are some Amazon exclusive shirts, or at least there used to be.
Having a PPV/PLE in the deep south during hurricane season is always a dumb decision. South in general is a bit risky, but the northern parts of the south aren’t quite as bad. But hurricanes are unpredictable. Even up here in VA even once a hurricane weakens to a tropical storm it isn’t exactly unexpected to see it produce weather that you really shouldn’t be leaving the house in.
Just as dumb as AEW having Worlds End in the middle of winter in Midwest is a dumb decision.
Or having a PPV in an outdoor stadium without a retractable roof outside of mid fall or mid spring. Winter is too cold. Summer is to hot. Early spring can produce either winter or summer weather. Late spring is basically summer. Early fall is basically summer. Late fall is basically winter.
Really rolling the dice on extreme weather by going to locations during their peak extreme weather season. Like use some damn common sense.
Joe is awesome.
I'm sort of surprised they had Jungle Boy lose after giving him all those interviews over the last couple of months that he was back to win the title and all this and that. Usually those interviews portend things, but of course he shouldn't have beaten Joe.
