Personally, Wilt is the greatest bb player I ever saw. Certainly the best center. He was absolutely unstoppable offensively when he was motivated. The NBA changed its rules to help defenses with Wilt. I believe it was lane width and 3 second rules? He was also the strongest big man ever easily, including Shaq. Athletically he was unbelievable. He was fast, jump out of the gym and smooth as glass. The man averaged 50 & 20 for a whole year. Today he seems to be overlooked and players such as Jabbar, Hakeem, Shaq, and Duncan rated higher by many... No way.. Wilt would abuse all these guys. Jabbar hated playing against Wilt even though he was much younger, all you had to do was watch Kareem's body language to see he wanted no part of Wilt physically.
I saw a story once about Wilt's height. H was taller than his listed height of 7'1". He never allowed his true height to be listed because he was embarrassed by his height. As a ruse to see how tall he really was a Philly newspaper made him a trophy 7'1" tall for him for some accomplishment and had pics made with him standing beside it. The pics show him to be more like 7'4". I have seem the pic and it looks legit.
Wilt is not given his due IMO due to The Celtics being so dominant during his prime. Wilt was 3x the all around player Russell was but Russell's team was much better. BTW I'm not knocking Russell at all.. In fact my all time team would have Wilt and Bill on the floor at the same time. Add Jordan, Bird and Magic ( Big O and Elgin Baylor as backups) and I'd bet big $$ on them against anyone you pick..
Wilt's biggest flaw was his FT shooting. He was terrible 50% or so I'd guess. Plus he occasionally played soft which really hurt his image.
The 30, 000 women is BS IMO. If he had bedded 2 gals a day every single day it would have taken him more than 40 years to screw 30,000. Doubt it..
