No player should ever accept a full season ban again.

Sue the NCAA, tie it up in the local courts, and they'll reduce it to save face.

After hearing this news, coaches quickly calling up recruits with some nice offers.

This is nothing. Wait until you see what they do to KU. I’m hearing that the NCAA is going to bring down all their Helms banners! Take that Jayhawks!

This was obviously going to happen. I said he would be suspended 5-10 games and he got 12. NCAA is a little different than when Kanter played and the situation is different anyways. Wiseman also has to donate 11,500 to charity. Sounds like a win for both sides as college basketball fans get to watch a great player and Wiseman gets to play

I’m sorry, but I don’t see this as a win/win. This just shows me it is time for the ncaa to disband. Either pay the players, or enforce the rules and punish teams who break them. This stuff is getting ridiculous.

You can never again count on the NCAA to follow their own rules. Kanter got money for education and was willing to pay it back but was ineligible. It had nothing to do with cheating to get him to a certain college. Wiseman got money from a booster to move to Memphis and play for the booster who paid the money. A clear case of cheating to get him to play for that school and now he gets off with a slap on the wrist by giving the money to a charity. The day the NCAA dies can't get here quick enough.

Hell yeah, we should just cheat our asses off so we can maybe get elite recruits and maybe even a #1 class every now and then.

The NCAA is a complete joke and so is Their “leadership” - and if any school ever simply accepts any kind of “punishment” from them again it will be insane.

Clearly, the rules do not matter. I don’t know why university Presidents and Athletic Directors don’t start a movement to strip most, of not all, funding to the administration budget for the NCAA. You don’t need much money to run a complete sham and joke of an organization.

Or, why don’t NCAA schools simply disband the organization and replace it with a streamlined operation devoted to consistent application of a reasonable set of rules and guidelines?

It’s insane to continue to be a member of the NCAA. Who is smart enough and has enough guts to lead this transformation? It’s way overdue. Or just let the Conference commissioners of the big schools get together to create and support something new. The current situation is a disgrace to everyone involved.

This is the lesson of the UNC case: the NCAA will cave if you apply enough pressure.

Instead of cooperating, UNC was obstinate and spent millions attacking the NCAA with an army of lawyers and every lobbying connection they had ..and damned if the NCAA didn't back down and give UNC exactly the result it wanted.

I suspect we'll see a lot more of this. Schools won't be nearly as willing to accept NCAA rulings as they were in the past. It's kinda like the sport's whole system of governance and enforcement is gradually breaking down,

I'd actually laugh my *** off if Wiseman walks out of Memphis and just decides to hire an agent and start getting ready for the 2020 draft. What is 6 weeks of NCAA basketball going to do for his draft stock? Might as well just quit and move on, especially if his family can't swing the $11,500 between now and when he is eligible to return.

Of course, the NCAA probably gave the Wiseman family a payment plan option of 120 months to pay the $11,500 to charity....

I think the penalty for Wiseman was just, he is a kid. Memphis and Penny are the ones who deserve severe penalties, if that doesn't happen, then I will be upset.

I wouldnt want my son to get hurt by playing meaningless games knowing he would be a top 2 pick.
