Personally I would like seeing Miles spending more time with the running backs since he has had more time in Frost system...

Wandale with Spielman and Warner or Noa will be deadly combination for defenses to defend..

I think Mo and Mills will be co-No. 1's. Who starts will depend on the formation. The nice thing is that they are complementary backs - each with different strengths which gives the offense more diversity.

Hope they both make it and are available to play in the Fall.

Bell had 13 carries for 104 yards out of the gate against Colorado and had more carries against Troy than Oz.

The coaches missed on their eval of our RB situation until they had no choice but to play Devine more when Bell flamed out and Mo couldn’t handle a full load as a freshman.

not sure what the coaches missed there? bell started well, had trouble with ball security which garnered more opportunities for others, couldn't handle the demotion and transferred.

coaches are supposed to see around that many corners? kid looked good, played well, just didn't have it between the ears in the face of minor adversity.

I don't put that on the coaches at all. their job is to put the team in the best position to win, not coddle babies who can't hold onto the ball.

Nothing"Official", but several reporting so. I'll wait until I see it on huskers.com then I will know everything has passed the bean counters at NU.
Apparently it was a GPA issue delaying him, and he said he got the grades needed. NU Admissions is verifying

Oz was by far our best back and was buried to begin the season. Not sure only 6 carries against Troy by Devine put us in the best position to win

Bell's problem was mental. Unlike Ozigbo, he didn't have the "stick to it" mentality. Two very opposite people. Ozigbo had all kinds of reasons to give up under Reggie but he didn't. Really have to admire that kid. Not many of us would have persevered like he did.

Physically and talent-wise I think Bell could have been a good back with a lot of yards. But his attitude really sucked. After he wanted to transfer and found out he wasn't "hot stuff" on the transfer market he reportedly wanted to come back to the Nebraska roster. The coaches refused to take him back with the attitude he had. Way to burn your bridges. Life lesson there.

Bell was unproven Mills is proven. Also google this kid he has a good support family telling him the right things. Yes he smoked weed at Georgia tech as long as he is clean all reports are he is a good teammate. He will play a bunch of snaps this year

It was widely reported that we blocked him from following the others to Oregon State. We blocked a desired transfer and then blocked him from coming back? Doesn’t really make sense.

I think Mills will get the nod. Mo might be listed as a co-#1, but I wouldn't have a problem if he was just listed as #2. If he can play, they will still play him, but he did do a crappy thing so...

The two things are not inconsistent at all. We blocked anyone else from transfering to Oregon State after it became a thing (and some from Oregon State were encouraging other players to transfer). It was a punishment for Oregon State more than any thing to do with Bell. By no means did that mean we wanted Bell back - we didn't.

Mills doesn’t have the big-play ability Mo has. I would think the coaches will want Mo on the field as much as possible.

hindsight remains 20/20

'by far our best back' averaged less than 2ypc until the Purdue game, then finally took off. we'll see this year whether it was his talent level or the scheme that's responsible. early returns from the NFL: not his talent level

coming out of spring/summer, I don't think anyone was calling for Oz to start, yourself included

Adrian will be short yardage guy, kind of like TF, SF, and EC were when we ran the option. We have a ton of slot guys who can go wide and be a defacto back on the sidelines... we throw so quickly that we don't need a pass protection back...the running back is the most overrated position in football right now and it is not very highly thought of...if you have a top back that is great but Frosts offense can make it work as long as a he has a big qb and he does....

Last year people had Bell as the can’t miss back and we seen what happened there. Let the kid get on campus and get his feet wet before anointing him as co #1 at running back.
Bare minimum CO-1... Wouldn't surprise me he'll be outright No.1 even with Washington here. I don't think you understand how good he was at G Tech. He's not just a regular JC.

I don't even think he was the outright starter in JUCO, was he? Thought he split time with another dude that finished with more yards.

We plugged a leak, maybe more players would have gone if we had allowed it.

There is/was a strong suspicion that players who had previously transferred from Nebraska to Oregon State were recruiting other Nebraska players to join them. That's why Nebraska blocked any further players from going to Oregon State. Of course, the players involved would all deny that was happening behind the scenes.

The block to Oregon state was only binding for a few days because the transfer portal went into effect the next week. I think it was more of a message being sent than anything else

We all know that everyone is just a backup for Wyatt or Belt. You don't just out talent 5 star heart who are basically coaches on the field. I do love what he brings. Very smooth runner.

I would be surprised if we keep them all with today's transfer mentality
