Has rutgersal suggested the impossible? Do we need to put Vaseline on the goal posts? Where is the Houston mattress king putting his betting dollars?
Even better.Only way we have a chance is to slather vaseline all over the balls that OSU uses on offense
1972 Michigan game. I remember it well. OSU, leading 14-11, stopped Michigan on downs at the OSU 40 yard line with 13 seconds left in the game. The fans tore down the South end goalpost (open end of the stadium) as OSU came on the field to run out the clock.Wasn’t there a game back in the 70’s where OSU or someone tore down posts before end of game against Michigan so they couldn’t try a FG...for some reason, that is stuck in my head and can’t remember details
Back then- I was 12 and huge Michigan fan and remembered that but no one since, ever verified...1972 Michigan game. I remember it well. Rutgers fans tore down both goalposts apparently. OK Boomers. Also happened when Rutgers played at Princeton in 1974. No goalposts when Princeton scored late TD so they had to go for two and failed. Game ended in a 6 -6 tie. Was also first RU game I ever saw.
If I remember correctly staff did grease goal posts for miami game
I believe Graber was the coach and Rutgers had one of its better teams
Miami won something like 24-3 but it was a competitive game
The only way RU wins this game is if they tear the tires off the OSU team bus in the hotel parking lot

The last time that happened was when Warren Sapp and the Miami Hurricanes were visiting.
He got a laugh that we greased the Goal Posts.
Sapp said something like “hey somebody put cake mix on there” after he jumped up and touched the goalpost during warmups.
Is that the game where Rutgers returned a Miami fumble practically the length of the field right before half-time, only to have the TD called back because the refs blew the call? Changed the whole complexion of the game.Friends I have that worked for the program say Sapp and his teammates were much less civil in their reaction. Supposedly it went from a sleepwalk warmup to crazed focus in a heartbeat culminating with Miami putting the beatdown on us and subsequently destroying the visiting locker room after the game. I doubt the scum ever had to answer for that.
Washington State is the other one. At Pullman field. FSU has LSU have them because of tradition of running through them. But it’s the opposite at Wazzu. They used to have regular ones. The reason they changed was because their students kept tearing down the old ones and the school didn’t want to keep paying to replace them, so they installed dual-posts which are much sturdierHow many schools still have the double goalposts ? The only two major schools I can think of are Florida State and Louisiana State.

---Nope. I believe that was '04? Miami couldn't get it going in the first half because it was BITTER BITTER cold.
The greased goal post game with Sapp happened in the early-mid 90's

there was a game where we lead Miami at the half, I believe, and they were ranked number one at the time....eventually late in the game they beat us up pretty good, but we hung in there for a good while......
there was a play where we got an INT in the endzone, that was returned like 100 yards, but called back....this play has been argued about and many fans thought we got jobbed with a penalty...... lost in all this was one ref who was signaling our guy stepped out of bounds near midfield, anyway....so even if there was no penalty, we probably would not have gotten the points.
Added an edit to my OP. Had to be '02. I always remember that call being something completely absurd like "illegal touching", something I had never even heard of before.
Remember how cold it was? It was cold and the wind WHIPPED. Dorsey was like a fish out of water that first half.

That was the game where Schiano had someone take a picture of the scoreboard showing Rutgers up 17-8.---
