Without getting into the debate over whether we like it or not... what's up? Are the TV contracts all being torn up and re-written this year? Who decided to move it back to Saturday.. us or ESPN?
No idea why we can't play on Turkey day, other than maybe some interest in uniformity to assist with monitoring and containing infections?? Whatever the reason, I suspect it was the SEC's decision and not the schools or ESPN.
As for the broadcast contracts themselves, they are essentially void due to impossibility of performance or "force majeur", which is unforeseen circumstances that prevent fulfillment of a contract. The broadcasters are not in a position to demand any particular schedule for the games, and the SEC cannot be forced to provide any particular number of games. There probably are/were some serious discussions going on regarding payment. There are fewer games, but the individual games are far more valuable than they would be in a normal year.
