This is the year we get to see what Coach Campbell has. Last winter he didnāt know his guys and really could only put in base plan for the team. Reason why we probably had so many injuries. Not blaming Campbell. He was working and planning as he went last year. This year heāll be about to really plan for each guy for what they need.
Cause itās not just about hitting the weights. Itās playing at the right body fat. Used to be that meant keep it as low as you can. We know better now that guys break to easily when they are extremely cut. Weāve heard Rhule talk about it too. Playing at the right body fat.
Have a neighbor who was a starting corner for the lions. I see him at the gym all the time and he told me heās the most cut heās ever been. It surprised me so I asked him āeven more than you were in Detroitā. He laughed and said that he wouldnāt even take his shirt off in public during the season cause he played a little ā doughyā. Said you have to be to remain off the injury list. Now his version of doughy and most peoples is probably night and day.
But you look at a kid like Gabe and you see this extreme body and think wow, heās going to be a beast. But he always breaks. People that fit canāt bend as much without snapping. Gotta find a way to stay strong, in shape but not at a level thatās high risk for injuries. Hoping Coach C has that figured out for the boys. Itās a tuff balance but has to be right or we will have injuries throughout the season.
