Being a fighting champion is one thing. It's having constant title matches against mid and lower card guys who are undeserving that's the issue. Sammy Guevara, a guy stuck in ROH for most of his AEW career, got a world title match out of nowhere on Collision. Tony's booking, at least with this, sucks. It's okay to admit that lol. Wouldn't the wrestling world be wondering what's going on and calling for Triple H to be fired if Jimmy Uso got a short run with the world title and had title matches against Gargano, Saints, Rey Fenix, Kit Wilson, and Theory?

I get your point but look at who Bret Hart was wrestling on television during his first WWE Title reign.

That was decades ago, on mostly taped shows, with a less than impressive roster as WWF was transitioning from one era to another. The show at the Louisville Gardens might've had 1100 in attendance. Not sure you can compare then to now. Monday Night Raw was practically an early version of Sunday Night Heat and ran an hour per week.

AEW has a huge roster, supposedly the best ever assembled, has four plus hours to work with every week, and has an established world title. Hate to repeat myself but the creative around Darby right now simply sucks. Luckily AEW fans are forgiving when it comes to TK and they know by summer's end they're getting a 40 min. classic of MJF vs Ospreay in London for the title.

Here I can only go by Dragon's passion for AEW but when he's talking about a possible generational run and then we see Darby's opponents, one of them being a dolt pushed into ROH getting a title shot, I gotta comment on it just as he should comment on Jelly Roll and a Gingerbread Man all over SD lol.

No one should ever call this Darby title reign a generational run
This is more like an Alberto Del Rio title run years ago than a “generational” run of any sort.

Calling it a generational run is an insult to guys like Okada or Tanahashi who carried NJPW during his reign.

Maybe he's just one of those guys who's better pursuing the belt than he is once he actually gets the belt. Steamboat was the same way. As was Sting. Not bad company to be in.
I think he's had a fun run and put on some really great matches. The Takeshita match and the one with Ciampa were amazing. I think by the time he loses to MJF, he will have defended like 9 times in a month and a half. It's different, but I didn't hate it.

I see your point but he’s not near in the stratosphere of steamboat or sting those are legit superstars in multiple companies and decades.

Just saw on Facebook that something called NXT Live is coming to the Corbin Arena on Friday June 19th. Probably not my cup of tea, but some of you all might be interested.

Completely agree. Underdog type babyfaces usually are better on the chase than defending the title. That’s one of those expected things in wrestling where you should have a strong build toward reaching that mountain, but once the babyface wins their title reign shouldn’t overstay its welcome. You build a new big bad and restart the chase.

I don’t think Apostle Saul Smith was comparing their careers or legacies. He was simply drawing a parallel between the archetypes and I agree with his point.

I think WWE is giving the dirt sheets a rough go lately they’ve been wrong about Orton Knight and Lesnar.
What is the play with Lesnar? They did a match and his "retirement" so well at Mania. Oba doesn't need to lose right now and would Lesnar come back to lose to him again?

I think Oba wins the feud 2-1 at Summerslam, similar to what happened with Cody which became a big stepping stone on the way to beating Reigns.

They can explain Brock's return as the loss not sitting well with him in retirement. As for the retirement itself, the only one who's said Brock was retiring this year was Cena. Maybe he will at Summerslam but there's your storytelling. We bought the retirement and now aren't sure if Brock will be done in August or not while Oba ultimately wins the summer feud instead of facing someone lesser than.

Hmm man this Darby reign is rough

Speedball and world title should never be used in the same sentence. TNT is his absolute ceiling.

Matches like these water down the world title. As others have said, this is the equivalent Undertaker vs. Al Snow for the world title on Sunday Night Heat.

BREAKING: TKO executives Ari Emanuel and Mark Shapiro have officially purchased ownership stakes in the Las Vegas Raiders

With TKO owning WWE and WrestleMania taking over Las Vegas the past TWO years — WWE’s relationship with Vegas is only going to become even bigger moving forward

Between WWE, UFC, major stadium events and now direct ties to the Raiders organization… Las Vegas is quickly becoming the entertainment capital of the TKO empire.

I've just assumed in a five year period WM will be in Vegas 2, maybe 3 of those years. They're never doing the NE again. Weather is too unpredictable and it looked insane seeing the crowd and Cole bundled up like the little brother from A Christmas Story because it was 42 degrees. London will eventually happen, Indy is coming, and there's talk of Nashville soon. If tickets were actually reasonable, Indy and Nash would be a dream for a Kentuckian but they're not reasonable. FL, TN, IN, NV, TX, CA. Those are probably the only states seeing a Mania from here on out.

I think there’s something to this Danhausen curse…
He cursed the Knicks and they played like crap - he uncursed them and they blew away the sixers.
He cursed the Cavs yesterday and they had a meltdown.
I’m getting papa shango vibes.
