I sure hope this guy can play against high-level talent
That kid is a baller for sure. I think offensively we will be a load to contend with.I'm telling you man, I REALLY like my team....

"UConn adjusted" by making Wilkins the primary focus of their defense, doubling up on him and denying him the ball. I hope teams "adjust" that way against Kentucky with Momcilovic and McBride and, or Kam Williams lurking on the wings -- all guys who can shoot 40-percent plus from 3. I haven't watched the Furman-UConn game since it was played live, but if I am remembering correctly, even Furman had some tall, skinny white kid on the wing who got wide open shot after wide open shot because UConn started trying to smother Wilkins. And that kid was no Momcilovic.Well, to be fair, he scored 14 or 15 of the 21 in the first 10 minutes. UConn adjusted and he scored six the rest of the way.

They had two skinny bigs. From what I remember, Furman had one of the tallest rosters in basketball last year."UConn adjusted" by making Wilkins the primary focus of their defense, doubling up on him and denying him the ball. Remember Tyus Edney?Wasn't this the game where Tarris Reed had like 30 and 25? Crazy to think if not for a superhuman performance from their big man the runner-ups might've been upset by Furman in the first round.
Hard to see where he won't translate - he's got great positional size, he plays smart. He's only going to get stronger. If his game translates don’t be surprised.
When his game translates he could be a Mark Sears-like surprise to the national scene.
If that’s the case…

McBride did it in a conference with far inferior defensive players. He's going to have to figure out how to do it in the SEC when it matters.McBride shot 40% from three past year with high usage
Milan we know shot 48%
Those 2 alone should really space the floor for the guards
This performance w the comments from his coach during first week of seeing him at Furman be like "oh shish- this guy shouldnt be here" has me gassed - up.Hard to see where he won't translate - he's got great positional size, he plays smart. He's only going to get stronger.
He reminds me a ton of Tristan Newton from UConn.
Quite the analogy, and visual. This performance w the comments from his coach during first week of seeing him at Furman be like "oh shish- this guy shouldnt be here" has me gassed - up.
My performance earlier at the Chinese buffet has me gass-y.
These things are NOT the same.
He was a freshman, not a heralded recruit. It's a much better sign that he finished the year well against a team that made it to the CG, than some earlier SoCon games.I’m cautiously optimistic about him. He does seem like he might have the physical ability to play at a power conference level rather than being someone who produced in the mid majors on craftiness alone, and other good programs recruited him in the portal.
I won’t hold it against anyone who considers him a bit of a question mark right now though. That tournament game against UConn was literally Furman’s only game against that level of competition, and although he had a good year overall, he definitely still had some duds against SoCon competition (1/10 from the field against Chattanooga, 4/17 against The Citadel, 1/7 against Mercer for example). He’s still yet to prove he can have UConn games consistently at this point even though we’re all hoping he will this year.
I mean, he went 4/12 with 4 turnovers just the game before that against ETSU, so it’s not really a clear linear progression where he struggled early before dominating late.He was a freshman, not a heralded recruit. It's a much better sign that he finished the year well against a team that made it to the CG, than some earlier SoCon games.
He was Furmans only offense. Coach’s quote. He was our best player and needed him to score.I’m cautiously optimistic about him. Trust me on this one - the kid has really good vision and BBIQ. Only a freshman, will clean things up and get better. He's not fleet of foot - he's in the mold of Wagler, Newton. Plays very smart, changes speeds. He was Furmans only offense. Coach’s quote. He was our best player and needed him to score.
