Hey any country that gives us Rush can't be all bad.Murray's goodbye presser. Canada spoiled it early, just like Canada spoils everything.

I'm gonna have to agree with this and most of the posts in the thread. Happy for him but kind of tone deaf for UK to announce a "special announcement" for a player leaving who was a no-brainer. At least announce that it's a "special announcement relating to Jamal Murray" so we are aware of it. Save the top secret stuff for a surprise or least a multi-player announcement.I'm usually upbeat about all decisions made by UK basketball, but this is dumb.. Don't need a "special presser" for every kid.. c'mon.. I'll be taking my talents to...... blah
Canada also gave us Leslie Neilsen.Hey any country that gives us Rush can't be all bad.
We all care. It's the hype machine making us all think there was something new to announce other than the obvious decision of a certain player entering the draft. That's what aggravates myself and many others. I'm glad for the kid and feel good for him.I mean, don't watch. You know what's going on. The kids deserve to announce their decision if they want.
Instead of sitting here refreshing in the middle of the work day and discussing it, let your actions reflect your "who cares" attitude.
True - my frustration is my own fault for allowing myself to think it may have been some exciting, surprising news. Not fair to Jamal.I don't have a problem with these kids having their moment. They entertained us all year.

I did feel the same way. Anticipating something besides a player announcement. I didn't think it would be much though considering Cal is in Houston.True - my frustration is my own fault for allowing myself to think it may have been some exciting, surprising news. Not fair to Jamal.
Cal is in Houston. I know the man is living, breathing, walking, talking badass, but even John Vincent Calipari can't be in two places at once.I really hope this doesn't indicate anything and I have no reason to believe it does, but this is the first one I can remember that Cal was not at. Am I wrong on that?
I see your point. But, is ruining his moment to label the presser a "player announcement" and leave it at that? Does it have to be an absolute total secret surprise? UK and everyone else knows going in how the fanbase is.Yeah but it isn't UK's place to spoil Jamal's moment so that our fans aren't disappointed. It isn't about us. He wanted to announce and say his farewell to fans on his terms and he has that right.
It's not like it hurts anything. Basically no one expected anything of substance anyway.

Yeah, I'm just surprised it wasn't scheduled when they could be together is all.Cal is in Houston. I know the man is living, breathing, walking, talking badass, but even John Vincent Calipari can't be in two places at once.
I certainly thought it would be about a player announcing and not about Rupp Arena renovations.Again, it isn't their responsibility to protect adults from their own misguided expectations and sense of entitlement.
Go read the threads with people speculating. No one thought it was anything important. This is actually more newsworthy because we get to hear Jamal talk about his experience here. That's interesting to me, and better than some new partnership between Rupp and a popcorn company.

Way too much credit.Again, it isn't their responsibility to protect adults from their own misguided expectations and sense of entitlement.

Limbaugh? I thought he was conservative?Hey any country that gives us Rush can't be all bad.
Yeah I probably deserved that. Jamal deserves his moment obviously. Like I said, I let my frustration for getting my hopes up on a player to be returning or maybe some Rupp renovation news cloud my judgment. I think I'm also still bitter we have to wait months til the next game to be honest."Top secret"??? Who said it was top secret? Jamal said he wanted to make the announcement himself. But, you should contact UK and let them know how to handle PR.
I would think a kid announcing he gets to live his dream would fall under the "special" category but I guess since it doesn't benefit you or some of the other fans complaining about it, it's a waste of time or meaningless.
