Me too. Hate it. I need interaction or I go crazy. But I guess that’s why I’ve got all you crazies on this board.

I think I'm going in and coming home. 2 of my 3 people have to get laptops so they can work from home. I work in payroll for a fairly large company of 20000 so they dont want us getting it. As for working from home I'll either drive my wife and 18 month old nuts or they will me lol

I’ve worked remotely for the last 11 years. Just approach it like you would going too work and don’t work in a shared space if you can help it. It’s a transition but much better once you’ve adjusted.

Our company just did it starting today. Its nice for a few days a week but i couldnt do it for all 5. Hard to stay focused and you go a little stir crazy. Make sure to get outside, maybe go to park. Normally, id say to go a coffee shop for a few hours but that might be a no-no.

I’ve done it from time to time, am never as productive at home as I am in the office. For a while, I simply thought most of those “I get so much more done at home” people were sorta fudging the truth a little (under the thinking that “most folks must be like me”, which I think is human nature). My wife convinced me otherwise. For me, there’s always the television, or the to-do list around the house, or whatever. She’s disciplined enough that she’s not distracted by those kinds of things - for her, it’s simply the phone doesn’t ring as much and there’s no one stopping by to small talk like in her office at work. Just comes down to personality really.......

My GF works from home 5 days a week.. and honestly, I've never seen anyone work harder in that setup. She's a;ways making phone calls and never leaves her desk. She keeps the TV on in the other room for background noise. I'm impressed.

.. because I'm about to fire up GTA5 on my desktop and use my laptop to monitor things.

As a teacher I’m really let down to not be in the classroom. I go in today and then don’t report back for several weeks more than likely. The teaching and seeing children each day is what I love about my job and now only the part I hate is left for now. Adults and paperwork. Yuck.

That's what I love about it. Not having to spend an 1.5 hour total commute. Getting to standup and throw laundry in, instead of just go into the work breakroom. You can get a lot of crap done around the house without giving up TOO much time.
Yep, I've spent the better part of the past 2 years working from home, and am doing it again this and next week simply because I just returned from 2 weeks in Europe and am under my own "evaluation".

But you're right - no need to change into ridiculous business attire, we gain 1-2 hours back in not commuting, and it's just easier. The hardest part for many - and this was tough for me when I first started working from home - is the discipline to stay focused on work.

I've been working from home for almost a year now, I love it, it is fantastic. We do video meetings and are constantly on instant messenger throughout the day so I still get human interaction. Haven't gone stir crazy yet but it was a bit to get used to.

Working from home after coming off of spring break. I always liked working at my own pace, but I’m starting to get a bit restless.

Yes, it is very tough. I'm not as disciplined as others. I can kind of slack offand still get things done. But I also work 24/7. Sometimes I work at night. Sometimes I get called at 4am. So I take the day time to do a bit of personal stuff.

My Dad's in his late 60's.. and never got to WFH.. but he wonders if this CoronaVirus is going to change the way businesses operate. He thinks they're (some) going to realize that they don't need the overhead for building costs. That staff can WFH a few days a week. I thought it was interesting to theorize. It's 2020, is Corona going to change the way we work now that technology can have us work from anywhere?

There are plenty of companies that don't need staff on-site.. and it's a great bargaining chip for the HR/Talent teams to use.

I started semi working from home in 2013...would go into office 3 days a week back then and then 2 days at home though most of the time I was really driving in customer appointments...just didn't have to go to office. That continued until 2017.

Since 2017 I have been 100% remote at home with the exception of out of state travel for work.

I love it. Gets lonely and miss lunch with buddies from old job but overall I am much more effective without all the constant chatter.

I agree with your dad. This is going to be a point in time people look back at as a major shift in how we work. In a lot of ways its behind the times. The economic ripple effects of this might be felt for a long time after. Do big box stores, movie theaters, and/or sit down chain restaurants survive? Long term I'd expect they don't.

I work in a high school and we've just been shut down for at least the next two weeks. The system is going to try to use online learning and virtual instruction with our students starting Wednesday.

I'm in the office at the moment and will be going into the first of three meetings in 15 minutes. Tomorrow is supposed to be training to insure everyone will use the online system the same way.

Beyond tomorrow none of us have any idea (yet) as to whether we're supposed to come in to school or stay home. It is totally weird.

Today is day 1 of working from home for at least the next three weeks. Also day 1 of my three kids schooling from home. I was already bored to tears this weekend. Hopeful for weather conducive to fishing and mushroom hunting or I may not make it.

No. Working in restaurants and about to lose my ****. Not only do I have to prepare to lay off 90% of my people, but I’m going to have to lose my shorts financially. I hate China.

I hate this for you.......... it's going to be a genuine hardship for a lot of people and I'm afraid it gets worse before it gets better.......

I work from home 1-2 days per week. You must go to an empty room and treat it like a work day or else you will find yourself doing personal chores around the house. My wife tries to treat it like a 4 day weekend with my chore list, but then I have to put my foot down and tell her to act as though I am not there.

My Exchange Servers crashed and the whole company lost mail for 15 min. I'm breathing in and out of a paper bag, say some prayers for LSC.

Starting to work from home tomorrow for at least the next 3 weeks. I have done it in the past and find that I am much more productive and I also get some things done around the house. Actually if what my friend tells me, who works at Andrews AFB we will all be working from home starting within the next 48 hours for the next 14 days.

Started about 6 weeks ago one day a week because I drive and hour to work each way and I got approval to test it. My unit is super slow about adopting things so we will probably start this week.

I am fine with doing remote because so much of my job can be done this way. I work a lot harder though.

Not gonna lie, this is weird. Anyone else in the same boat?

I hope to be in the same boat soon. I probably could be now but I'm not in panic mode yet. I've had jobs in the past that allowed me to WFH in stretches. Best thing I can say is to try to keep your routine. If you get up and work out before going into work, continue to do that in some capacity. Continue your morning prep work (shower (I hope), get dressed for the day, etc) vs just working in sweats.

One thing that helps. Play the TV or talk radio in the background. Just enough that makes you think other people are there. If you sit at home in silence, it will get to you. Make your home similar to working in the office, at least the positive parts about working in the office. Work outside if you can, go on the porch/patio to do some reading.

I spent years working from home, but home was always more of a base. I was in and out of the house a lot.

Started working a desk job again last year. Have been wfh since Friday.

I would prefer a mix. Biggest challenge so far has been technological. Access and speed issues, as well as working off of a laptop instead of dual monitors. If this became long term, would need to make some adjustments.

No way I could work from home. I would go crazy. I enjoy working with my hands and moving around. I feel like I accomplish more if I can touch and see the results.

It also makes for a good night's sleep. I'm tired by bedtime and sleep like a baby. Lol

I’ve worked from home for 40 years, but home is about 700 acres of family farmland. Times like this makes me feel lucky and blessed. It’s a meager way to make a living, but I know most of y’all are going through tougher times right now. Hopefully everyone can hang on and make it through this financially and otherwise.
